Chapter Ten: Ubria- The One who’s hurt the most.
I grunt. Slowly opening my eyes I try to adjust to the light in my room. Light? I jump up. It isn't supposed to be light already. Slowly the knowledge dawns on me. Yesterday, the drinks she gave us. She spiked our drinks. Why? What is her goal? Then it clicks. The conversation we had yesterday, she agreed to marry me, but she looked so sad. She didn't want to alert me.
But I know what is happening. I know what she is doing.
She is going to sacrifice herself.
I run into the corridor towards Wěi Yì's room immediately and ram on the door. I hear someone fall of their bed and stumble towards the door. Slowly it opens. "Hmmmfph, what is it? It is so early?" I shove him out of the way and barge into his room. Where I find Miss Fāng Hé still knocked out on the bed. I turn around swiftly not wanting to see anything inappropriate. I cough slightly to inform my brother of the indecent scene I walked into. "Oh god! I am so sorry bro!" He buries her under the sheets. "Why are you here?"
I get serious right of the bat. "I need permission to go into Nuǎn Jīng's room. I have a bad feeling. Look outside, we should have been on the road already. Something is not right." He nods. "Right, I'll go with you." So together we walk towards her room. When we arrive, it is very quiet. I see that the two guards we put on her room are in deep sleep as well. But they didn't attend the party. I check his neck directly and find a tiny needle in one of his accupoints. When I remove it he wakes up slowly. "G-general?" I nod sternly. I stand up and knock on her door. "Nuǎn'er? Are you awake?" But there was no answer.
I look at Wěi and he gives me permission to proceed. I take a deep breath and open the door. But I am met with an empty room. I pale visibly when I slowly walk towards her bed. There are papers scattered on top of it, but I am too scared to pick one up. Too scared what she may have written.
I see our names written on all the different papers. I look at Wěi but he is focused on the letters. I swallow slowly and reach for the one with my name.

Future mother in law? What is he talking about? I try to say something, but my throat is too dry to speak so I can only croak a little. "I'll explain it to you then." And he takes out a letter from his pocket.

But I know that if I could reach Chàng he could help me rescue her. A guard walks back inside and removes my cuffs. Then he hands me water. I grab his arm. "Where are you t-aking me?"
"To pack milady. For your journey to the Silent Sect. You are permitted to join them even when you are not pure anymore. You are allowed to bring your handmaiden and her husband as escort." Then he signs me to start walking. But when I want to I am too weak so I start to fall. The man catches me and lifts me up. "I'll carry you then, Milady. We cannot delay."
After dropping me off at my courtyard he notifies me of the guards around us, saying it is a courtesy from the Crown Prince to ensure my safety and he tells me that he will be back to collect me in five hours. In my courtyard I find Bāo Yǔ and Yán Hé waiting for me. In tears they run to me when they see I have returned. "Oh I am so happy you are back!" Then she spots the bruising on me and my weight-loss. "What did they do to you there! I am going to make a quick dinner for you. Yán'er please grab some bandages and medicine for me to apply. Then please start with the preparations." I see Yán Hé nod. Then I hug Bāo Yǔ. "I'm so happy you are still safe!" She hugs me back and nods as well. "I'll bandage you first, then I'll make you something to eat and after that I'll join my husband in packing." I nod slightly, completely worn out from my time in prison.
When bandaged and fed I ask Bāo Yǔ to fetch my Poison Kit. "What is your plan milady?" I smile softly. "I want to make sure my daughter will not be infected with the seed of that horrid prince. So when he sends me off later, I'll make sure that he will become infertile. Forever." Bāo Yǔ lets my answer sink in for a bit and then she nods smiling. "I cannot agree to you more milady!" I sigh. "Too bad I can't make him impotent completely. That would be too suspicious. But this will make due. She won't have to bare his children, and this world will stay free of that stained bloodline." Bāo Yǔ nods again and continues packing.

"Courtesy of your daughter, and me your future son in law and Emperor." I turn to walk away when I feel a slender hand on my wrist. "Wait."
I turn back to face her, lucky for her my mood is to good to be ruined. "What is it, Lady Yīn Zhì?" Her eyes harden. "I want you to grand me one wish." I look at her. "Depends on the wish." A tiny smile appears on her face. "I want you to give me a blood oath. That you won't harm my daughter." I look at her in ridicule. But she remains serious. "Fine, if that would make you happy, mom." I decide to rub it in again. I see in her face that it stings. Mission accomplished.
She starts. "I hereby accept the Oath of Blood from the Crown Prince Xié'è Fàngsì. He swears to uphold his honor and never harm my daughter Zhōng Nuǎn where it physically or mentally." Then she hands me a knife. My guardsman takes it first and tests it for poison. After he clears it I cut my palm with it and return the knife to her. "This wound will bare witness to my vow, and the scar will keep me to my word. I, Crown Prince Xié'è Fàngsì, will honour the Blood Oath with the receiver, Zhōng Yīn Zhì." After I completed the ritual she nods at me. "Thank you, your Highness. I hope you will treat her right. She is all that I have left." I smirk at that. "Oh you don't have to worry, mother. She'll be just fine with me." And I amplify my meaning by licking my lips. She has to hold in her anger and disappears into her carriage.
I watch as it leaves in the distance. The guard returns with the resident healer who binds my hand. Soon she will be mine. And then the fun can begin.
