Chapter 1: Dawn Breaks

I woke up late the day everything I knew came to an end. I have been studying all night for the midterms. I arrived at school during the third subject. Luckily, I have special privileges for being the school's student council president. I headed straight to the Senior's classroom on the third floor. I didn't realize how tired I was from studying until I sat down on my seat. I Woke up at the sound of the school bell signifying it's lunch break, with everyone in my class already gone.

I headed down the hallway to the cafeteria, still half awake. I found a couple eating together in one of the classrooms.

"Public display of affection will not be tolerated in this school!", I accidentally shouted. The terrified couple freaked out and sprinted out the classroom.

"And no running in the hallway!!"

"Seriously people should focus more on their academics, now my appetite is ruined", I thought to myself.

I decided to skip lunch and headed straight to the student council room. I found our vice president, Al Dea playing a game on his phone.

"Oy Clark, the astronomy club has sent a request to increase their club funds, would you mind checking it out later after class?", says Aldea while still staring at his phone.

"Aldea! I know the principal allowed the use of mobile phones as a tool for knowledge but you're abusing it!"

Aldea was startled. "Chill, I'm just pre registering to this game that will be released tomorrow. It's supposedly the most awaited game of the year. Care to check it out? Of course you won't.*chuckles* Anyway, the president of the astronomy club wishes to meet you personally so he's coming here after classes", he said while still staring at his phone.

"Did you not hear what I just said?". Only then did Aldea put down his phone. "The astronomy club if i remember, has only four members, why would they need an increase in funds?"

Aldea just shrugs. The bell rang and I headed back to the senior's classroom. A game will be released tomorrow, huh? I guess it won't hurt to try. I'll just preregister and play the game after mid terms.

The afternoon went by in a flash. I headed back to the student council room where the president of the astronomy club was waiting. The meeting went on for 30 minutes. I glanced out the window from the third floor hallway. Aldea was by the school gate standing under a street lamp with someone I don't recognize.

I started heading down the staircase when I heard a scream of a girl from one of the Junior's room. I was curious so I slowly opened the door and peeked.

With an annoyed tone the girl loudly complained, " Why is this school's Wi-Fi so slow! Isn't this supposed to be the best school in the country? I can't even preregister to a game!"

"She's kind of cute," I thought to myself. But she's being too loud and she shouldn't be at school this late. I decided to send her home. I opened the door and it let out this loud bang that startled her.

"Who's there!" she shrieked.

"Why are you still at school this late? go home!"

"Huh? What do you care? I'm here to maximize the use of the school's free Wi-Fi, I'm preregistering to a game. Also, you're one to talk! Why are you here this late? Are you stalking me? pervert!"

This girl!! Not only has she insulted me, but dares to violate school rules and still be proud of it. "Im the student council president, Cl Lark. What's your name?", I was pissed off.

"Huh? president? you are? I mean, good evening sir. I'm Kate Claver, a junior. I was just staying here late because I was....ummmm... studying! that's right I was studying online! teeheee"

I was eager to meet up with Aldea downstairs and was about to let her off the hook. But suddenly the school bell started ringing continuesly. We both stood surprised listening to the bell. After a minute or so it stopped.

On a synchronized manner, both my phone and hers beeped.

"Pre registration complete."

"What's with the bell? Is there a fire somewhere in the school?" she panicked.

"Relax, thats the school bell not the fire alarm. Maybe the school janitor is doing a maintenance," I explained.

It was at that moment I noticed something strange. I looked out the classroom window then to the hallway window and panicked.

"Hey, this is the west side of the building right?" I asked her. I was shaking. My mind can't comprehend what is happening.

"Huh, what's with that question all of a sudden? of course this is the west side. look! The sun should be setting by now" she said pointing to the window.

"Oy oy Oy!" she shrieked.

The sky has changed while we were too focused on the school bell. A beam of light lit the hallway. We couldn't help but check our phones.

"It's definitely 5:30 in the afternoon," She said with a shaking voice as we both moved to a corner in the room with our backs against the wall.

"Then why is the sky that of dawn?"
