FLASHBACK - Warmth

After Ashton came, he stayed with Kate for only half an hour. Before leaving he mentioned that he won't be in town for the next week, so Kate had to take care of herself. When Kate asked where exactly he was going, he just said some business dealings. This made Kate more curious. Ashton was still in college, what business dealings? Even if Ashton's family does some business, they won't sacrifice his studies for it would they? Moreover, Ashton had never mentioned anything about his parents, nor what they do. After Ash left Kate immediately went back to reading the programming book. But why was her interest suddenly piqued in programming? Because she was going to build an application which would record all of Ashton's and his sister's conversations with each other as well as with other people without letting them know and directly send it to her phone. This way she could have a proof and also get information out of them. But this wasn't the only thing she would do. As for her other plan, it would depend on how clean Ashton's sister was.

Kate finished 4 programming books in the entire day which was practically impossible for a normal person. But Kate was anything but normal. This included learning the basics like HTML to C++, Java, Python and other high level programs. She even figured out the basis of hacking on her own and with a bit of practice no one would be able to say that she is an amateur. Now all she had to do was get well soon and get out of the hospital so that she could initiate her plans.

At around 8:30 PM, Kate's food feeding nurse came with her dinner which included Sushi, a bowl of rice and some tofu curry. This was Kate's all time favourite combo. Looking at the meal she got quite confused, so she directly spoke to the nurse.

"Actually,...umm may your know your name first?"

"Oh yeah, I completely forgot to introduce myself. My name is Emily. You can call me Aunt Emily."

"Oh okay! Aunt Emily how did you know what's my favourite food?"

"oh this is your favourite food? I don't know know I just thought that you would like it... actually I had a gut feeling that you would like it. I don't know why...."

"Oh.. anyways thank you!!"

Kate started eating her food and after eating 2 spoons she stopped and stared at her food.

"What happened? Is it bad?? I go get you something else. I am really sorry, it's been a long time since I made this dish."

"No Aunt! It's really amazing. Actually I felt as if I have eaten it somewhere before!" Just as Kate finished speaking she suddenly got a sharp headache and sub-consciously she dropped the plate of food. She held her head in between her hands, her forehead full of sweat suddenly. On seeing this the nurse panicked.

"Are you okay? What happened? Was it because of my food? Wait I'll call the Doctor!"

Before Emily could leave the ward, Kate held her hand. "No Aunt Emily, I'm fine, it's just a migraine. Usually it happens when I'm stressed but I don't know why it was triggered right now. It's okay, don't worry. I'm sorry I wasted your food." Kate bowed her head in dissapointment.

"Oh child, look at you. Not in the perfect shape and yet saying sorry. Are you sure my food didn't trigger it?"

"No aunty, I don't think so. Your food is amazing!"

"Anyways. now rest, and stop reading that book. You've been reading it since this afternoon, obviously your body would be tired, and then you are recuperating as well, your body need all the rest it can get!"

"Okay! Okay! I'll stop reading it! Stop nagging me Aunt Emily~"

Kate felt warmth all over her heart. So this is how it felt to be loved and cared by someone. Kate had lacked love and care since childhood so she was always yearning for it. And if anyone would care about her she could even give her life to protect them, that's how Kate was. That's how she felt for Aunt Emily, even though she had met her two days back only.

Emily then picked up the plate and called for a cleaner through the in-line. She then patted Kate's head, took her books, wished her good night and left her room while switching off the lights on the way. Kate laid on her bed, smiling like a little child, she then pulled up her bedsheet and dozed off.

She had to rest, she needed to save her strength for Ashton and his sister.
