The Morning After

Min-soo was not sure how or when he got home. But as soon as he got home, he collapsed onto his bed without even changing. He woke up with a slight hangover and tried to remember the events of the night before.

He smiled at the memory of the dance he shared with Ji-eun under the starlit sky. She had been a little shy at first, but she had definitely made the most of it. He could still smell faint wisps of her perfume lingering on his clothes, from when she had leaned in and whispered in his ear.

"Thank you for the guitar, Min-soo oppa."

Now he knew his gift was the right decision.

However, Min-soo was not sure of what he wanted and how he should proceed. Everything seemed to be lined up to push him down a romantic relationship with Ji-eun.

Min-soo shook his head of these thoughts, he barely knew her, and she barely knew him. He decided to keep it simple. If she wanted to be friends, then that would be it. He decided he would just let things play out and just focus on his company.

He had a mission to complete and plenty of people that now counted on him to succeed. He now had duties and responsibilities as payment for his life of privilege. Min-soo would not complain though, because he thoroughly enjoyed this new life.

Getting up, Min-soo took a shower and sobered up. Heading down to the kitchen he was immediately greeted by the grinning face of Kwang-sik.

"Big night, aye?" he asked with a cheeky tone, for a second, Min-soo felt the need to give him a punch to the face. But he controlled himself and demanded with an annoyed tone, "Cook me something."

"Fine. Fine. I won't ask. Give me five minutes, Boss." Kwang-sik returned to the kitchen with a smile.

Before Min-soo could finish an interesting article on the latest poll on the upcoming election,

Kwang-sik returned with a plate of food. Bacon strips, a sunny-side up egg and a sausage, it was a rather plain breakfast, but Min-soo liked it regardless.

"Here you go, my Prince." Kwang-sik slid the plate over with a grin.

Min-soo ignored him and dug right in, he was feeling quite famished. Kwang-sik however, continued to hover around, much to Min-soo's annoyance. Fortunately, this did not affect his appetite and so he finished the food very quickly.

Sliding the plate back over, Kwang-sik took it back to the kitchen with a disappointed expression, his curiosity unsated. Min-soo took this opportunity to head back upstairs and change into something more appropriate for work.

Since he had given Hyun-woo the week off, Min-soo had to drive himself to work. It was his first time driving after waking up from the coma, but he quickly found his bearings and thoroughly enjoyed cruising down the motorway in his Mercedes Benz.

As he slowed down to pull into the company compound, he realised that the boom gate was down, and the security guard booth was manned. The man who looked to be in his mid-thirties stepped out in his freshly minted security uniform and approached Min-soo's car.

Lowering his window, Min-soo looked out and the security guard immediately recognised his face, straightening his back he shouted. "Sir. Good morning CEO Lee. Please, come in." After which he hurried back to his booth to raise the gate.

Min-soo inched the car forward and beckoned for the security guard to come over, the guard became more nervous and slowly approached. Min-soo put on a reassuring smile and asked, "Since you know who I am, it is only fair for me to know yours, no?"

"Yes sir, my name is Jung Jae-hyuk, I have known Chief Park for almost a decade. I'm really grateful for the opportunity. Thank you, CEO Lee. I will do my best while you still want me." Jae-hyuk declared confidently.

Min-soo grinned and nodded in acknowledgement of his enthusiasm, "Very well. Taehong has a good eye and so I trust him. Keep up the good work, Jae-hyuk."

"Thank you, sir. Have a good day." Jae-hyuk said as Min-soo drove over to the carpark.

Min-soo parked the car in his designated car spot and frowned a little as he saw Hyun-woo's car spot was also occupied. It seemed he had yet to take up his offer. He walked in through the front entrance which was now guarded by two security guards, both of whom nodded in acknowledgment of his presence. One even greeted him, to which Min-soo responded in kind.

As he walked by the receptionist desk, he noticed Jae-eun was engaged on the phone, but she still gave him a smile and wave, which he returned with a polite nod.

He smiled seeing and feeling the buzz in the air, it was a massive difference compared to the empty building it had been when he first bought it. Once again, it only reinforced his sense of accomplishment and made him more eager to finally debut a world-famous idol group.

Min-soo exited the lift and was greeted by none other than Hyun-woo.

"Young Master, my apologies for not driving you in today." He began.

"No. No. Hyun-woo, didn't I tell you to take the week off and spend it with your sister?" Min-soo reprimanded.

"Uh, my apologies. I was just finishing off some work and handing over a few tasks to Jang-mi." Hyun-woo replied nonplussed.

Min-soo suddenly felt a little bad for jumping to conclusions, "Sorry, my bad, I jumped to conclusions too quickly."

"Oh, on the matter you asked of me last night, this Kim Tae-hyung is a rather interesting person. From a friend of his, it seems his dream is to become a singer. In fact, he has been learning and playing the saxophone for quite a few years now. As for why he was working as a waiter last night, it appears it is nothing more than a side job to fund his passion."

"So, did you find him and give him an invitation, last night?" Min-soo asked a little expectantly.

"Yes, I did. But he seemed rather hesitant. On a balance of probabilities, I believe he will show up in the next day or two. He seems like a curious fellow." Hyun-woo predicted confidently.

"Right, right, thank you Hyun-woo. Well, go on now, take your week off. I will be fine. Go, spend time with your family." Min-soo shooed Hyun-woo into the lift, before he headed over to his office.

Min-soo sat down and saw there was a new folder on his desk, he opened it to see that it was Hyun-woo's findings on Kim Tae-hyung. It was only 3 pages long, but it was surprisingly, rather detailed for about half a days' work.

It had details on his schools and some local newspaper snippets on him winning a prize for his saxophone skills. It even had his address, it appeared he had moved to Seoul to further his musical skills, as it noted that he was living together with some high school friends of his.

However, what caught Min-soo's eye was the name of the high school friend Tae-hyung was living with. Park Jimin. If that was not the Park Jimin he was thinking of then surely the world was playing quite a sly trick on him.

Min-soo became even more excited to meet Tae-hyung, sign him on and get him to drag Jimin in as well. Thinking about it, this venture of his was starting to sound a little like a ponzi scheme.
