Christmas Day...buying pets?

Their holiday in America had come to an end, on the last day, they had all gone shopping around the various shops dotted on the streets. Philip headed straight back towards the bookshop he had seen previously and bought a bulk load of different yet interesting books for him to read back in England. Harry went ahead with Fleamont and looked around some American Quidditch stores which sold different kinds of brooms, bludgers and quaffles.

Once all was said and done, they returned back together to the original 'motel' styled room.

Harry wanted to have a try at opening the door again in the same way that Euphemia did so previously. He recounted what she had done previously before gently knocking on the door 3 times and then proceeding to turn the door knob counter-clockwise.

The door slowly opened allowing for the family of four to return back into the original room in which they apparated from, Fleamont put his hands on the shoulders of Harry and Philip whilst Euphemia held Harry's hand and Philip had a smaller version of Fen in his arms.

[Part of a Year later - 25th December 1990]

Yet again, the end of the year had come around. Philip has finished reading all the books within the Potter Library, including the ones he had gotten from America and thus had asked if they could travel to Diagon Alley and see if he could get any new material from higher levels that he could find in Flourish and Blotts, if he remembered correctly, they had also passed a second hand book-shop whilst they were there which he could take a look through too.

Harry and Philip were both growing by the day and as such needed some new clothing too, which made for an even better excuse to take a trip to Diagon Alley for Christmas, after all, there was still a lot of shops open for Christmas.

Harry, Philip, Fleamont and Euphemia got ready to leave in some more presentable clothing when Fen swiftly turned into his smaller form and jumped straight into Philip's chest as though he wasn't willing to let Philip leave him again... Euphemia, Fleamont and Harry sighed and smiled knowing that they couldn't really leave Fen without Philip as it would just make things more difficult than they need to be. They all then used some Floo Powder under their marble fireplace before promptly saying "Diagon Alley" to which they 5 of them ended up in Leaky Cauldron. Despite it being Christmas day, it was infact more bustling than ever, it seemed like a lot of people had the same idea to go and spend Christmas day out rather than being stuck indoors.

All around the 'pub', you could see green and red lights dangling across the ceiling with a rather splendid Christmas tree sat directly in the middle with all the tables moved around the tree. People were cheering and singing merrily with a muggle-item known as a 'radio' which neither Harry and Philip had seen before leaving them rather fascinated by it.

The mood was rather contagious making the 4 of them feel a lot merrier too. They all quickly paid their respects to Tom, the owner of Leaky Cauldron and made their way into Diagon Alley once again.

As a Christmas gift, Fleamont and Euphemia decided to let both Harry and Philip choose out their own pets, and they'd both get an owl too of course. This would become rather useful for sending messages and depending on the type of pet they get, it could help them along their path at some point too.

They made their way over to a shop known as Eeylop's Magical Creature Emperium where you could get almost every pet up to XXXX tier, naturally, XXXXX was also possible... but for an extremely high price. They each entered the store one by one only to see the store wasn't too packed, there was two staff, both quite young and then a man who appeared to be the manager of the place with a very neat yet curt appearance.

The 4 of them walked in and started looking around, although this shop looked rather small on the outside, it appears as though the shop has been enchanted with some form of magic to make it look smaller when in reality it's quite big on the inside. An example of something similar would be the suitcase Newt Salamander used in the past.

Harry was quite shocked due to the amount of magical creatures there was placed all around the shop, many in cages and some behind locked spaces. Philip and Harry went to take a look around whilst Fleamont and Euphemia made their way over to the manager and began chatting away.

Philip knew that a lot of magical creatures were afraid of him which would make it quite hard for him to get a pet today, however, he wasn't truly that bothered as he always had Fen to come back to.

Harry was taking his time greeting all the creatures to which they responded in their various different voices as though it was natural to do so. As he was searching amongst the various different kinds of creatures, he came across a grandiose display of owls. When he went to greet them, he was met with the same reactions as before, at least that was the case until he came across a certain one with snow like feathers and pearly eyes. She would look at him with a strong sense of pride in her eyes, when Harry saw this, he knew almost instantly that she was the one he wanted.

Philip was similarly looking around the store, but naturally, almost all of them froze in fear just by looking at him. This also included the ones that're XXX tier too. Fortunately, he hadn't been to see the XXXX tier yet or they may have just instantly tried to kill him due to retaliation.

Fen snuggled further into Philip's arms when he noticed the reaction of the other magical creatures. He felt quite prideful that he could be around Philip without any kind of oppression whereas these creatures could barely even look him in the eye, making him feel far superior.

"Boys, have you seen any you like yet?" Euphemia asks whilst making her way with Fleamont and the Manager towards them.

"Yeah! I think i'd like this one if that's okay?" Harry asks politely

The trio go to take a closer look at the creature in which Harry was so interested in, only to see it was a rather standard snowy owl, however, they still didn't say anything as it was rather rude to do so.

"Not yet.." Philip says aloud whilst continuing to play around with Fen and glance towards the creatures from time to time.
