Kahoru frowned. "What makes you think you are going to stay with me?"
"Your place is closer to my workplace."
"Then get your own apartment."
"But you have a spare bedroom."
"It doesn't mean you can just move in whenever you like." Kahoru stomped towards the entrance.
Takahiro quickly followed behind Kahoru. "I'll pay half of your rent."
"No."
"How about all of it?"
"No."
"Then what can I do?"
Kahoru suddenly stopped in her tracks and sighed. Takahiro bumped into Kahoru, spilling the bag of groceries onto the floor. They both scrambled to pick the items up. "Why did you bump into me like that?"
"It was an accident."
As they went for the last item, their hands brushed against each other. Kahoru panicked and immediately pulled her hand back. Takahiro grabbed the snack and placed it in the bag. Kahoru faced away from Takahiro and stood up as she felt a flush creep up her face.
She quickly walked into the elevator with Takahiro trying to keep up with her. Kahoru scanned her keycard as Takahiro made it in. She tried to stand as far as she could from him. After the heavy silence in the elevator, they both got out and walked Kahoru's room. Kahoru quickly took her keys our and fiddled through them. She felt as if her heart was going to leap out of her chest.
'Why is this happening to me?' She thought to herself. Due to the fidgeting, Kahoru dropped her keys. Before she picked the keys up, Takahiro bent down and picked up the keys. He took the keycard and scanned the door handle. Kahoru gave a puzzled look as he smirked. "Did you forget you had a keycard?"
Kahoru's cheeks turned pink. At that moment that she had forgotten she did not live in her old apartment anymore and went for the keys, not realising that she only needed a card to get in her own apartment. She opened her door and ran in as she covered her face.
Takahiro chuckled. He closed the door and went for the kitchen. He unpacked the snacks and put them in the pantry. Kahoru was inside the bathroom hiding from him. She took the time to take a bath.
Takahiro sat down on the couch and placed his laptop on the table. He took his documents out and started to read and sort them. While he read, he stopped at one of the documents. He glowered and gripped the paper. Just seeing Keiichi's name annoyed Takahiro. Takahiro sighed to himself, "I'll make sure he never gets to you."
Kahoru was pondering in the bathtub. She did not know what to do with Takahiro as he followed her into her apartment. "I'll just kick him out tomorrow."
After her bath, Kahoru put on a t-shirt and tracksuit pants. She walked out into the living room where she saw Takahiro working. Takahiro was so focused that he did not realise Kahoru left the bathroom. Kahoru went into the kitchen and poured two glasses of water. She took the glasses to the living room and placed one of the glasses in front of him.
Takahiro finally noticed Kahoru and looked up at her. Her eyes were gentle as she gazed at the man who sat in front in front of her. Takahiro gave her a puzzled look. Kahoru leaned in to push the glass towards Takahiro. "Don't stay up too late."
"Thanks. Also, where do I sleep?"
"The couch."
"What about the spare bedroom?"
"You're staying on the couch. Go stay somewhere else."
Takahiro let out a deep sigh. "Just let me stay here. I won't bother you."
Kahoru started to think. She realised her home was quiet most of the time and it was quite lonely for her. "Fine. bring your things to the room."
Takahiro silently cheered and followed Kahoru into the room. Inside the room was a double bed with a desk on the side. It was as if it were already prepared for him. Kahoru glanced at Takahiro. "Don't think this is for you. It was a guest bedroom to start with."
"This is fine, thanks."
"Why can't you just stay at your home?"
"I thought it would be easier to stay closer to work and,"
"And?"
Takahiro smirked as he walked to Kahoru. Kahoru instinctively backed up until she hit a wall.
"I get to spend time with the wifey." Takahiro inched his face closer to Kahoru's face. Kahoru's heart started to beat. She gulped as Takahiro slowly moved closer and closer to her face. She closed her eyes and then the phone in Takahiro's pocket started to ring. Takahiro backed away to answer the phone.
Kahoru realised what had happened and her face reddened. She watched Takahiro pick up the phone, he was furious. But soon his look of anger had turned into a concerned look.
Takahiro was on the phone with his mother. "Mum, what happened?"
"Hanako is at the hospital, you need to come."
"What? okay, I'll come. Which hospital? Okay, I'll be there soon."
He hung up the phone. Kahoru was worried. "What happened?"
"Put on some clothes. We're going to the hospital."
"Oh, okay." Kahoru walked out of the room and into her room. She put on her light blue jeans and a black hoodie. After she left her room, Takahiro already had his shoes on. He seemed impatient as he looked at his watch. Kahoru took her bag and keys and put on her sneakers. "Let's go."
After they left the apartment building, Kahoru hailed a taxi and the two rushed in. They sat inside the taxi on the way to the Yukira medical practice. Kahoru was confused to why they were heading to the hospital. "Takahiro, why are we going to the hospital?"
He kept silent. He stared blankly out of the window as buildings quickly moved past them. After a few minutes, Kahoru paid the taxi driver as Takahiro rushed inside. Kahoru followed in behind him. She headed to the surgery waiting room to see her in-laws chatting with Takahiro. She walked up to them and kept silent. Kenshin noticed Kahoru. "Oh, did you bring Kahoru here Takahiro?"
Takahiro turned to face Kahoru. "Yeah." Takahiro pulled Kahoru towards him and wrapped his arm around her.
Kenshin looked pleased. "I guess you two getting married is a good thing. How is it going? Are you both living together now?"
Takahiro smiled. "It's going good. We are living in Kahoru's apartment."
Sayaka smiled. "That's good."
They chatted for a bit until the sign of the light of the waiting room sign turned off. The in-laws noticed and headed towards the door. A man walked out and turned his head to Sayaka. Sayaka fought back her tears, "Doctor, how is my daughter doing?"
