A Day of Searching Fantasy Names

I started to write for this diary early this morning but my mentor read my Chapters 1-3 of which I prepared for his scrutiny. So I'm back now to continue.

By the way, if you ask me about this mentor, he is one of the early authors in Royal Road. His pen name is WhiteSamurai and I'm having this learning session with him for free for almost a year now. There's still one slot left for his course if anyone is interested. Leave a comment if you want to take his course. There, plugging it in.

Back to my topic. Yesterday was a grueling day. My mentor insisted on me to learn how to phonetically name my characters, places, and etc., so the readers will find it easy to read. Thus, I have to change the existing names I created. I spent almost the whole day searching for good names online. After that grueling research, my mind was totally fried. Tired, dead tired. Toasted, coal-roasted, stove-stir-fried, whatever you wanna call it.

However, my day didn't end there. I edited my story while changing the names. Writing fantasy story is difficult but exciting. Then I went back to reading novels again for relaxation. I also have fun joking with the authors in discord to take away my mind from my novel for a while.

Then this morning, (looking up with arms propped on the table, resting my chin on my hand) I don't know how to call it. Hmm, I'm more like being roasted alive this time. All chapter ones I presented to him didn't pass his approval. Wahhhhhhh!!!!! Sniffled, cried, kicking pillows on the bed, and whined.

I really appreciate his concern. My mentor wanted to help me get a good start while I haven't published a chapter. He saw the potential of my story plot line and wished me to write it slowly, not skimping the characters' development. He even set the Star Wars Trilogy as his example base on the characters. Unfortunately, he won't give me a guide on how to start chapter one. Here's what he said:

"I could tell you, but that would take away the lessons gained from overcoming the struggle.

I will point you in the direction, and you have to grasp it yourself.

I won't deny you the experience by giving you the answers, at least easily ~ :musical_note:"

But after a relentless and shameful begging, with a pretty please, of course, he gave in and wrote a bit of his guidance. Whew! I was really relieved. Nonetheless, it was still vague. Pouting. So meanie and cunning. Anyway, at least, I have something to ponder and analyze, so I can get what he was saying.

My family will be going to another island to rest today. I will take this opportunity to think and come up with my book's first chapter that really speaks.

I hope readers won't find this diary boring to read. Good day everyone. Have a happy TGIF.
