Achilles’ Archery

The Devastated Banshees were only a few meters away when a ray of light akin to a shooting star whizzed past most of the them and struck the head of the lead banshee. The ray revealed itself to be an arrow that had embedded itself into the banshee's skull!

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

Four more rays of light flew through the void, each reaching their targets with superb accuracy! As soon as a banshee was struck by an arrow, it would immediately fall to the ground and disintegrate, leaving nothing behind but a pile of experience and pitiful loot.

The Agonised Banshee looked to the source of these arrows and roared at the ever-accelerating Achilles. Achilles had taken his Metalos Blade and had placed it within a grove in his shield which he had placed on his back. In his hand was now a bow that had arrow after arrow loaded onto it with the swiftness of continuous thunderbolts.

Achilles was able to draw strength from the Metalos Blade even as he was moving, allowing Truth and concept-infused arrows to find their target. So long as he was in contact with it in some way, his class skill was still in effect.

Macedonian Charge allowed Achilles to infuse the power built up from his momentum into any attack, even projectiles. His Class, Armoury Maestro, allowed him mastery over four weapons: the bow, the sword, the shield and the spear. It was a class for weapon masters capable of adapting to many a situation, accompanied by quite a few unique skills.

Ordinarily, a Devastated Banshee needed to be killed 3 times, but if one blow was strong enough, it could get destroyed with a single strike. In his normal state, Achilles would barely be able to harm a Devastated Banshee with an arrow. But thanks to his increased level, application of concepts and his momentum, he was able to reach a level where he could display combat power far outside what he was normally capable of.

The other banshees turned around and screeched at the far-off Achilles, but he ignored them and kept moving around the riverbank and widening the eye of the storm with each lap. With the urging of the Agonised Banshee, the Devastated banshees had no choice but to charge on. They were now wearier of Achilles and attempted to remain intangible until they got close to Will, unfortunately, there was now a problem.

This problem was discovered by the banshee nearest to Will. It remained intangible and tried approaching him from his blind side, but its large frame was immediately bisected by Will the moment it entered a two-meter radius.

Will's yin-imbued sword force was like a sharp knife cutting through butter, slicing through the banshee with incredible ease.

The Agonised Banshee frowned while the others could not quite understand how Will had managed to cut an intangible Devastated Banshee. Will of course had no intention of explaining anything and stood still on the spot with his sword in hand. He kept staring at the Agonised Banshee with a provocative gaze that seemed to be asking a question.

'Is that all you got?'

Other banshees approached Will and got vertically split down the middle with incredible ease, regardless of whether they were coming from the top or the sides. So long as a Banshee got within a few meters of Will, it would meet its demise.

Jingsung Ha materialized next to Narcissus' spiritual projection and observed the ongoings with an expression of approval, "This intangibility skill is a yin-based technique reliant on the death attribute. Against a practitioner of yin, solitude and death, it's a useless ability against the boy if he is in his most negative state." Narcissus agreed as he watched the battle while casually stealing glances at his reflection in his handheld mirror. Jingsung Ha shook his head and decided that it was best to remain quiet and simply observe.

Solitude, death and yin were negative energies and forces with their counterparts being entanglement, life and yang respectively. Will was unable to become intangible, but within a state where he was utilizing all three negative abilities, intangibility fuelled by negative arts of a weaker standard when compared to his own was useless.

The mortals could not notice, but there was a thin film of Solitude on the edge of Will's blade. Each and every strike he gave out carried with it the ability to isolate. This had many applications, but the simplest utilization of this skill was to break the bonds between particles, both physical and spiritual. In other words, if one reached the pinnacle of being a Solitary Sword Sovereign, one could cut through any spiritual or physical matter.

Will was far from reaching such a state, but it was more than enough for him to deal with a few ordinary Sector Bosses. The Agonised Banshee was irritated by the current turn of events and raised an arm to the skies. A supermatrix that covered the majority of the roof of the pocket they were in appeared in everyone's vision above the open palm of the banshee.

The matrix was rich in yin energy and the aura of death, causing most of the humans observing it to feel chills down their spines.

"It's a large-scale Area of Effect attack! We need to get the hell out of here now." Sophia exclaimed in fear as she saw the large spell matrix form above their heads.

"Alison has the escape spell ready for us so don't worry. As soon as anything strange happens we will escape easily." Comforted Giselle.

The girls were frightened not because of the type of spell, but rather what was casting the spell.

World Bosses were creatures capable of borrowing the World Energy in their immediate surroundings to cast extremely destructive large-scale abilities. These often took time, but often resulted in many a party of level 99 users being wiped out. Even a confident powerhouse like Ulysses would not be able to resist such an attack if he was at full power, because this was the power of the world itself.

As the matrix grew in size, it siphoned the dragon-force-infused poison into it, using the poison as a fuel to strengthen itself. The clear area they were standing in became larger and larger until a few moments later, the volume of the clearing had tripled.

The matrix siphoned the poison from above while Achilles' charge destroyed the poison laterally, resulting in the clearing now being incredibly large and growing by the second.

"That Swordsman is suicidal, why would he allow a World Boss to cast a super scale spell so easily? Does he think he is as strong as a level 125 powerhouse?"

Lisa's question was on everyone's mind as they could not understand why Will did nothing. Will stood there casually dealing with the devastated Banshees while the Agonised Banshee cast its spell. In fact, Will's smile became even more pronounced with time, like he was watching a show.

'It's as if he is intentionally provoking the Agonised Banshee into casting that spell. Could that be his plan?' Giselle wondered.

Lisa looked toward Alison and the latter understood the former's signal. She was ready to cast a teleportation spell that would allow the ladies to escape this region once the Agonised Banshee cast this skill. They had no choice but to escape, as only a level 125 powerhouse at the standard of a middle world would have the chance of blocking such an attack.

Normally, World Bosses only cast such spells as a last resort as they drained the creatures of most of their spiritual energy and left them defenceless during casting, but the Banshee felt like it was caught between a rock and a hard place.

The human swordsman could easily block its attacks and cut through its intangible minions while Achilles' sniping killed the others that were not intangible. Lyra's support magic and Metalos Surge were causing problems to no end, yet every creature could only attack Will.

'Since you plan to give me all the time in the world, I will use it gratefully.'

At this point, the death aura emanating from the spell matrix was so intense it started to manifest a black fog-like substance that floated around the matrix—causing the thick stench of death and destruction to waft across the entire battlefield.
