chapter 4

Lucy was terrified at the turn of events . She was so shaken that Emily had to bring her back to the dorm. She didn't say a word on the waay back .Emily took her to her room and sat her down on her bed.

"Let us stay here till you calm down okay ? " Emily said patting Lucy gently on her head.

"Emily …"

Lucy looked at Emily and noticed how unfazed she seemed . Lucy couldn't stop imagining all the worst scenarios of how Anna would treat them after this incident.

" Em , what were you even thinking? As much as I appreciate you for taking a strong stand for me how can you do that knowing we would be in trouble after this. How can you be so calm and collected right now."

Emily could understand how frightened Lucy was from her trembling voice.

"Lucy what's the worst thing that can happen ? We would become outcasts ? We will be ignored by everyone ? I couldn't care less about such people . People like that feed off your fear and the more you let them the more entitled they feel . I would rather be alone with my best friend than be among those snakes who just know how to bully others."

Lucy looked at the strong and valiant friend of hers. It has always been like this Emily always stood up for what's right. Lucy understood what Emily said and was feeling ashamed of herself for not being able to stand up for herself.

Emily understood what Lucy was thinking ." Lucy none of this was your mistake . Don't beat yourself up. Okay ? "

"Okay" Lucy agreed as she sighed.

Emily thought for a second and said , "You know what let's skip the next class and rest . Since tomorrow is Saturday we will have a movie night today. Are you fine with it ? "

Lucy nodded her head . Emily tucked her in her bed .

" Lucy don't be intimidated by anyone okay ? just be yourself and remember ,that I am always here for you . " Hearing this made Lucy comfortable and she slept peacefully.

Emily left the dorm .She wanted to go back to class with Lucy but felt that she should let the situation calm down a little .People would probably forget about it by the morning.

Emily started walking towards her class and she could feel the piercing gazes everybody gave her. She ignored them but the number only increased. She quickly made her way to the restroom and locked the door from inside.

Emily told Lucy to be strong but she herself wasn't ready to face anyone. The unfamiliar surroundings, people and incidents just made her lose hope of a happy high school life.

Emily looked at the bracelet dangling on her hand. She was reminded of her mother and she knew if Her mother was here she would've applauded Emily for taking a stand.

Emily felt a little better now and she got up .She wasn't ready to go to class either . S he decided to spend some time in the library to keep her mind off of everything

She enters the library and starts searching for a nice book to read. She notices some of Anna's friends over there.

Emily didn't want to be seen by any of her friends so she takes a novel and sits at the farthest corner of the room. When she thinks she finally settled down to read. She hears two girls squealing with excitement Annoyed by the noises she turns to her left to see two girls staring intently at her.

Emily was confused by their behavior but continued with her work.

"Aren't you Emily Williams? The girl who fought with Anna ? ! "

"I fought with her ? She tried to bully my friend and I just stood up for her that's it ." Emily calmly replied turning the page of the book she was reading. She was sure these girls wanted to mock her or something and wasn't ready to converse much with them and concentrated on reading .

"You are so cool!!! I couldn't have imagined someone standing up against Anna ."

Emily was taken aback someone was actually glad about it. She felt happy. "Thanks."

"I am Milly and she is Jenna. Nice to meet meet you Emily." They both extended their hands for a handshake.

Delighted Emily shook their hands and they all sat down together. They started talking about the life at Harbor High and the scene caused at the cafeteria. Milly suddenly paused for a second and started squealing again.

"What is wrong with you ? " Jenna asks her irked by her actions.

" Isn't that Shawn , Shawn Martin ! "

"Oh yeah you are right. It's Shawn ." Jenna casually replied.

Emily had never seen this boy before . Few girls were flocked up and stood behind a book rack him and were immersed in looking into his deep blue eyes and pitch black hair. He didn't even glance at them as he was busy reading.

" Oh my god isn't he just too perfect , I mean look at him !" Milly squealed .

" maybe I should try my luck and ask him out now ," she added

" Don't even think about it . Anna will make your life a living hell ." Said Jenna

"Why ? Is she his girlfriend ?"

" No . They have been friends since childhood and seems that Anna likes him . Atleast that's how it seems from her actions ."

" Why ? What'd she do ? "

" Well, apparently some girl proposed to Shawn in front of everybody in the class and Anna spread rumors about how she had multiple plastic surgeries for Shawn and that she was a nymphomaniac. That girl couldn't take the hate and quit Harbor High ."

"What ? ! That's horrible why would she do that ? "

" Exactly and what's worse nobody questions her behaviour . You were the first one Emily ."

Emily was surprised at how much of a devil Anna was. "Can't believe she'd stoop so low for such petty things. What about Shawn is he just like her?" Emily asked out of curiosity."

" No I don't think so cause Shawn is the only person Anna actually values and tries to act like a saint in front of him. Wonder if he knows that or ignores it ." Jenna said looking at Shawn .

The classes were done and students started coming into the Library. Emily could tell that most of them came to catch a glimpse of Shawn by the way they were acting. One girl who came on noticed Emily and started whispering something to her friend and so Emily got alert and rushed out .
