"Your daughter is doing fine now. Due to the overdose, we had to pump her stomach. She will be in the ICU until she stabilises."
"Thank you, Doctor."
"This nurse here will take you there."
The nurse that had just come out, smiling at the family. "I will take you there. Please follow me."
They started to follow until the man stopped Kahoru from leaving. "Doctor Yukimura, what are you doing here?"
"Hello, Doctor Suzuki, I know them."
"I see. Well, I've never seen you in casual clothes before. You always dress differently."
"What do you mean?"
"You look much nicer in a hoodie than whatever you usually wear." Doctor Suzuki wrapped his arm around Kahoru's shoulder. Kahoru immediately felt uncomfortable and became stiff as a board.
"Why don't we go to my office?" He whispered. Kahoru knew he had intentions as he was the playboy of the Hospital. He was extremely good looking. Although he did play around with women, he was one of the best general surgeons working in the hospital.
Just as Doctor Suzuki was about to drag Kahoru away, Kahoru was suddenly pulled out of Doctor Suzuki's arm. She closed her eyes as she felt like she was going to fall over, only to realise she had landed in Takahiro's arms.
She looked up at Takahiro, who seemed to be furious. Kahoru suddenly felt a chill run down her spine. The atmosphere felt colder than it was. She then turned her head to see Doctor Suzuki in shock.
Takahiro's brows were furrowed. He hugged Kahoru tighter as if he was about to lose her. "What are you doing to my wife?" His ice-cold eyes shot daggers toward Doctor Suzuki.
Doctor Suzuki's eyes widened and his jaw had dropped. He never expected Kahoru to be a married woman. "Your wife?"
"Yes my wife, I'll be taking her now." Takahiro quickly dragged Kahoru away from the waiting room and towards the Intensive care unit.
As they walked away, Doctor Suzuki was shaken at what had just happened. Kahoru's husband was such a handsome man. Women would fall for him from his smile. After a few moments of spacing out, Doctor Suzuki snapped out of his daze and continued on with his work.
Kahoru and Takahiro stood alongside Sayaka and Kenshin who was watching their daughter. The anesthetiser had not worn off yet, which was the reason that she was still unconscious.
"Do you remember her?" Takahiro asked Kahoru, his eyes still focused on the girl.
"I do, she's all grown up now." Kahoru was also watching. The last time she had seen Hanako was sixteen years ago when Takahiro and his family left to go abroad. Hanako was only two years old at the time. Knowing that it was the present, she would be turning eighteen later in the year.
To see someone as young as Hanako laying in a hospital bed had tugged on Kahoru's heartstrings. Takahiro was focused on his little sister, his face was full of concern and his eyes gleamed with worry. Kahoru glanced at Takahiro a few times and then glanced at his hand. His fist was tightly clenched so tight that it looked like his nails were going to pierce his skin.
Kahoru wanted to hold it so he would know everything was alright, but she hesitated. Her heart was beating and she felt awkward. "Takahiro, I'm going to go to the cafeteria."
"Okay." Takahiro quietly replied.
Kahoru quickly walked out of the Intensive Care Unit and towards the cafeteria. She walked through the halls as the medical staff hurried to their destinations. She felt her stomach grumble. 'I forgot to eat today.' she thought to herself.
Kahoru arrived at the cafeteria and looked at the food that was available. She did not have an appetite for any of them and only ordered a hot chocolate. After getting her drink, she sat down at a table. She took out her phone and decided to text Kanna.
Takahiro was still in the Intensive care unit and noticed that Kahoru was not by his side anymore. He felt his heart drop and started to look around. His parents were still there, waiting for her to wake up. Takahiro wanted to wait, but he became worried about Kahoru's disappearance. "Mother, I'm going to look for Kahoru."
"Okay, I think you should go home. Your father and I will stay for the night."
"But mother-"
"Your wife probably had just finished her shift, she is probably very exhausted after working long hours in the hospital. You can visit Hanako tomorrow."
Takahiro felt defeated. He took his mother's words and went to find Kahoru. She was not working, so Takahiro assumed she would be at the cafeteria. He quickly walked towards the cafeteria and looked around, trying to spot her in the small crowd. He finally spotted her sitting in the back corner.
Takahiro walked towards Kahoru and sat in front of her. Kahoru looked up to see who had sat in front of her. It was Takahiro, he glared at Kahoru. Kahoru was confused "Why are you glaring at me?"
"We're going home." Takahiro stood up and grabbed Kahoru's arm and started to drag her.
Kahoru pulled back, "What about Hanako?"
"My parents are staying for the night. I can visit her tomorrow."
"Ah, okay." Kahoru followed Takahiro outside and they called for a taxi.
They sat in silence on the way home. Kahoru watched out of the window and then her stomach grumbled. She hugged her stomach in embarrassment and just as they were about to arrive at their apartment complex, Takahiro called out to the driver. "Can you stop at the store?"
"Yes absolutely." The taxi driver pulled over at the convenience store and Takahiro paid the man.
He dragged Kahoru out and together they walked into the store. Kahoru was confused. "Why are we here? We already have food at home."
"The food you have are just snacks. We can buy a few things and take them home."
"What do you want to eat?"
"I already ate, but I am feeling quite hungry after today. Maybe we can eat curry."
"Curry it is. I have rice at home. We can buy curry blocks here and some vegetables. Can you get some drinks?"
"Okay."
Takahiro and Kahoru separated. Kahoru walked around to find the blocks. After putting it in the basket, she went to the produce and picked up some potatoes, carrots and then the meat department to grab chicken thighs.
She went on to find Takahiro who was waiting for her in the front.
