Chapter 7: Nana

Her bloody eyes are looking at me like she's in a frenzy. She's coming for me, I can't hear anything but my heart beating out pf my chest. Everything started to blur, a white silhouette appeared in front of me then consciousness came to me, it was only a dream. I tried to open my eyes, but still it's blurry, I blinked twice to regain clarity in my sight. The first thing I saw was a fire and something cooking on it. I saw someone moved.

"Harith?", I tried to call but only uttered a whisper. "He already left", says a voice I couldn't recognize.

I was a little startled to hear an unfamiliar voice, I opened my eyes wide open to see... a... human?! I tried to quickly get up but my body felt so heavy.

"Take it easy,...", he said, "...don't be scared. I think it's better if you read this letter first". He handed me a parchment.

I cautiously took the parchment from him, and it was the first time I realize he was the man we saw right before we were invaded, the man with big round eyeglasses. I opened the parchment and a key fell from it. It was the key Harith keeps as a necklace. I so wish he was here right now, I miss him. I held the key so tight and held it closer to my heart. I returned to the letter with my other hand and started to read it.

My Dear Nana,

When you read this, I already on my way to help Tigreal, the leader of the Moniyans, I was invited to train with them. I will try my best to bring peace and order back, for all the Land of Dawn and for you. Dr. Baker found us unconscious the morning after our village was attacked. He took care of us. He's a nice guy, he's from the Enchanted Forest too so he knows about our tribe. We already talked for a bunch of things while you were still asleep. I told him to take care of you until you were reunited from the rest of the tribe. Please be nice and polite to Dr. Baker, follow his rules and maybe help him on rebuilding his house which happens to be our secret place. Don't be scared, I will surely miss you.

-Love Harith

P.S- I left my necklace with you, return that to me when we see each other again, I promise to find you. Keep safe.

I miss you more Harith! Please be safe. I wore the necklace and kept the letter in my small bag. I tried to stand but something hurts on the right side of my torso.

"Be careful, you have been wounded", said the guy. I lifted my clothes and saw bandages around my torso, I don't even remember where I got it.

"So you're Dr. Baker?", I asked.

"Indeed I am, and you young lady, is Nana, right?", he asked right back.

"Yes, I'm sorry if I was a little shocked earlier, it's just that we don't encounter humans that much", I apologized.

"It's okay, I don't blame you for that", he answered. "It would be best for you to eat and restore your energy, for better healing too", he said while giving me a bowl of what he was cooking. It seems to be a mushroom stew, my favorite! My stomach immediately growled of hunger.

I grabbed the bowl and started chowing down on it, and stopped to ask him, "How long was I out?". I asked him even with food inside my mouth.

"You were out 2days from the day I found you and Harith unconscious. Harith already woke up the same day and stayed for another day before leaving", he explained.

"Thank you for taking care of us", I said.

"It's nothing, I used to do the same thing too before I got here. We help anyone who were victim of the war", he told me.

I wanted to ask more but I grew sleepy right after eating.

"You should take rest more, your wound would be better tomorrow. You should go back to sleep", he said while taking my bowl. I couldn't even answer and just went back to the tent. Tomorrow promises something better, but for now I need to rest.
