"Are they really that dangerous?", she asked.
"From our elders' stories, they are", I replied.
"That human just now, he doesn't look like dangerous after all, he was just standing there", she thought out loud. "Yeah, I thought so too, but we got to be more careful. I don't want you getting hurt or something... and I don't want to be hurt too... you know", I said hesitantly. Nana didn't mind my hesitation at all.
We are heading home in the center of the Enchanted Forest. We are always together, Nana and I. We were childhood friends, best friends. I'm sure going to miss her when I leave to go with Captain Tigreal and fight in the war. I haven't told her that yet. I don't know how, I can't stand to look at her when she's sad. She means a lot to me. I can't imagine me without her, this stubborn girl. I've trained so hard so I could protect her, and our tribe. She always dreamed of a day where there's no more war, and all people, elves, magicians, centaurs and everybody else live together in harmony. Sounds so optimistic, but that's her, she's so bright, she's the light that I cherish a lot. I don't know if she feels the same, I don't care if she doesn't. All I know is I feel tingles in my tummy when she smiles at me, the world seems to stop awhile when we touch, I feel complete just knowing she's near and happy.
My thoughts were interrupted when we were approaching our village, fainted screams and cries were heard. I wish I was dreaming, but no, the cries drew louder as we run into our village. Our village are being invaded by the army of the abyss, and I saw their leader Alice commanding them. They set fire in our houses. I secured Nana in the nearby bush, instructing her to stay unseen.
"I can help, I can do magic too!", she protested. I looked at her straight in the eye and said, "Your magic is so faulty, you can't even control it properly, you will not help". I have to tell her that, I'm so sorry Nana, I'd rather hurt your feeling than letting go with me and be hurt by them. An expression of anger, fear and sorrow were all in her face when I left her.
I dashed away from her to save as many as I can. I saved the kids and the ladies first and then elders, men from our tribe tries to fight back. The tribe guards are doing their best to use magic to defend our village. But still, it's not enough. The guards and I are running out of magic energy or mana. The tribe elders commanded us to abandon our village, and so we did. But as we leave, I saw Nana. Not in the bush where i left her. I saw her throw a blow of her boomerang to one of the orcs, she missed, but hit Alice by accident. Alice was coming for her, before I can even realize it, I was already on my way to save her. I used my remaining mana to time freeze for a second and stop Alice on attacking Nana. I grabbed her swiftly and dashed out before Alice could move. I tried to lock her away but she's too strong and broke free from my spell in an instant. I know I could do nothing so I carried Nana and ran away from her.
Nana fainted, I don't know where the others were headed, I haven't seen which way they took. I don't know where to go, and so I decided to go to our favorite place. I'm so tired, I can't even think straight now. All I know is we're running away from or village. I wish I could make it to the border of the Enchanted Forest, to that place we always hang out. I can already see the ruins of the house, our secret place before I fainted too.
