New Dawn

Waking up in a familiar home was a fleeting desire that was not something that Gavel could expect. The sorrow and disappointment of waking up in his abandoned home, the ruins that he saw. It was all filled with misery, the tomb felt like nothing. The substance that he once felt was now lacking.

The intruders paid no mind to respecting the holy ground, instead they ran around and took every opportunity to take scattered items from their resting places, desecrating the tomb.

Gavel watched from his slumped position as the intruders did as they pleased.

"AAH! I see something interesting!" A fat noble shouted at the outermost area of the room.

"I think this is golden armour!"

SLASH

a skeletal knight quickly got up from its position, executing the intruder.

"Filth- get out~" the skeleton spoke.

"Heh... it's a tomb guardian... lucky we brought along Sir Leone." The first intruder announced smugly.

A towering armoured figure appeared from behind the intruder, wielding a bright holy sword. Sir Leone slowly walked toward the tired skeleton, pointing his holy sword at it.

"Foul wretch! Feel the light of the gods-"

SPLAT

A split second passed as the holy knight fell to the ground; headless. Blood covered the surrounding area, filling it with the stench of death and rot. The nobles started to scream and run for the entrance, only for it to close as they approached it.

"DAMMIT! A SKELETON GUARDIAN CAN'T DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT-"

THUMP

A figure approached the group, dressed in the finest armour that could be made. A dark crimson, adorned with adamantine etchings, and dragon scale ornaments.

"What in the world is that?!"

The figure stopped moving as it found itself within 20 feet of his prey.

"I am Gavel, The Last Pillar Of Nazarick."

The figure then proceeded to slaughter each and everyone of the intruders, leaving not a single soul alive. When the deed was done, the tired skeleton approached Gavel.

"You speak of the Pillars Of Nazarick?" The skeleton asked.

"Yes."

"So you must be an ancestor of this tomb." The skeleton spoke.

Gavel held a disappointed posture as he saw the weakness of the skeleton before him, feeling that his once proud tomb was now lost.

"How long has it been since this tomb was lost?"

The skeleton scratched its skull.

"I believe that this tomb was lost during the Dusk Age." The skeleton spoke.

"And who are you?" Gavel asked.

"I sincerely apologise for not saying earlier. I am Legion, the last caretaker of this tomb." The skeleton spoke as he bowed his head.

"What happened during this Dusk Age?"

The skeleton shook its head as it stared at the ground.

"I was there during the final battle. I was only awakened a week before. Our grand leader Ainz, was holding the last defence of our sacred lands. The Great Guardians were beside Him, commanding the grand army. However, even with our immensely powerful forces, a single man was able to destroy our defenders, using a world item. Luckily it has been destroyed-"

"What happened to Ainz and the guardians?"

"They were killed by the world item."

"How long has it been?"

"1000 years have passed since the battle."

"A Millenia..."

"This is just too cruel."
