Elements

"You're a demon."

"Explain yourself."

All this was too new for Egun. Just yesterday, a werewolf attacked him, and today he was being told that he was a demon.

"It's very simple. You, Ryujin Egun, are a demon."

Luna Crowley repeated her words.

"Are you saying that I'm not human?"

"Exactly."

Egun nodded, but he still had doubts. Luna had said practically nothing. What exactly was a demon?

"So, Zelig is also a demon?"

Luna shook her head at Egun's question.

"No. He is a werewolf, a completely different race."

"I see."

Egun looked at the ground as he thought, Luna's explanation was bullshit. Luna patiently waited for any other question.

"I don't feel any different from anyone else. How do you know I'm a demon?"

"It's normal that you don't notice the difference. Your demonic nature and magical power were sealed, so the only difference between you and a human would be that your physique is much more powerful than any ordinary person".

"I see. Can it make any difference that I can see colors around people?"

Luna's pupils contracted.

"You... Can you see colors around people?"

"Yes, for example, I can see a kind of silvery aura around your body..."

Egun stopped when he saw that everyone was looking at him strangely.

"Hey, can't you see the colors?"

"Egun, since when can you see the colors?" Luna asked.

"Mmm, about six months ago, more or less."

Luna entered a meditative state.

"That coincides with the time when Maki started unlocking the seals. And to think that you have such a powerful innate ability, as was expected of a prince."

Luna looked Egun in the eye.

"Even among the most powerful magicians, there is no one who can see the color of the aura surrounding magicians. In fact, this is a skill that has only been seen once, so it is believed that it has never really existed. I read about it in an old book back at Golden Dawn's headquarters, and I never thought I was going to meet someone with such a skill."

"The ability to decipher every last secret of a magician's magic with your eyes. Eyes that were created in the image and likeness of the creator...

...God Eyes."

Luna sighed.

"Well, let me tell you a little more about yourself. You are not a normal demon, Egun. You are the only son of the late prince of hell, Lucifer. So you are the present Lucifer."

Egun nodded. Zelig had also called him Lucifer the night before. So he was the son of a prince of hell.

"Lucifer died eight years ago. Eight years ago, there was an incident of a black flame fire. Do you understand what I mean?" Luna asked Egun.

A fire eight years ago. Wasn't that the incident in which Egun lost his 'parents'? With all the clues Luna had given him, Egun knew the cause of that fire.

"The fire was related to me, wasn't it?"

Luna nodded.

"After the death of the former Lucifer, your demonic powers woke up. Your 'parents', two of Lucifer's subordinates, died after the explosion of your own powers."

"You would have died if Golden Dawn or any other organization in the world had found you first. But a member of a certain demonic house arrived at the same time as the rest of the organizations on the light side. Although the light guys outnumbered that person, they couldn't do anything against him. In the end, they formed a pact. All of Lucifer's powers were to be sealed, and he had to live within a neutral power."

"The Ryujin family."

Egun intervened.

"That's right. The Ryujin family adopted you and also signed the pact, swearing to raise you as the family's next heir while keeping control of the seals and at the same time, protecting you from any danger that might threaten you."

Egun's background was quite complicated. One day he was a normal boy who belonged to a wealthy family, and now he was a prince of hell. Although he didn't quite know what kind of position that was, he seemed to be quite powerful, or at least influential.

There was something, however, that Egun did not understand of all that Luna had said. It was not exactly an irrelevant fact, but Egun decided to leave it until the end to get as much information as possible.

"Can you tell me about magic?" Egun asked.

"That's what we're here for. Let's introduce you to the magical world."

Egun sharpened his senses. He couldn't miss a word of what Luna was about to say.

"To begin with, when talking about magic, you have to have two clear concepts. The elements and the jobs. Which one would you like to start with?"

Egun thought about it for a moment. Would it matter the order in which she explained either? Of course not.

"It doesn't matter the order, so elements."

Luna nodded. She extended a hand, and four colored lights appeared above her.

Red color in the shape of a flame.

Blue in the shape of a snowflake.

Purple color in the form of lightning.

Green in the form of a gust of wind.

"These are the four main elements. They are the ones that show the forces of nature and are the most common. I think to see the colors are pretty obvious, but I'll give you a little introduction as well."

"The color red represents fire. Blue represents ice. Purple represents thunder. Green represents wind."

"There are two other attributes, but I am unable to use them. These attributes are the dark attribute and the light attribute."

The colors disappeared again, and Luna turned to look at Arthur.

"Arthur, bring 'it'"

"Yes!"

Arthur got up and opened one of the closets in the room. He took a sort of transparent sphere out of the closet and placed it on the table, in front of Egun and Luna. The sphere looked like a crystal ball used in divination.

"What is this?" asked Egun.

"This is an 'elemental catalyst'. It will show to which of the elements you have affinity and how much affinity you have with them."

Egun looked at the crystal sphere. No matter how he looked at it, the crystal ball seemed to be an ordinary one.

"Your expression tells me that you don't think this ball has that capacity. Well, it can't be avoided. Put one hand on the crystal ball."

Egun didn't do what Luna immediately told her and looked at her carefully. Why should he do what she said? And what if she had bad intentions against him? Well, he was susceptible to the murderous intent, but there was also the possibility that she wouldn't want to kill him. Perhaps she wanted to use him, which was Egun's greatest concern right now.

Before, Luna had said that Golden Dawn would have killed him eight years ago. They belonged to Golden Dawn, but they had tried to undo their seals. They couldn't do it for pleasure. They had to have some reason to do it.

Egun placed his hand on the glass sphere while shouting internally, "Fuck it. It's not like I can face them at all."

He closed his eyes, hoping for the worst. One second, 2 seconds, 5 seconds, 10 seconds...

"Oh!"

Egun heard several people panting and opened his eyes. Three colors were shining brightly inside the crystal sphere.

Red and black shone so brightly that they threatened to break the crystal of the sphere, while purple struggled to make a gap between the two colors.

"I assumed you were going to have exceptional talent with the dark element since you are a Lucifer, but I never expected anything like this.

Even Luna-Senpai was surprised to see the result shown in the sphere.

"And does this mean?"

Egun asked carefully.

"This sphere shows your elementary affinities and your talent with such elements. Your affinity with the dark element and the fire element is sublime, and with the thunder element, it is at the level of a genius. Not bad at all, not bad at all."

"To get a 'not bad at all', and two times, from Luna, you seem to be quite talented, Egun-chan."

Ketsumiko Kaori smiled at Egun.
