Hoseok watched her in awe as a snore lightly escaped from her lips. She was lying on his bed, still dressed up in her bloody school uniform. He had somehow tried to clean up the blood on her skin and applied ointment on her visible scars.
The sun was about to rise and he had been taking care of her all night. He needed a cigarette. He needed some air.
He opened the window and climbed through it. He grabbed the ladder and slowly climbed up it, sitting on the edge of the roof.
The view from this spot had always fascinated him. It all seemed so peaceful and pretty from up there. Something it really wasn't.
He took out his box of cigarettes and placed one between his teeth as he searched through his pockets for a lighter. He sighed in relief when he found it. He quickly lit it and inhaled the smoke.
He had gotten so used to smoking by now, that it didn't really affect him anymore. He slowly exhaled the smoke as he looked up at the pink-yellow sky.
What was he supposed to do with Jae Hwa? He couldn't keep taking her to his place after every violent fight she got into, but he couldn't quite leave her alone either. He had to be careful.
He groaned as he ran his fingers through his hair, taking a drag of the cigarette. Hoseok looked down when he heard the front door of the apartment complex open up. It was unavoidable.
His eyes widened as he saw Jae Hwa step out of the building. She looked down at herself, shaking her head. Hoseok couldn't help, but think about what she was doing down there. She quickly wrapped her bruised arms around her waist, walking down the road.
How he wished he could run down there and wrap his jacket around her. He started coughing when he realized what he just had thought. He stomped the cigarette and placed it back inside the box. He shook his head. He had to get her off his mind.
