Only the strongest survives

Bijit and Rakesh met inside the spawn island. Thy got acquainted to each other and discussed and learned that they lived in the same state with only a district separation. As they shared stories about their hometown they gradually became friends. They discussed their situation, about how they might have been abducted by the terrorist and might be asking their family for ransom. Bijit traffic police officer and Rakesh in a delivery boy working in their respective towns. Both of them are from poor family in rural areas. They came to the cities in the hope of earning big money and supporting their families, and both got their opportunity and settled in the town. They would send their hard earned money back home, Although they themselves live alone in small single person room of a rented house. As their family situation and personal situation were similar they could understand and therefore trust each other. They decided to survive this ordeal together. And so When they boarded the airplane and were told to disembark, they did so together and landed on the same area. At first they were clue less of what to do afterwards. The place they landed 4 houses. After checking the houses and finding no one living inside, they decided to take the houses for themselves, rest and review upon the conditions they had studied on the spawn island. As Bijit was a traffic police and had trained with guns before, he taught the basics to Rakesh who was a fast learner. Only after just the first demo Rakesh caught onto the various functions and operations.

Who could have expected that they would be ambushed by someone. Luckily although the enemy seemed familiar with fire arms, he was not an expert. Otherwise Rakesh would have been shot to the head or heart instead of getting just a gracing by the bullet on his hand. They ducked behind the wall and were safe for the moment. But when Bijit peeked out of the window , he did not caught any sight of enemy and relaxed. But they were careless as the enemy hadn't left, and was more vicious then they expected. The enemy was hellbent on killing the two of them. At the most unexpected moment the enemy threw a grenade inside the from they were in. Luckily the left for the next room and were saved but still Rakes's already injured hand got a lot worse from the blast. When going downstairs to leave the house and escape they came face to face with the enemy. Even the enemy was shocked to see them. Maybe he hadn't expected them to survive. Taking advantage of the lapse of alertness Bijit fired and emptied all the bullet in the rifle and the enemy died full of holes drilled into his body. In his dyeing breath the enemy fired back to at least take one of them with him to the underworld. Unlucky for him, Rakesh was the aim, but within that fraction of seconds Bijit reacted and saved his life by shouldering him away. And doing so he got shot in the leg by stray bullet.

Rakesh felt heartfelt gratitude towards Bijit. Without him, he wouldn't be standing here now. Even during the grenade blasting, without his warning he wouldn't have been able to avoid disaster.

After going through this ordeal, trust between them grew further which is needed now more then anything. This island will be full of scheming and deceit and betrayal, and having a friend you could trust your life with would not be bad.

Bijit helped Rakesh operate on his hand shot by bullet. And Rakesh helped Bijit do the same. 'A bottle of Rum would have been great right now' both of them thought silently.

Wrapping bandages on their wounds, they rested. They are happy to survive this great fight.

"That was a close call. Didn't expect the bastard to have grenades with him" cursed Bijit.

'That's true. I wouldn't be alive if not for Bijits timely warning' Rakesh thought.

"But in the end of the day what can a single person do against two of us. Although that person seemed expert in handing fire arms. May be he worked in the mafia." Rakesh commented. He himself encountered a few mafia back in his town, but none as vicious as this one. Most of them were either gangster type or local hegemon.

Bijit picked up the bag pack of their opponent and started rummaging through it.

"Wow, this bastard horded a lot of supplies. Let's see, a smoke grenade, bandages, even some apples, a lot of ammo. Now we don't have to search for ammo for our rifles"

He exclaimed upon the discovery of the various items. With this they could safeguard themselves better. Their depleted supply of First Aid and other supplies were refilled. But as they were savouring their victory and examining over the items, they heard the sound of car engine approaching. A look of terror flashed past both of them. They just overcame a hurdle with great difficulty, barely surviving, both of them were injured even. They were in no condition to fight yet another enemy or worse a team of them. Even without uttering a word, as if they were synchronised, both of them hid within the bushes behind the house and waited the enemy to leave.

But the car stopped besides the same building they had been fighting a while back. And now there was only about a hundred or so meters distance between them. Even a single movement, and they will be caught. There were three enemies in total. They already had so much trouble defeating a single enemy, and now there were three of them. And they seem much tougher then that mafia guy from before. The burly guy exit the vehicle and said something, the voices were barely audible, so they had difficulty understanding them. But one thing was for sure is that, if they are caught in their present state, then they will definitely die. They prayed to gods to not be discovered, but their prayer seems to fall in deaf ears. As in next second the skinny guy came out of his drivers seat and said something while looking over their general location. Were they discovered? Or not? Should they fire and took advantage of ambush? Such thought flashed past their mind. Eventually Bijit decided for both of them by firing the first shot.

'BANG'

And luckily it was headshot straight through the head of the skinny guy. The guy slumped down, never to move again. It was just the starting. The other two enemy, the burly moustache guy and the muscle women were shocked to see one of their companion die just like that. Before Bijit could further fire more bullets they took cover behind the car. They seemed rather experts to Bijit, as even in a state of shock they reacted quickly by taking cover. May be they were mercenaries originally. The skinny guy didn't seemed to be the actual fighting force out of the three, as he was quickly taken care off, even with the elements of surprise. Only if he didn't look towards them, he wouldn't have fired, and they could have gone their separate ways. Alas the situation is already as it is. Now there is no going back. Bijit and Rakesh knew that now without killing their opponents, they can't leave.

The women fired from the cover of the car, and bullet just brushed pass bijits. Such expert shooting skill. Although bijit had trained, he was nowhere near as good as them. He looked towards his companion, who didn't seemed as lucky. Rakesh seemed to attract bullet as he was once again shot through, this time in his other shoulder. Grimacing in pain in showed an apologetic look. As although they were two people team, all the works seemed to be done by Bijit. He felt like he was pulling Bijit down along with him.

The firing continued for 5 or so minutes. No side were able to do serious damage to the other party that could disable them. But with two experts firing them, eventually a bullet hit bulleye to Bijits heart dealing the killing blow. Bijit gaped down to his chest with disbelief.

But more shock was displayed on Rakesh's face along with grief, pain, fear, anger and sadness all together. He knew it was over for them. Bijit protected him so many times already, but he couldn't do a single thing to prevent his death. Now Without the firing skills of Bijit he would be dead sooner or later. With this emotion he discarded his gun and held on to the single remaining grenade looted from their previous enemy, and sprinted towards the enemy. Enemy was once again shocked by his determination, and fired frantically. But even so Rakesh continued for 20 or so meters before his opponent. He showed a sad smile and threw the grenade. At such close range even if they evade the trajectory, the blast will be enough to kill them.

In those few thousands of a second,The moustache guy reacted and knocked the women away from range. But he himself had to take the full burnt of the blast.

In his dying breadth Rakesh saw one of his enemy burnt black, bits of his body parts flying in different direction. With a satisfying smile he closed his eyes….
