Kindred Spirits

Seeing another new face coming over to greet him, Min-soo waited expectantly for the introduction.

"CEO Lee, my name is Cha Jang-mi and I am President Sun's new secretary. He is awaiting your arrival. Please."

"Thank you, Jang-mi." Min-soo smiled before walking through the open door into Uncle Sun's office, followed after by Jang-mi.

Uncle Sun's office had a nice view over the surroundings, obviously not as great as Min-soo's own view, but that was beside the point. Min-soo admired the various cultural artefacts on display in Uncle Sun's office.

Min-soo saw Uncle Sun get up from behind his oak desk and make his way over to him.

"Ah, Min-soo it is good to see you're back. I was just about to contact you over hiring some security for the company. Take a seat, take a seat." Uncle Sun guided Min-soo over to a coffee table and some seats.

Jang-mi asked in a friendly tone, "CEO Lee would you like a tea, coffee or water?"

"Tea, please." Min-soo replied with a smile.

"Jang-mi, bring me a cup too, thanks."

"Right away, CEO Lee, President Sun."

Jang-mi headed to a side room and closed the door, leaving the two men in the room.

Min-soo spoke first, "Uncle Sun, I like what you've done to the place. Looks like you've recruited quite a few new people."

"Haha. Thank you, thank you. No need for the excessive praise, after all it is still your money I am spending. I ran it through Hyun-woo, of course. He said that these trivial matters did not require your attention. I hope you don't mind."

"I'm fine with it. I trust the two of you. So, what else have you done in my absence?" Min-soo decided to probe.

"Right." Uncle Sun then walked over to his desk and pulled out a file from a draw. "Here, take a look at this." He said as he handed the file over to Min-soo.

Min-soo opened it and saw a detailed report on Uncle Sun's actions during Min-soo's absence. Min-soo looked over at Uncle Sun with eyes full of respect and felt that his trust had definitely not been misplaced. His Grandfather truly had a good eye for people.

"No need to look at me like that. Jang-mi was the one that put it together."

Min-soo skimmed through the nearly ten pages of events.

"Wow, Uncle Sun you have been very busy in the past couple of weeks I have been away. You even hired a HR manager."

"Ah, yes, he is an old friend of mine, has worked in the industry for nearly as long as I have. I can introduce him to you in a little while, if you have the time."

"Sure, Uncle Sun, I noticed the lack of security for our buildings, Jae-eun mentioned earlier that you were waiting for my approval?" Min-soo asked with interest.

"Yes, yes, I was just about to contact you over it, I have narrowed it down to three companies. All three of them have great potential it's just that depending on your goals and how far down the line you're already thinking about, each company might have different appeals. Take this company for example, they are one of the largest security companies in the country, in fact they also have quite a few contracts with Antares. However, this would mean their resources would be more stretched and of course, your Father's orders would take precedence." Uncle Sun relayed in a measured voice.

Min-soo put down the report on the events during his absence and took the folder proffered by Uncle Sun on the security proposals. Quickly skimming through the first company, Min-soo moved onto the other two.

However, unlike the other two, the last one was the name of a person rather than a company.

Min-soo looked over to Uncle Sun and asked with some curiosity, "Who's this, Park Tae-hong?"

"I figured he would attract your attention, he is a former Special Forces soldier, was discharged a couple years ago, recently found a security company but it's come under some trouble recently and now he is out of a job." Uncle Sun relayed concisely.

"What kind of trouble? Financial?"

"Yes and no. He just had happened to run into the same misfortune as you did. The one that bears the name Kang Dong-hyun."

Min-soo's eyes widened in surprise, a familiar name, a far too familiar name had come up.

"So, what did the esteemed President Kang's son do to Park Tae-hong?" Min-soo asked sarcastically.

"Well, it ended far less tragically than in your case, but Park Tae-hong landed the security detail for a holidaying foreign celebrity. You can probably see where this is going, but Dong-hyun came across the female celebrity at a bar and being the man that he is, then tried to pressure the lady into coming home with him. The lady refused and when she tried to leave the bar, Dong-hyun had a couple of his men follow her and well, when they tried to grab her, Tae-hong who had been shadowing her beat the crap out of the four men. For a lack of a better description. When Dong-hyun found out, naturally, he used his influence and Tae-hong became blacklisted in the country. And as the foreigners say, the rest is history."

Min-soo had figured the situation would be something like that having heard mention of Kang Dong-hyun. Now, he, was the epitome of a prodigal, loose with money, loose with power and most importantly loose with his pants.

In fact, it was a wonder that something like the crash that brought Min-soo over and put his sister into a coma among the other more tragic events, had not occurred earlier. But then again, who was to say something like it had not happened prior.

The world worked in mysterious ways and none more so when one's father was the President.

However, fortunately this time, the tragedy was simply far too big to contain and so not only had it ruined the future of Dong-hyun, it had also destroyed the ambitions of his own father.

Karma was truly a b*tch.

Min-soo felt that Park Tae-hong was a kindred spirit, both unfortunate enough to experience the calamity that was Kang Dong-hyun. So, he quickly made a decision.

"Let's go with Park Tae-hong. Arrange for a meeting as soon as possible."

"Very well. I will have Jang-mi work with Hyun-woo to get this done." Uncle Sun replied with a smile.

As if right on time, upon mention of Jang-mi, the door opened once again and she came back in with a tray, atop it were two cups and a teapot. Min-soo raised his eyebrows in mirth, seemingly asking what had taken her so long. However, he knew that she had just been giving them their privacy.

"Ah, Jang-mi right on time. Here take this and arrange a meeting with Park Tae-hong as soon as possible, coordinate with Hyun-woo so that CEO Lee and I will be available."

Jang-mi nodded as she poured the tea into the cups and a rich aroma pervaded the air, Min-soo breathed in the fragrant scent and savoured the taste as he picked up the cup and took a sip.

Jang-mi then collected the file and bid them a good day, before leaving the room once again.
