"It's been tradition Gusion, blades and swords are not used by this household!" An elderly man sighed, "Why can't you understand this?"
"Because I wasn't made to use just magic!" The man, Gusion argued.
Gusion, fourth son of the Paxley household. Soon to be the one who proves himself worthy of the name Paxley.
Well, he wasn't just some normal Paxley child. He was... special.
For generations, their family has used magic. The family hadn't encourage or even use blades and swords. And Gusion was the first one to break tradition.
And of course, years of tradition being thrown to waste wouldn't be exactly pleasing to the elders now would it?
It caused conflict between the youngest and the elders.
However, Gusion is stubborn. No matter how you put it, he wouldn't budge. So here they are, the elders shouting at Gusion and him arguing that he wasn't born to use "just magic".
"What do you not understand that we will not condone such behaviour?!" The eldest, Jonel retorted. He was infuriated. 'How much of a nuisance could this child be to the family?'
The youngest of the elders spoke, his booming voice ringing in Gusion's ears, "Gusion, you have to drop this... this nuisance of a fighting skill you're doing."
Being told to drop the thing you love is one thing but being told that what you're doing is a nuisance is another. And at the elder's words Gusion snapped.
"What if I told you that the Paxley family would've nearly lost another successor? And what if he rebelled and destroyed everything you've worked so hard to build." He turned around but before leaving he spoke, a dangerous aura surrounding him. "Just wait and I'll prove you wrong... and I just might be your worst nightmare."
The man was now in a complete bad mood, training often kept his emotions at bay. So he stood by a tree, got into a stance. And then--
'Ksshhk' The tree was cut in half, the top portion falling on the ground. The blades glowed a bright blue and immediately retracted back to the owner. Everything it hit fell to the ground.
"You've been practicing."
Gusion suprised at the voice, went into a fighting stance. Ready to throw his blades, until the realization came that it was just his brother. The eldest, Kamer.
Calming down he spoke, "Oh, it's just you."
"Of course, it's me." He came closer, noting the frustrated look on his brother's face. "What happened between you and the elders?"
When his brother didn't speak, he asked again. "It went wrong didn't it?"
A harsh tone intact Gusion shot back, "Why would you care?"
"Uh, because I'm your closest and dearest brother?" Kamer smiled, flinging his arm on Gusion's shoulder. Ruffling the poor boy's hair.
Lifting his brother's arm of his shoulder, he spoke, "It went real bad."
"How so?" Kamer asked persistent to know what happened, since he was in fact the nosy brother out of the four.
"They found out I used these" He spoke as he pointed towards his blade and sword, "Then I tried to reason with them and of course it didn't go well. Who would've thought right?" Gusion laughed sarcastically.
"You know, you're sooo... pessimistic, cynical and sarcastic haha." Kamer joked, but it was true though. "Maybe you need a lover?" He laughed, flashing his brother a wide grin.
"Lover? Who has time for that? I can't even get them to approve my fighting style, how the hell would I get them to approve of a lover that's not their choosing?"
"That's true." Kamer agreed.
The two brother's were the closet out of all the Paxley brothers. They may not agree with much often but they had a certain fondness for each other. They often were the ones who talked amongst themselves too."
"But you do know you need to lighten up a bit too." Gusion's brother suggested.
"No, I do not."
"Yes, yes you do." Kamer shot back.
The two then continued to bickered, speaking of things which Gusion needed to lighten up on. And him disagreeing, saying he was already okay.
However their quarreling was supposed to continue until it was interrupted by the Paxley manor's ringing bell. It signaled that all members of the said household needed to come back. It was probably for dinner, but at least it stopped the duo's bickering.
The two then proceeded to walk home but of course, between the two it wouldn't be so normal. They-- of course --decided to have a race, with both of them using their magic.
And of course, this led to disaster.
As soon as they arrived at the gates of the Paxley manor, the two were already bruised and bloody.
"You lost." Gusion smirked.
"No, you cheated!" Kamer said sourly.
"Boys! Where have you been!?" The mother, Mrs. Paxley looked them up and down and shouted, "What on Earth did you children do?!"
Both of them were completely silent until Kamer laughed, "It was his idea."
"Gusion, I wouldn't have expected you to start such things!" Mrs. Paxley said rather surprised.
"No mother, I did no such thing." Gusion explained, glaring daggers at his brother. If eyes could kill Kamer would've been dead.
Ignoring his statement, Mrs. Paxley pulled both children inside. "Hush now, let us eat."
Rolling his eyes, Gusion sighed. He was ignored yet again. It was starting to get annoying for him.
As soon as they rushed in, Gusion went up and changed and started getting ready for dinner. But before he did, he laid on his bed, waiting for his mother to call him.
He thought about two things; one: what he had said to the elders. He would be dead if his mother and father found out he talked like that to the elders. At the thought, they still didn't accept his fighting style.
And two: what his brother had said.
Though out of the two, it seems his brother's suggestion had been more bothersome.
"A lover huh?" He sighed.
