CHAPTER 2
They liked my dancing. I hadn't really ever gotten a compliment on it before. Only mean criticism.
Once again, I started the video from the beginning, aceing each step, I smiled as I continued. I was about halfway through when I heard Ae-Cha yell for me.
"Sujin! Come down here please!"
I groaned and assumed she had heard them talking to me and was going to punish me. Still, obediently, I walked out of my room and to the kitchen where I found her.
"I promise, they came into my room, I didn't intentionally talk to them," I told her once she was in earshot.
"What?" She asked. "What do you mean?" She glanced at me as she passed me, almost out of the room before we could talk.
"Oh, um… never mind." I mumbled. "Anyways," I re-directed the conversation. "What did you need me for?" I asked, seeing that she didn't have any intentions to punish me.
"Would you please grab some of the folded chairs and place them around the living room so that the gentlemen will have a place to sit? They won't all fit on the couch."
"I thought you wanted me to stay in my room."
"I have to go help them, so please do it."
"Okay," I mumbled and went to work. I grabbed the chairs from behind the fridge, and then took them in pairs of two to the living room where I placed them around. As I was grabbing the last two, voices rang out and I noticed that the boys and Ae-Cha were coming back. I hurried to get everything put in place so they could sit.
"Please, have a seat and we'll discuss your decision," she told them. Four took a seat on the couch, and then the other three sat on the fold out chairs I had placed.
"Let me introduce us, I'm Namjoon, this here to my left is Hoseok, Jimin, and Yoongi, and to my right, Taehyung, Jin, and Jungkook."
"It's very nice to meet you, boys. I'm glad someone will get an opportunity to go "home" today. Speaking of which, what are you looking for?"
"Well, we're a boy band. Our company has some strict policies, and our manager saw that he shouldn't and couldn't change the already made rules, though we needed to take on some responsibility since most of us came in at a younger age. Adopting a child until they were ready to move out seemed like a great idea to him, so he's supporting this decision. I'm honestly surprised they let us. Our schedules are so packed, but we're really happy for the opportunity." Namjoon spoke. Ae-Cha glanced at me, signaling to get out and reminding me that I was still grounded. I bowed, then left the room. I only made my way halfway up the stairs, though, not to my room. I wanted to hear more about these men, and see if they would adopt Chin-Hae.
"So preferably someone who could care a bit for themselves?" Ae-Cha asked as I peered from the stairway.
"Yes." Someone responded.
"Do you have anyone in mind?"
"We want someone who is responsible, mature, and preferably not too old."
"Well, that shouldn't be too hard, considering our oldest is 13."
"But what about that younger boy, the one who draws?" one of them asked.
"Chin-Hae!" another recalled.
"Yes! He'd be great! He's very mature."
"But maybe too young. How old is he?" One asked.
"Three," Ae-Cha responded, glancing at them with concern.
"That may be too long that we'd have to care for him."
"Yes, I see." My heart dropped. I thought this would be a great chance for him. Seeing that it wouldn't be my friend, I walked up the stairs and into my room. I didn't need to know who would take Chin-Hae's place. I plopped down onto my bed once again and closed my eyes.
[3rd person POV]
"It sounds like you are aiming towards some of our oldest," Ae-Cha stated, and the boys nodded.
"We have a nine and a ten-year-old, those two brothers you met first. Would you consider one of them?"
"Well, we can't adopt two, and I would hate to take just one of them."
"Right." Ae-Cha agreed. "But the only kids left then are around five to two, and you've already expressed concern for that age."
"Yes. I see. We could come back in a few months in case there have been any changes."
"Are you sure?" Ae-Cha asked, trying to find a way to save the situation.
"I hate to ask, but are you sure we couldn't consider the older girl who was down here when we came and began to discuss our options?"
"Oh.." Ae-Cha looked surprised, taken aback that they would mention her, and finally realizing what Sujin meant when she entered the kitchen, claiming she didn't do anything because she obviously had talked to the boys. "Sujin?"
"Yes!" One of the boys called, remembering the name.
"We talked to her in her room, she said she wasn't up for adoption today, is there a reason why, or a way we might be able to consider her?" Namjoon said, confirming Ae-Cha's assumption.
"Well, I mean yes, we weren't planning on having her up today, but if you really want..." She trailed off, not sure what to think.
"She's talented, and Namjoon, you said thirteen would even be a good age, and that is her age, correct?"
"Yes, she is the oldest here."
"And she's an amazing dancer, which Hoseok will appreciate." One of them said as another's face lit up.
"Is that your final decision?" Ae-Cha asked.
"Is everyone good with that?" Namjoon asked, and all of the boys nodded their heads.
"Yes, I think we will like her."
"Well, that's great! Let me go get a few sheets for you to fill out." She left and went to her office to grab them while the boys talked.
"How should we tell her?" Namjoon asked.
"We should take her somewhere fun." Taehyung exclaimed, jumping up and down in his seat.
"Like where, hyung?" Jimin asked.
"Amusement park?" Jungkook suggested.
"NO!" Hoseok screamed, catching the attention of all the other boys. "I-I mean.. she might not like it.." He told the members, rubbing the back of his neck.
"You mean, you won't like it," Jimin told him, as the whole group glared at Hoseok. Hoseok looked down, embarrassed, hoping the subject would change.
"Something like that would be good," Jin suggested.
"Yes, but also, how should we actually tell her? Just bust the words out in a second or what?" Yoongi inquired.
"We shouldn't tell her until tonight back at our place when we get back from spending the day with her," Jin told them, earning nods from everyone.
"Jin, you should make a cake- and dinner- or both..." Hoseok stumbled.
"Then we should take two cars so I can sneak out from wherever we are to do that before you guys get home," Jin agreed, and Hoseok smiled, seeing that he had earned recognition.
"Yeah! We can surprise her!" Jimin exclaimed, and everyone nodded.
"That sounds like a good plan."
"You boys have it all figured out, don't you?" Ae-Cha asked upon re-entering the room. "I'm truly happy that Sujin will have a home, she always worked so hard and has always been mature. She's a great help around with the younger kids, I don't know what I'll do without her!" Ae-Cha chuckled. "But that'll be great for you, considering your busy schedules." The boys nodded. She handed the forms over to the boys along with a pen. "The law states that there have to be two legal guardians, you all live together?" She asked.
"Yes, we do. We didn't think about that too much before we came…" Namjoon told her. "Jin should be the first, who should be the other?" He asked the others.
"You, hyung," Taehyung told Namjoon. "You're one of the most responsible as well as the leader of the group in the first place."
"I think Yoongi hyung should since he's the next oldest," Jimin said. Namjoon nodded.
"Yoongi hyung, I think it should be you." Namjoon agreed. "You're the second oldest and you're equally responsible."
"Mmmmm." Yoongi groaned, thinking about it. "I mean it's fine, I just- are you sure you'd rather me?" He asked.
"Yes, we are sure," Namjoon assured on behalf of the rest of the members.
"Okay, then." Yoongi nodded.
"Great," Ae-Cha said, writing the names down.
"Now if you'll take this and fill it in, I'll go and tell Sujin that she's going out today."
