More Classes

Professor McGonagall then started to teach us how to Transfigure basic items such as needles, we spent almost the entire class just trying to get the match to turn into a needle. Philip had failed on his initial attempt as everyone else had, but then he made up for it by successfully forming a needle on the second attempt once he had gotten the fundamentals down through trial and error.

It turned out Lilith was actually slightly better than Hermione coming in second place managing to complete the needle on her 5th attempt whilst Hermione completed hers on the 6th. Almost the entirety of Ravenclaws First year students had completed their needles before the class had ended, leaving them with the gain of yet another 10 points for Ravenclaw. Philip knew it would only be this easy to gain points so early on, as time progressed, it would become much harder to do so through such basic means like impressing the Professor.

None of the Hufflepuffs had managed to create a needle, however, one of them had managed to at least make the end of the match more a little pointy, but not sharp. They headed off after paying their respects to Professor McGonagall before making their way out of the classroom.

It was now Lunchtime in Hogwarts and thus they all made their ways down to the hall. Once they made it their, Philip noticed Harry sitting with Fay and Seamus whilst chatting and eating. He made his way over to say hello whilst Harry introduced Fay and Seamus to him, Philip greeted the two before making his way back over to the Ravenclaw table and sitting besides Hermione and Lilith once more.

After they finished their meals, it was time for the next lesson which happened to be Flying class. They made their ways out onto a small courtyard just outside of one of the main towers in which they could see from the Ravenclaw tower. This time, it was only the Ravenclaws First year students attending and thus, there wasn't too many people, only 18.

There stood an older woman with rather spiky, white hair and vibrant yellow eyes. Her eyes formed slits almost similar to a snake or a cat. They all went over to the woman, and stood in line just before her.

"It seems that you've all made it here. Welcome to Flying classes, my name is Professor Rolanda Hooch and I shall be teaching you the basics of how to Fly using a broomstick today. Is there any questions?" Professor Hooch asked to which Hermione stuck her hand high in the air.

"Yes, Ms. Grangar?" She asked.

"Can people fly without broomsticks?" Hermione asked with a questioning look.

"Well... yes, they certainly could, Ms. Grangar. However, that is something people consider to be a Dark Art, it isn't something that will be taught within these Classes." Professor Hooch replied with a small frown etched across her face, "Now, please make your way over to the brooms, stand beside them and hold your hand out just above it. When I give you the go, I want you to call the broomstick to your hand." She said once more whilst ushering the students over to the brooms neatly placed a few feet apart from each other on the grass.

They each made their ways over to the brooms one by one. Philip stood besides his assigned broom whilst holding out his hand above it. After everyone was hovering their hand above the broomsticks, she called 'Go' to which they each quickly began saying aloud, 'Come'. No one got the broom to lift up upon the first try besides Philip though.

Philip silently muttered "Come" to which the broom swiftly entered his hand. He stood there and just watched on as the other students attempted to lift their brooms. He noticed that Hermione and Lilith's brooms were shaking slightly but still not lifting. Luckily, for Philip, he had practiced with the broom a few times before when he use to play with Harry, and thus was already use to it.

Hermione and Lilith had soon managed to lift their brooms after a few tries. They refused to accept Philip's help when he offered, it seemed as though they had some small competitive spirits building up in them too.

After each student had successfully managed to get their broomsticks into their hands through magic, Professor Hooch then asked them to stand besides their brooms once more and prepare for a simple hovering on their brooms.

They each got prepared on their brooms to which she counted down, at the end of the countdown they all hovered gently above the ground. There was a few exceptions to this, though. Quite a few students had fallen off of the brooms due to imbalance, but soon got use to it after a couple more attempts.

She then asked for them to play a very simple game of pass whilst hovering and trying to keep their balance on the brooms. She noticed that Philip seemed completely natural whilst on the broom.

"Mr. Potter, if you don't mind me asking, have you and your brother every rode broomsticks in the past?" Professor Hooch asked, to which Philip turned around whilst standing atop the broom and balancing near perfectly.

"Yes, Professor Hooch. My brother, Harry is a very big fan of Quidditch and thus we were taught from a young age how to ride brooms and such. I've never been too keen on it though, it's my brothers hobby really." Philip said impassively.

Professor Hooch stared at Philip for a short while before looking back towards the other students. No one knew what she was thinking but they just accepted what Philip said like she did and decided to keep practicing amongst themselves. After practicing for a short while, almost everyone within the class had gotten use to riding the broom, at least in the hovering state not too far from the ground.

After said class was over, they had a small break once more which the trio spent talking about pets and which ones Hermione and Lilith would like to get when they went back to Diagon Alley. Hermione thought it would be nice to get black cat whilst Lilith was more rearing to the option of getting a dog that was either small, or could shift into a smaller version of itself at will.

For the final lesson of the day, it was the Potions class. They made their way into the class to see that the Professor was already sat down at his desk waiting for all the students to enter the room. Currently, they were with the Hufflepuffs once more, albeit separated on either sides of the room.
