Arnold was in his office the next afternoon when his phone buzzed. The number was unfamiliar, but something told him to answer.
"Hello?"
There was a pause before a small, nervous voice said, "It's Ethan."
Arnold's heart skipped a beat. "Ethan! Is everything okay?"
"I… I want to see you again," Ethan said quickly. "But I don't want my mom or Andrew to know."
Arnold hesitated. "Ethan, I don't want to cause trouble for you at home."
"I don't care about that," Ethan said, his voice firm. "I just want to talk to you. Please."
Arnold's resolve hardened. "All right. Tell me when and where."

Ethan chose a park near his school, a place where he wouldn't be easily noticed. When Arnold arrived, Ethan felt a strange mix of excitement and fear.
They sat on a bench, the air thick with unspoken questions.
"I want to know about you," Ethan said finally. "About where I come from."
