Opposites often compliment each other

[23rd July 1988]

It's been around half a year since Euphemia and Fleamont had agreed to the joint request of Harry and Philip with regards to learning some Magic. Naturally, when they say 'Magic' it's not to say that the two boys were genuinely learning magic, after all, they currently were too young to be able to get wands.

There's exceptions for everything though of course, and that is with them being able to learn Magical theories, Occlumens, Legilimens and such.

Both the boys went on to be tutored on all the different kinds of Magical spells, the theory behind them and how one would perform the spell if they had a wand. This was not to say that they could actually perform the spells of course, but rather that they should have a slightly easier time in Hogwarts due to knowing the magical construct and reasoning behind each of the basic spells taught in year one.

Euphemia and Fleamont were very pleased to see the two boys growing up so well, although there was certainly a distinct difference in the level of talent between Philip and Harry, they mostly wrote it off because the two boys complimented each other with their differences. Philip was very good when it came to all kinds of theories, constructs, charms and practically anything else that came from a book in which he was allowed to learn. Harry in turn was very good when it came to flying, herbology, divination and the care of magical creatures, he seemed to resonate with most magical creatures on a personal/respectful level depending on the grade of creature.

For once, there was a decent disparity between Philip and Harry. Due to living out in the wilderness and away from the Muggle-world, and even some what of a distance away from the Wizardry-world, there was plenty of magical creatures around the Potter Mansion which could be seen frequenting the back/front gardens quite often. Naturally, this use to be a problem as not every magical creature is nice and friendly, infact, a large amount aren't all that friendly. As such, there use to be a great barrier around the Household to prevent such creatures from intruding and causing issues for the Potter couple.

One day, whilst Harry was learning about magical creatures in the vibrant, green front-yard, he spotted a small creature come up towards the household, it had a rather creepy appearance honestly.. what should of looked like a normal plant now had two arms and two legs wailing around with a happy smile on it's face once it saw Harry sitting there peacefully with Fleamont. Fleamont having noticed this, decided it'd be amusing to open the barrier slightly and allow for the baby-mandrake to make it's way on through and see the reaction of Harry.

As expected, Harry's eyes had lit up once he noticed what the creature was, but was still infact slightly afraid due to having never actually seen one before, but you could call it more as anticipation and trembling from excitement really.

Harry slowly stood up and made his way over to the trotting little plant, scooped the little one into his hands gently after noticing a subtle, warm smile coming from his Grandpa. Fleamont noted the reaction of both Harry and the baby Mandrake and called Harry on back over to the picnic table with a small hangover of leaves and nature before calmly speaking to his grandson.

"Harry, do you know what it means to have such high resonance with a Magical creature?" - Fleamont

Harry thought about it for a few seconds before realising he had never learned of such a thing before which surprised him, he looked at Fleamont with an eager expression to know more.

"Well, to put it simply, there is people that're really good with Magical creatures, and the handling of them and as such they're able to communicate with the creatures to a certain extent too. One of the greatest examples of this would have to be Newt Salamander, the man was a genius when it came to the handling of creatures. There is also a term for such people, " - Fleamont

"Nature-Animagus" - ?

Fleamont and Harry both look towards the direction in which the voice came from, only to notice Philip sitting down on the overhang of the roof above the front porch, gently resting one leg off the edge with the other under his body so as to support his weight and watching the scene between the small Mandrake and Harry play out.

"Philip!" Harry said as he jumped up in excitement to which Philip returned a gentle and warm smile.

In this situation, most parental figures would most likely tell him to get down or at least to be careful, but the trust in which Euphemia and Fleamont placed in him as the slightly-older brother was on another level. Naturally, his maturity played a part in this also.

It was more amazing how Fleamont himself hadn't actually seen Philip sat up there the whole time. Then again, you don't tend to pay attention to every small detail and have your guard-up around those that're family.

'These boys never cease to amaze me' Fleamont thought whilst looking at Harry and Philip now chatting merrily. Euphemia came out of the front door at this moment only to see her three boys chatting happily, she felt so blessed to see that Philip had been warming up to them much more too, after all, it was very rare to have someone that could make him smile so intently.

As Philip came down to sit with the rest of them, you could notice a very small shiver from the baby mandrake, especially as Philip was getting closer, it began to shiver uncontrollably before letting out a slight wail and hiding in Harry's sleeves.

This situation was quite peculiar and unexpected, naturally, everyone had noticed this happen.

"Philip, don't go scaring the poor thing too much. You should know that a baby mandrake could never harm Harry" - Fleamont said with a slight grin to which both Harry and Euphemia laughed.

"I didn't do it intentionally, you know." Philip replies with a curt smile.

Fleamont looked at Euphemia for a second before asking Harry if he could hold the baby mandrake up to Philip for a second and step away from it. Harry did as instructed and took a step back to see what would happen.

The instant that the baby mandrake saw Philip again, it began to scream and cry uncontrollably which was honestly quite unbearable for anyone and especially so with Philip as he liked the peace and quiet.

Just as everyones ears were being tortured to no end,

"Be quiet" - Philip says with a small frown.

to which the baby mandrake instantly shivered once and went dead silent thereafter.
