009: Pain

'AAAAAARGH!!!' as soon as I wake up, a sharp pain invaded my body. It didn't stop, it wouldn't go away. "STOP IT!!!" I screamed. "MAKE IT STOP" I half begged, and half ordered. But it wouldn't cease. I felt my consciousness fading... 'NO!' I wouldn't let it fade! I knew that if I did, maybe I wouldn't wake up ever again. I kept clinging into consciousness. I wouldn't let it fade, or go away. I wouldn't die. Not here. Not now. 'Won't the pain go away if you let it go?' an alluring voice deep inside me tried to tempt me. 'NO!' 'Why not?' 'Because I don't want to!' 'Why don't you want it?' I couldn't keep arguing. It was already hard enough to keep myself conscious, I couldn't think of a decent answer while doing that. So i dexided to ignore the voice. The pain didn't stop. In fact, it became stronger. More intense. Fiercer than any pain I had ever felt. 'No, there was one!' Even though I had only experienced it for the split of a second, I remembered it well. 'Spirit Severing.' It was them. They were doing this. There was no doubt. But why would they do something like that? And why now? I couldn't think. I simply wasn't able to do it. But then, the pain began shrinking. Slowly, very slowly... After some minutes, it had disappeared. 'Why?' A simple word filled my brain. A simple question, that could have so many complex answers depending on the situation... 'Hey, are you okay?' Kuro's voice rang inside my head. 'Why?' I answered back, talking to him in my head. To be honest, maybe I was going crazy after all the pain. But I didn't care. I wanted answers. If the answers didn't satisfy me, I was already thinking how I could get my revenge for what they had done. 'If we didn't, things would have gotten rather... troublesome. Take it as a form of training.' Said the voice of Shiro... Training, huh? TRAINING MY ASS!!! I could have died there! I know they can sever my spirit faster! Like they did when they severed my sloth! They were doing it on purpose, and they hadn't even told me what they severed! I was furious. 'I know that you are angry, but... can you take a look at your surroundings?' Sounded the voice of Kuro. I looked at my surroundings. I was in a room, there were the two areas that I knew, and an area that had all kinds of thread, leather and all that stuff. Sewing? But that wasn't ehat I was worried about. Neither they were. I was worried because I wasn't alone. There was a silhouete, that seemed rather humanoid, lying on the floor. He... or she, was was wearing a hood, a coat with a hood. I couldn't see anything about this... individual aside from that. It could be a threat... But I decided to wait and not get closer, just in case. What if we could become allies? It was worth a shot. If not I would just kill that person. I didn't care about killing other people, or intelligent beings... It's not as if I hadn't done that before, although that is... rather a long story. One that I won't explain now. I waited. I noticed a weird smell on the air. 'What the hell is this?' It wasn't anasthesia or the somniferous gas. So what was it? I didn't know. When that person woke up, it slowly got up. It looked at its surroundings, and then, turned to my direction. Pale and (seemingly) soft skin, black long hair and big black eyes. I think we can almost confirm it. It's a she. When we looked at each others directly, I could see that her eyes were... dilated. Almost as if she was... drugged, or half asleep. Her breathing became ragged and she began walking towards me.

I began tensing up. I took neared my hand to the melee daggers, just in case. "Who are you?" I asked.

Was she ignoring me? What the...? Why? She kept coming closer. Her breathing was anything but steady, and her dilated eyes were looking at me... no. I think they were looking at something below me.

Step. She was almost touching me. She was really creeping me out. I could smell her breath. I began to have a bad feeling about this. "ENOUGH!" I kicked her in the head with hopes that she would snap out of it. "Ahnn..." she moaned. Ehhhhh... What? I wasn't any kicking expert, and I didn't know how others could express pain, but I think that was pretty... weird? Uncommon? "Ugggh... Yaawn... that is not how you should wake someone up..." she said, as she got up and stretched herself. I took a battle stance again. "Who are you?" "The same for you...Who the hell are you? Before you were creeping me out... Are you a sleepwalker or something?" "I am not sure... By the way, why do I feel... weird?" She was more or less of my age. She felt weird? Maybe it was the gas? Maybe she was more sensitive than me to it. "Well... there is a strange gas in the air... maybe it is that... and can you steady your breath, please?" You should have already noticed, her breathing hadn't become steady yet. "I... I can't help it... I feel very weird..." "Ignore it." "You don't know how I feel!" Nope. I didn't know how she felt. Neither I cared. I just thought that the more she breathed like this, the worse it would become for her, since the cause was probably the air that she was breathing. Welp... I observed the room again. This time, I saw two things I hadn't noticed before. There was a manual on the anvil, with three hammers next to it (a pair of small hammers, and a larger hammer), and another on the alchemy crafting table, with a scythe by its side. New weapons to use... I went and pick the both manuals while the creep was trying to get rid her "weird feeling". After a few hours, I had already menorized it, and I was ready to begin to practice. "WHO ARE YOU?!" shouted the annoying creep. It seems that she had finally gotten rid of the weird feeling, or at least, it had faded away to the point that she could already speak normally. "It would seem that I am your cellmate." "What is your name?" "Call me A." Instead of my real name, I told her just the initial... Just in case."Well then, call me Akatsuki." ... A silence permeated the room. "That's it?" I walked away to take the weapons and train. And thus, my shared life began. Every day, I trained with weapons, alchemy, and forging. And every night, I cultivated. After a week passed, the gas would come. And after that, I would have a fight with a beast or a monster. After killing it, I would wake up with a different weapon to train on. The same routine. All the way till 6 years later. When we were fifteen years old.
