Kahoru and Takahiro made their way into Kahoru's apartment building. They walked into the elevator and there was an elderly woman already standing, as she waited for it to go up.
The woman's face lit up as she saw Kahoru get on. "Ah, good evening Kahoru, how was your day?"
"Oh, good evening Mrs Funai. It's been alright. How about you?"
"It's been wonderful. My granddaughter just came back from England, so I went over to her home. Kahoru, you always say it's been alright. Spice your life up a little."
"I'll spice it up someday."
"And who his this handsome gentleman? I've never seen you bring a man into your apartment."
"Well, uh he's-"
Takahiro gave the woman a smile. "Her husband."
Mrs Funai looked back and forth at the pair and her jaw dropped. "Kahoru!" She smacked Kahoru's back and grinned. "Hoho seems your life is starting to get spicy either way."
All of a sudden, Takahiro had rubbed Kahoru's back. Kahoru flinched and then stayed still. Mrs Funai started to study Takahiro from head to toe. Kahoru wanted to hide in a hole. She glanced at Takahiro, who seemed quite calm from the ordeal. After examining Takahiro, Mrs Funai smiled. "You take good care of her okay?"
"I will."
"Oh well, here is my stop. I hope to see you more often."
"Yes, me too."
The woman got off the elevator and waved at Kahoru and Takahiro. After the doors had shut, Kahoru breathed a sigh of relief. "She's a very nosy woman."
Takahiro gave a light chuckle. "She's very lively. She could spice your life up for you."
"Hey, I don't need anything that isn't necessary. My life is fine as it is."
"You really do live a boring life."
"Why does it matter to you?"
"If the news finds out that I have a wife and she leads a boring life, It can affect me as well."
"Then go find another woman that can give you a better and less boring life." Kahoru pouted. Takahiro found Kahoru's pout quite amusing. He knew that her life would turn interesting soon.
After getting off the elevator, they got into Kahoru's apartment. She turned the lights on and headed straight for the kitchen. Takahiro followed behind. She turned around to face Takahiro. "Go wash your hands in the bathroom. Takahiro scoffed and headed towards the bathroom.
Kahoru headed to the kitchen to wash her hands. After becoming a surgeon, she had become a clean-freak, constantly washing and sanitising her hands, even at home.
After she cleaned her hands, Kahoru went to the fridge. She opened the fridge and grabbed two cups of pudding. She closed the door, grabbed a spoon and made her way to the living room. As she sat, Takahiro walked out and headed to the living room. there he saw Kahoru, sitting down and watching a show. He sat down next to her. Kahoru turned to face Takahiro. "Here."
"Two puddings?"
"just eat them."
"Thanks." Takahiro grinned like a child who had gotten their dream toy for their birthday and started to dig into the pudding. After a few minutes, he had already cleaned up the cups. Kahoru was quite shocked.
"Got any alcohol?" Takahiro leaned backwards against the couch.
"Hey, you can't order me around like this."
"But I'm your guest."
"No, you are my husband." Kahoru had suddenly realised what she said and quickly covered her mouth. Takahiro started to laugh.
"Now you're admitting it."
"Shut up."
"Okay, I'll grab something." Takahiro went into Kahoru's kitchen and opened the fridge.
His eyes widened. There were many types of drinks in Kahoru's fridge. He did not expect Kahoru to be such a big drinker.
Kahoru waited in the living room, not knowing what Takahiro was up to. She continued to focus on the show. Takahiro then stood in front of her with several cans of beer. He crouched down and gently placed them on the coffee table. Kahoru took notice and glared at Takahiro.
"What? You're drinking with me tonight."
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Kahoru was surprised. She thought Takahiro only drank what rich people would drink; expensive wine and champagne. Takahiro went back and forth, bringing more drinks and the few snacks he had found in the pantry. "It's been a while since I had a drinking party."
"Why are we using my drinks?"
"I'll pay you back."
"You don't have to."
"I will." Takahiro sat back down on the couch and opened a can of beer. He started to skull the beer down. Kahoru was mortified. She had just witnessed this man gulping the drink down as fast he could. "Ahh, that hits the spot."
Kahoru could only stare at him in awe. Takahiro looked at her, puzzled that she was only watching him. "What?"
"Nothing."
Takahiro shrugged his shoulders and leaned forward to grab two beers. He handed one to Kahoru. Kahoru hesitantly accepted the beer and continued to watch Takahiro's every move. He opened his can and shifted his body towards Kahoru. "Why aren't you drinking?"
"Okay, I'll drink." Kahoru opened her can and together they toasted to nothing.
They drank, not realising how much time had passed. They talked about their lives, as they continued to watch the television.
After a few hours had passed, Kahoru checked the time. It was about 2 am. She gazed at Takahiro, who seemed to have fallen asleep. She stood up and walked into the kitchen to grab some water.
After, she went to grab a blanket and tucked Takahiro in. She observed his sleeping face, admiring how peaceful he was compared to him being awake. Subconsciously, she gave him a slight smile.
"Thank you for today."
She turned off the television and headed to the bathroom. She took a quick shower and headed to bed.
In the morning, Takahiro woke up as the sun shone right in his face. His head throbbed as he slowly sat up. He soon realised he was not at home and looked around.
Takahiro then noticed a piece of paper next to him. He started to read it, " I left some food in the fridge and feel free to take a shower before you go."
Takahiro was a little astonished, then smiled. "You're quite cute when you act nice."
