Chapter Five-The...Date?

Chapter Five

By the time I leave my apartment, it had already gotten colder and darker real quick. Snow lightly falls around me as I make my way back to the park. Even though the street lights guide the darkness away, it still feels very eerie. I finally arrive at the, now, quiet park. I enter  and see Jungkook sitting on the same bench from earlier. He turns around and gets up from the bench to greet me.

"Hi, (y/n)! Glad you could make it," he smiles while his breath flies into the air.

"Hi! I'm glad you invited me," I smile back.

"So what are we going to do tonight?" I ask him. He begins to think for a moment when it hits him.

"Well...we could go to a cafe nearby. It's really nice and cozy in there. And they have the BEST hot chocolate."

We both giggle and walk side by side to the cafe.

We walk down the somewhat busy streets of Seoul. Traffic flows down the icy roads while the side walks are almost empty. We reach the cafe which is not too far from the park. We enter the cafe and are greeted by the cute decor of the little joint. The cafe is decorated just like a cabin. As you enter, there is a stone fireplace to the right of the entrance with wooden tables and chairs near it. There's an upstairs loft with more seats and a small fireplace up there as well. Behind the downstairs fireplace is the counter where you can order your food. Big windows cover the walls to give it a more open feel. Fairy lights are strung up across the wooden pillars that are across the ceiling. The heat of the cafe embraces our bodies as we go in the place. We go up and both order hot chocolate and sit down right next to the fireplace. Luckily, there isn't a lot of people in the place.

"Wow...this place is so amazing! How come I never heard of it before?," I question.

"Yeah, this place isn't that well known because this part of the city isn't that busy, but I like it this way. It's really calming from the craziness of the city," he explains.

The way he explains this place seems like he comes here a lot. I wouldn't blame him though because this is my kind of cafe.

"I understand. I like this place too. I might become a regular now," I giggle. He grins while looking down. A waiter brings our hot chocolate and places on our table. They leave and we are left alone again. I take a sip of my hot chocolate which is a mistake on my part because it's still really hot.

"Aahhhh! Hot! It's hot!" I shout. Jungkook looks over to me and laughs at me. I cover my mouth and glare at him.

"Oh thanks, Jungkook! You really helped me out," I say sarcastically. We both laugh together while we finish up our hot chocolate. We pay and leave the cafe. We walk around the city and chat. As we are walking, Jungkook stops.

"(Y/n), I'll be right back. I have to use the restroom," he says. I nod and wait for him in the freezing cold.

I would go into a building, but I have never been this far into the city before. To be honest, I have no idea where I am. I really don't go out a lot to explore the city because I need to take care of my mom. As I wait, I feel a presence lurking around me. I decide to ignore it, since I know Jungkook was gonna be out in a minute. Fortunately, Jungkook comes out before anything could happen.

"Hey! Ready to go?" He asks.

I nod while looking down. He squints his eyes in suspicion. He peaks at me to see panic covered all over my face. He sighs and pins me against the building wall.

"(Y/n), tell me the truth," he whispers. In shock, I only nod to him.

"Is something bothering you?" He asks with concern. I explain that I felt a presence near me while he was in the bathroom. He nods.

"I knew it. I'm sorry for doing this to you," he explains.

Before I could ask him anything, he presses his warm lips against mine. I went blank while my cheeks burn a bright red. It happened so fast that I couldn't even react to him kissing me. He finally lets me go after a good couple of seconds. We just stand there without a word.

"Umm.....sorry," he says shyly. I just stare at him.

     "W-w-why?" I stutter.

"So that creep would leave us alone. Especially you," he explains.

I don't know if I should be thankful, embarrass, or in complete shock from what just happened. I nod and we continue our walk back to the park. It's super awkward between us. After walking in complete silence, we finally come back to the park.

"Are you sure you don't want me walking you back to your house?" He asks while looking down.

"Y-yeah...it's fine," I say. He nods. We say goodbye and I leave the park.

The truth is that I don't want Jungkook to see the loving conditions I'm in. Not to mention my mother's state of health right now. I'm still in complete shock from the kiss. I touch my lips as I remember the sensation from his lips. My cheeks are completely red from embarrassment. I shake the kiss off my mind and enter the apartment.

"Welcome back, (y/n). How was your date," Jiyoo asks as she gets up from the couch.

"It was not a date, Jiyoo! But it was good. And thank you so much, Jiyoo! I really owe you big time. Anyways, how's my mom?" I ask. Jiyoo's smile turns into a frown as she looks to the floor.

"What's wrong?" I ask nervously.

"Umm...your mother hasn't woken up in awhile, so I couldn't give her medicine to her. She does not look good, sweetie," Jiyoo says with a sad tone.

I sigh. I nod and wave Jiyoo goodbye. I slowly walk to my mom's room. I prepare myself for the worse and open the door. I peak in and see my mom. My heart practically stopped.

"Mom?"

No answer. Just the quiet sounds of her snores fill the cold room. She looks like a skeleton. I decide to leave her be and go to my room. I flop on my bed and look at my phone. I get a text from Jungkook.

"Hey, (y/n)! Did you make it home okay?"

"Yeah. I'm okay."

I lied to him. I'm not okay. My mom is suffering. She's just hiding her true feelings away from me for my sake. But I can't tell Jungkook this. It's for his own good.

"That's good! Text me if you need anything."

     "Okay. Thanks, Jungkook.....for everything."

     "No problem!:)"

     "Well...goodnight, Jungkook!"

     "Goodnight, (y/n)."

I click my phone off and stare up at my ceiling in the dark. I look at my clock.

     "Only eleven," I sigh.

I have a feeling I won't get sleep tonight. Everything that happened today was crazy. The only time I actually felt okay was with...Jungkook. Then I remember what Jiyoo said earlier.

Was it a date? Ugh! I don't even know anymore!

Surprisingly, my thoughts slowly drift me off to a much needed deep sleep.

Hey guys! Sorry for not posting for awhile. School got busy real quick even though it was my first few days back. I'm hoping to update more, but school might be in the way. Also, sorry for this chapter being a little shorter than the other parts. Anyways, hoped you enjoyed! Bye!
