Chapter Three
My eyes widen to the sight of the guy in front of me. Not just any guy...Jeon Jungkook. No he's not the most popular boy in school...well kinda of. A lot of girls try to flirt or date him, but he turns them all down for some reason. He's known to be good at sports, yet kinda quiet too. Every girl has or had a crush on him. Including me.
"Oh...I'm sorry. I thought I had time to get something," he says sounding a little disappointed. He turns to leave while I look down trying think of something. Then it hits me.
For all the trouble, take some desserts for you and your mother.
I hurry to the back where the finished desserts laid still. I find some chocolate chip cookies that were freshly made from today. I quickly grab some, put it in the bag and ran out of the store. I look down the street to see Jungkook walking away from the bakery. I catch up to him and tap him on his shoulder.
"I...found...some cookies for...you....if you...want them," I pant as I stick my hand out with the bag of cookies. He chuckles and grabs the bag from me.
"Thanks. Umm...I don't have any money, but I have this," he says while grabbing something out of a grocery bag that I didn't notice he had until now. He holds up what appears to be some sort of drink.
"Thanks! Umm...what is it?" I ask while examining the cute little bottle.
"It's banana milk. That's all I have to repay you," he says while looking apologetic.
"I-it's okay. On the h-house," I stutter. At that moment I just realized I'm talking to the Jeon Jungkook who all the girls want in the school. I start to become nervous...VERG nervous.
"Thank you so much," he smiles while looking at the bag of cookies.
"Y-y-yeah. No p-p-problem," I smile back. He turns away and I head back to the shop. I make my way back to the kitchen and sigh.
"I just made a fool of myself," I grumble to myself. I pack up my stuff and lock up the store.
As I'm walking down the street, I just think about how I was such a fool in front of him.
"I'm such an ass," I sigh to myself. Suddenly, I hear fast footsteps coming from behind me. I turn around, preparing for the worst. I turn slowly to see Jungkook standing in front of me while not out of breath...lucky.
"O-oh...J-jungkook. Hi," I say timidly. He smiles at me.
"I notice the bag you gave me had this in it. I'm assuming it's yours," he says while handing me my phone. I got that phone from Minseok for my birthday. Yeah he's sorta my rich friend you could say.
"Oh...thanks."
"Yeah no problem. Well, I'll see you around! Bye," he says while waving to me while walking away. I wave back and look down at the phone and smile.
If he gave me my phone back, he must care about me, right? No, don't be an idiot, (y/n).
I continue walking back home, a little more giddy than usual.
The next day, I go in and check my mother.
"Hi, sweetie. How are yo- *cough*," she hacks.
"Oh, mom. Are you okay?"
"Yes. I just need to re- *cough* *hack*."
"I think you need more than rest. You need to go to the hospital...but how?" I sigh. She places her hand over mine.
"Honey, I don't need the hospital. I'm fine. Please don't worry. Trust me," she smiles. I nod to her. She clearly isn't fine, but how could I afford her to go to the hospital? I take my mother's word and help her take her medicine for the day.
"Have a good day, sweetie," she smiles. She closes her eyes and leans back in bed. I get up quietly and leave her room.
I wait anxiously outside of school for Minseok. As soon as I see him, I take him to a somewhat secluded place.
"Wow...what's with you dragging me here?" He asks. I explain the whole Jungkook thing with him.
"And how is this a big deal?" He questions. I smack his shoulder.
"OW! WHAT THE HELL?" He yells. I glare at him.
"Do you realize the humiliation and embarrassment I went through last night?! He's probably telling his friends all about it!" I snap at him.
"Calm down, (y/n)! Jungkook seems like a guy who wouldn't do that. You're going to be fine," he assures me. I turn towards him slowly.
"Just because he SEEMS like that doesn't me he is, dumbass," I whine.
"Okay, class is going to start soon. He probably forgot what happened last night. What could go wrong today?" He says. I shrug and we both head to class.
At the end of the day, I head to the library to wait for Minseok. While I wait, I put my earbuds in and listen to some music. Since I'm so immerse into the music, I don't notice that I'm humming. A tall figure comes into my view, looming over me. I take one earbud out and look up.
"Nice humming" he chuckles. I jump up in surprise.
"O-o-oh...J-Jungkook.....hi," I nervously say.
Goddamn it, Minseok! Where the hell are you!
"Is this seat taken?" He asks. I shake my head and he sits down next to me. Silence. Just the quiet sound of music from our earbuds fill the empty space in the library.
"Ummm.....t-thanks for r-r-returning my phone to m-me last night. I-I-I really appreciate i-it," I stutter.
Real smooth, (y/n).
"It was no problem at all," he smiles.
"So what are you doing in the library," He asks. Before I can speak, Minseok comes in.
"Hey, sorry I'm late. I had to finish something for my last class," he explains. He looks over to the seat next to me which reveals Jungkook who's enjoying his music.
"Oh, Jungkook, right?" He asks.
"Yeah," Jungkook responds. I look over at Minseok's face. I see the anger boiling inside of him.
"Oh! Would you look at the time! I have to get going you two! I-I'll see you guys later!" I say with a fake smile as I exit the library.
Man, that couldn't have been more awkward!
As I'm making my way out of the school, someone grasps me by my jacket and pins me to a wall.
"Poor girl! Stop struggling!" A girly voice says to me. Oh no...it's Seoyeon.
"Quit squirming! I have to talk to you about something...important," she growls at me.
"What do you possibly want? Remember, I'm the poor girl here. I don't have anything you want from me," I sigh. She chuckles along with her three other minions from behind.
"I know you don't have anything...well there's one thing I want," she smirks.
"What is it?" I question her suspiciously.
"Keep your disgusting, trashy, and vile hands off of MY Jungkook!" She shouts at me. My eyes go wide. That's the "important" news she had to tell me.
"What a joke," I mumble to myself. Before she fully walks away, her head turns to me and she uses her strength to pin me up against the wall...again.
"What was that, bitch?" She snarls at me. I gulp. Man, she's a strong ass hoe!
"Nothing," I sigh in defeat. She smirks and pushes me into the slushy snow.
"Have fun playing in the snow. And remember...DO NOT GO NEAR JUNGKOOK EVER AGAIN," she repeats herself as she kneels to me on the ground. Her and the minions walk away while laughing their fake asses off. I sigh and get up.
"Great. Now I'm all soaking wet!" I yell as I pick up my stuff. As I'm trying to dry my clothes off, coming out the door is Minseok and Jungkook talking about something that seems serious.
"Oh shit!" I whisper as I hide behind the other side of the brick wall that surrounds the front of the school. I listen over at their conversation from a distance.
"Don't you dare go near (y/n) again," Minseok demands.
"Why? Shouldn't it be up to her to make that decision. Not YOU?" Jungkook explains in such a calm way that it's a little scary. Minseok glares menacingly at Jungkook.
"Doesn't matter. I get a bad vibe from you. I suggest you do as I say and we won't have any more issues from this day on," Minseok replies with a triumphant smirk on his face. Jungkook sighs.
"I wouldn't celebrate too soon, Minseok. Do you even realize how insane you sound right now?" Jungkook asks. Minseok clenches his hands into a fist.
"What do you mean?" Minseok bellows.
"I mean, if you are (y/n)'s boyfriend, I would at least take her feelings into account if I were you. Not some psychopath that controls his girlfriend whenever he wants to."
"WHAT?!"I scream. Being the foolish person I am, I also begin to choke from what Jungkook said. They turn to where I am and I hide back behind the wall.
"What the hell was that?" Minseok shouts. Jungkook shrugs and they luckily go back to their coversation. I sigh with relief.
Minseok as my boyfriend?! What did he say to Jungkook when I left? I thought they just parted ways when I did.
"Well...I do. I'm just trying to look out for her. So I would be happy if you left her alone," Minseok lies. I glare from the wall.
"He is SO dead once I see him again," I whisper. Jungkook sighs in defeat and leaves school grounds. I see Minseok smirking as Jungkook leaves. I automatically follow Jungkook. Then I stop dead in my tracks. I check my phone.
Shit! My shift is gonna start soon! If I don't catch up to Jungkook now, though, I won't be able to find him, BUT I can't miss work.
I look nervously at my phone and back at Jungkook's back.
"Fuck it!"
I race down the street and luckily find Jungkook walking to the park I went to the other day. He finds a bench and sits down with a sigh.
"I'm such and idiot! I knew he was dating her," he complains to himself. As I watch from a distance, I feel that same presence again. I'm too busy and worried about the whole Jungkook situation that I don't pay attention to it.
Wait...he was gonna ask me out?!
I take a deep breath and walk towards him. At this moment, I don't care if Seoyeon wants me to back off from Jungkook. I don't care if Minseok tried to force Jungkook to stay away from me. In this moment, it's time to be courageous. I walk to the bench he's sitting at. He looks up, surprised that I am here.
"Oh...(y/n)," he says while looking down.
"Is.....this seat taken?" I ask. He shakes his head and I sit down next to him. Funny. It's like when we were at the library today.
"So....."
"So....."
Wow. Awkward much?
"So how's Minseok?" He asks me. I gulp.
"Well...I think there's something you should know. Minseok and I-" I begin to speak. Suddenly, Minseok comes running out of nowhere.
"Oh! Sorry, (y/n) I,uhh, have to go now."
Jungkook gets up abruptly and leaves the park quickly without another word. Minseok catches his breath and sits down next to me.
"Glad he's gone, right (y/n)?" He says while beginning to place his arm around me. I smack his arm away from me. I get up and glare at him.
"WHAT THE HELL MINSEOK?!" I scream at him. He gets up as well with a shocked face.
"What do you mean, (y/n)?" He asks with confusion in his voice.
"I heard your little conversation with Jungkook outside the school today. What the fuck was the thing about you being my boyfriend?!" I boom. He gulps with guilt written all over his face.
"I-"
"And I swear to god if you lie to me, our friendship is over," I threaten him. He sighs.
"I'm sorry, okay?! It's just...I don't get a good vibe off of Jungkook. He seems...sketchy," he says nervously.
"Bullshit! You know what?! Talk to me again when you have at least a better excuse for your actions here today OR better yet, the actual goddamn truth," I bark. I storm off out of the park, leaving Minseok behind in my dust.
I don't even bother showing up for at the bakery. My head is in too much of a tail spin. I head into the apartment and go to my mom's room. I peak through the door.
"Still asleep," I sigh. I shut the door quietly and head to my room. I flop on my bed and put on head down on my pillow.
"Why do bad things always happen to me?" I cry into my pillow. I lift my head up and put it to the side. I soon become drowsy and doze off into a much needed sleep from the craziness today.
Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed this part of the story. I have so many ideas in mind so be ready! Anyways, hope you enjoyed! Bye!
