Chapter 6: The Feast

The Hall was overcrowded with elves but was unusually silent. A long table span across the room, from the altar to the great hall entrance. Two shorter tables are set on both sides. Every seat was taken save for four gigantic ones just in front of the altar.

"The King of the moon elves!," shouted the guard and everyone stood up. Only our footsteps can be heard across the room.

The guard lead us to the empty seats. King Estes and Miya took the ones at the center. I sat on King Estes' side and Kate takes the one near Miya. The king waves his hand signaling everyone to take their seats. Every movement was in unison that I feel like I was in a military camp. I glanced at Kate and she looks amazed as I am.

"This day will go down in history as the day The Land of Dawn regains its hope! The moon goddess was successful in creating a portal to another dimension. Through the portal, I was able to seek help from otherworldly beings. Beings who are not only superior to us, but have unwavering sense of justice," King Estes begins his speech that took minutes.

I heard Kate's muffled laugh. I looked at her and she was staring at the crowd. I looked at the direction of her sight and let out a laugh myself.

On one of the smaller tables, I saw a floating slice of meat. Nobody else noticed as everyone was focused on the king's speech. I was sure of it. That's Natalia trying to steal food from the feast. She even carried a Silver Plate around.

I couldn't stop myself from laughing. One by one Food started to vanish and I was laughing all the way. After a short while I couldn't trace where she is. I looked at Kate and she's trying to look for her too.

Suddenly, I hear a familiar voice whispering to my ear that made me jump a little, "The moon goddess and I are hungry. Don't tell anyone."

I guess even gods get hungry, i thought to myself. I wonder if they get fat like normal people would.

"Where did you hide the food?" Kate whispers loudly.

"It's under my cloak," Natalia replied imitating Kate's loud whispering.

Miya and Estes haven't noticed Natalia's presence. She tapped my shoulder, and a few moments later, I can't tell where she is.

" The Saviors of the Land of Dawn! Cl Lark and Kate Claver!" Everyone started clapping, still in unison. The king gestured us to stand up so we did. The feast started and only then, did the crowd made noise like that of an actual crowd. Musicians at one corner of the hall, started playing their instruments to a lively beat.

"Why did the moon goddess suddenly vanished when the guard came?" I asked the king some time into the feast.

"She doesn't trust all the elves. You see, long ago, an elf started a revolution against the moon goddess. The Elven race was divided into factions. One of which are the moon elves, us. Believe it or not, some factions even sided with the Dark Abyss." he explained.

The feast went on for a couple of hours. I can't remember who is who, as King Estes introduced countless elves. Some of noble bloodline, other's of military rank.

I excused myself from the Feast and headed towards the balcony. Its still Dawn, the sky never changed ever since I came here. Thoughts of what happened today ran across my head. I slowly began to accept the reality although the thought of all this being a hallucination still dominates.

I checked out my stat page once again. The idea of leveling is still new to me. I only understood the concept of gaining experience through combat .

I feel a sudden surge of relief as a familiar sound reaches my ears.

*beep beep*

I instinctively reached out to my pockets. Amidst my confusion, I haven't noticed at all that I brought my phone along with me.

"New message received"

I was surprised, why do i have reception in this world? I ignored that thought and clicked the message.

"From: Aldea

Good luck on your Journeys. We'll eventually meet someday. Hopefully as allies. I'm with the Student Council secretary, Laciel. My phone is about to shut down so I can't tell you the details. Bye for now. "
