"Do you really have to go?" came an angelic voice which belonged to the maiden with golden hair. "You know it's for the greater good of the palace, besides I will be back" came a more manlier voice which belonged to a rather handsome looking male wearing golden armour while holding a helmet which had horns sharp enough to pierce a mortal's skin.
The sound of a large horn pierced through the peace as they saw crowds after crowds of people jumping off the edge of the palace into the seemingly endless clouds below. Faces that should have looks of fear were replaced with determination as they were set to accomplish their mission. They had bid their farewells to their loved ones as some already knew they weren't coming back here again. From afar, it would seem like drops of gold were falling onto the fluffy clouds but up close, you could see that it were bodies that were willingly letting themselves fall into the endless pit.
"It is time for me to go." said the male voice, a look of determination plastered on his face as he put on his helmet and sheathed his sword that look like a long sharp piece of thin gold than was curved at the left side, the place where it was suppose to slice. "I'll be waiting." replied the angelic female voice, a look of worry on her face. "I know, don't worry, I'll be back, I promised" he replied with a smile before letting himself fall down to the place where few would make it back alive, The Land Of Dawn. The female then turned around and returned to her place in the infirmary, waiting for the few soldiers and the male to return. He never did.
The female waited day and night but he never did return, she grabbed the amulet on her neck and placed it close to her heart, it was the last gift he gave her. It held the picture of the two smiling inside, the male had an arm on her shoulder and holding a peace sign with his index and middle finger, he was wearing a grey-green sweater that the female had bought in one of the stalls. The female was hugging the male behind his back with one and holding the camera with the other while leaning into his warmth, she was wearing a beautiful sundress that brought out her golden hair that was being blown behind her by a the strong breeze. The background was the Northern Mountains with an ice castle just inside the view of the left and the sun setting in the right. That was last time the went to the Land Of Dawn together, when it was still in peace.
Suddenly she felt cold and and the air around became eerie, as if there was an evil presence somewhere, for some reason she couldn't move a muscle and could only stare at the amulet as it slowly morphed into something green. The picture of the two slowly melted and dripped out of the amulet by black sludge like droplets, replaced by red surrounding the background and someone who was wearing a green helmet with horns staring right at her. Its hand reaching out to possibly grab her by the face. She tried to scream but she couldn't let out a sound, she felt trapped could only let the stream of tears flow down her face and silent fear creep into her bones. She closed her eyes and trembled ever so slightly with fear and awaited the claw that was only a few inches left from her face.
Rafaela woke up with a start. There were tears in her eyes, sweat all over her body and strands of bubblegum pink hair all over her face. "It was only a dream" she said to reassure herself. "Or was it?" came a voice in the back of her head. She shrugged it off and proceeded to wash her face to get rid of the sleep in her eyes and took a little shower to feel more refreshed. She looked at the clock that was the shape of golden angel wings on her desk and checked the time. "7:00am, still early". She went to the spare bed room in the house to check up on her patients.
She found a young female next to a middle aged man outside in the woods unconscious and seemingly bleeding last night. She brought the two back to her place and let them rest in the spare room she had. She had checked their pulse to make sure they were still alive after that long trip and placed them down on separate beds so she could check up on them separately. The girl had less injuries minus the large scratch across her left arm and went unconscious from exhaustion presumably from the large canon resting next to her bed side. The male however was bruised and had cuts all over him, some would say it was from the blades on his back but the wounds looked like claw marks from a beast.
Rafaela had wrapped bandages over their more heavy injuries while healing them using her own power. She would make sure to always cover the windows using blinds before casting healing magic. She held the staff that had marks from pass battles and passed it over from hand to hand. All those lives she had saved was because she had her staff with her. The staff was made of metal with rings starting to form at the top, the tip was the looks of a rotating pitch fork with static generating in the middle. It may not look like much but this staff was the sole reason of the thousands of lives saved in battle. She held the staff up high just as her ancestor had and chanted the spell that only she could use.
"Healing prayers for all" she whispered softly to no one just as the staff glowed blue along with the two lying bodies. She felt a little stamina depleted but she would only do it once every two hours or so. The two had looked to be in better shape after each healing session so she could feel her worry lessen. They were starting to rouse around signalling they were finally going to wake up. Rafaela quickly got out of the room to prepare some food as they would feel exhausted after what she thought they had been through. "Some bacon and eggs should help with some energy restoration, right?" to think of it, she never had much interaction with mortals so she couldn't understand their eating style but she knew what was needed for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Light footsteps were starting to make their way from the spare room to the kitchen. For some reason unbeknownst to her, she felt nervous and anxious. She tried to calm herself but to no avail. She was scared and excited, as the footsteps came closer and closer she felt a flood of emotions enter her and felt questions forming in her head. How would they react? Would they be afraid? Glad? Terrified? Would they challenge her to a fight? Would they realize that she was not human or a mortal? She didn't have enough time to process as she saw a blueish transparent nanoblade from the corner of the kitchen entrance.
