He woke up with a start. His entire body was throbbing. Kai still had his eyes closed tightly shut, he felt warm, and something... soft under him.
It felt like a bed, a nice comfortable bed. Yet, he somehow forgot this feeling of safety, and opened his eyes up wide quickly.
His eyes searched the surroundings immediately, absorbing every little detail.
I was laying on a couch, and there was a light in my face, blurring my vision. I moved my head quickly, blocking the light with my torn hand.
I was in a house, laying down on a coach, with a blanket covering my body, and a soft white pillow was underneath my head.
The background was wooden walls, giant logs peered up into the house, holding up the ceiling. The wood had an unusual purple--tint.
There were beautiful paintings scattered across the walls, they looked extremely expensive. The paintings were shrouded in alluring sunsets, mountains, and other good--looking art.
In front of the couch Kai was laying in was a coffee table, with a glass top. It wasn't appealing whatsoever, just a plain, wooden table with a glass top. And beside him was a small desk, with a lamp on it. That's what was shining in his face.
Anyways, across the living room was a bookshelf with tons of thick, and huge books. And next to that, was an wooden door, with perfectly carved out snake design. There was no door. Above him was a ceiling fan, which he didn't even pay attention too.
Behind him, was another table, but it was longer and had another perfect embedding of snakes spewing out venom.
I looked away from behind me, and grasped my stomach. It was bellowing and throbbing, hungry and hurting.
I felt like jumping up, and running to the bathroom to throw up, but I had no idea where I was, or how I'm here.
He was walking through the forest as normal, Kai had mended up his stitches, ate, drank, and hit a wall.
That's when he remembered about falling, and a man picking me up, and running before I passed out.
I looked back at the door, and struggled to stand. I moved the brown furred blanket to the side and bolted up.
But, I couldn't stand, every time I'd try I'd just fall back down. My legs couldn't lift my weight, yet even I knew that I was as light as a feather.
I cursed. And swiftly fell back down, plopping my butt onto the couch. I looked back at the door desperately, and just then a little boy appeared.
He looked around 10 or 11. He had long, brown hair with long bangs. His eyes were piercingly yellow. He was very athletic looking and had a grey tanktop on. He wore black shorts along with that.
The boy then looked back and door, upon seeing Kai he bellowed, "He's awake Grandpa! He's awake!"
Then the boy ran through the snake designed door frame, leaving Kai sitting on the couch, awkward and confused.
I had no idea why I felt so awkward, but something about that boy was off...
His eyes were yellow, which was definitely unnatural. He was athletic and skinny, though that was common and normal.
His eyes though, they were scarily yellow. They seemed to light the room as he came in. It was, slightly horrifying.
But nothing compared to the demon.
After a minute or so, the same old man that carried me here bursted through the door, with a jolt of excitement on his face.
The man full on sprinted at Kai, and jumped onto the couch beside him. The sofa shook and creaked, I honestly thought it would break from the sudden impact.
The Old Man was huge, and his muscles matched that of his body. He was wearing a black tanktop and white shorts, similar to his grandsons.
His brawn arms were ripped, and flexibly glowed in the lamp's light.
The Old Man threw a big fat smile at me, and exclaimed, talking hastily, "Who are you? What happened to you? Are your wounds healing good? Do you need anything? Why were you wondering in the forest near the border?"
He talked so fast I couldn't even keep up, and just stared at him blankly. Once he finished, the Old Man looked at me expectingly, like he actually thought I would answer it all that hastily.
After a couple seconds of staring, the Old Man lifted his hand to his face, looking down and shaking his head to himself.
He then said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm asking too many questions, take your time, I'll wait. Don't worry, you're safe here."
The man continued, "Anyway, I'll ask this first..." He put his hand up to his face, doing a thinking pose. "Where did you come from? What family?"
I looked at him, surprised at the sudden buff Old Man that just ran at me, asking way too many questions. My mind couldn't keep up, and I tried to speak.
My voice croaked, "Whaa.... Wheere?"
That's when I realized that my mouth was so dry, that I couldn't speak. I tried again, rasping for air. "Waatte"
The Old Man looked at me strangely for a moment, before understanding what I said. He hollered at the young boy at the door, "He needs water! Get him some please!"
And at that, the boy walked through the door and came back seconds later with a glass of water in his small palms.
He walked to me, his eyes looking like thunder, yet polite and harmless. The boy bent down and placed the cup safely into my hands, being careful.
Kai grabbed the cup and chugged it down, not a second to spare. The Old Man looked at Kai with an odd expression.
I finished the cup and placed it on the coffee table, feeling the sharp pain in my stomach.
I looked at him and replied, "Faa...mily? I...I don't know..." The Old Man stopped, examining Kai, his eyes were also yellow, but not as bright as the boy's.
"Well then.." The man said, "I guess I should introduce myself. I am Zou Yan, from the Yan Family." He then pointed to the boy, "This is Zhua Yan, oh, don't worry, he doesn't bite."
I looked at the boy, squinting. He looked at me, staring. He seemed dazed. The Old Man noticed this and snapped his fingers at Zhua.
He roared back to life, slightly jumping up. "Sorry Grandpa..." The boy's voice was loud and clear. In fact, they both were loud.
Zou looked at my sympathetically, and hastily said, "Sorry, he does that sometimes, I don't know what's wrong with him..."
"Anyways, I'll go cook up something for us to eat." Zou quickly said, noticing Kais drool coming down his face.
I was drowning in my own hunger. As Zou talked, I thought about food, hamburgers, fries, chicken, etc. I couldn't help but drool.
Zou stood up from the couch, and spoke softly, "Now, you get some rest, I'll wake you once dinners ready, haha"
He laughed and left the room, leaving Kai sitting on the chair, alone. He layed down, feeling shaken up.
Who are these people.. They seem nice, but that boy..
Kai couldn't help but think about the boy's eyes, it was a bright yellow, and yellow lightning could be seen inside them, constantly striking and moving.
This was abnormal, but he was safe, sitting on a sofa, and with a blanket covering him. It was warm, and that's when I noticed there was a fireplace far to the right of the bookshelf.
It was huge, taking up a large portion of the wall. I had no idea how I didn't notice it before, so obviously huge.
In the fireplace was a fire, it's bright orange and red color lighting up the wooden house. It's sparks bounced up, only to decline into the logs.
Anyway, the entire room was nice and quiet, the only sound that could be heard was the fire crackling and a pan moving in the other room, Zou was cooking.
I grabbed the blanket, and moved my legs up painfully back onto the couch, and then realized.
My wounds!
I quickly moved my torn up white shirt, my jacket had been lost back at the cave. Under my shirt, was freshly knitted stitches, they sat perfectly unbothered there.
Zou must've done it, he fixed Kais stitches. I pulled my shirt down, and tugged the blanket up, and fell asleep.
11PM
Kai woke up, feeling something tugging and shaking him. He woke up, and saw Zou shaking him, with a bowl of soup on the coffee table.
He moved aside once he saw Kai awaken and positioned his hands to face the bowl, making it clear dinners ready.
I grabbed the bowl of soup, it smelt amazing. It was brown with what looked like a lot of veggies. Several different colors plopped up in the soup, and I gulped it down in under a minute.
I then looked at Zou, who hadn't said anything yet, and he just watched me, and when I finished he looked at me with a serious expression on his face.
"We need to talk, I'll give you a refill in a second..." He grabbed the empty bowl and ran into the kitchen, getting more soup.
He then ran back, dripping some soup onto the soft, fur carpet. Zou handed the soup to me and I ate it slower this time.
I took small sips, only now realizing how hot it was. It burnt my mouth, and now my tongue was aching in heat, as the feeling just now acted upon him realizing how hot it was.
Zou still looked serious. He looked at Kai like a traitor, and said,
"Are you from the Chi Family?"
