He continued to walk, and the particles were getting denser. More and more kept appearing as Kai got closer and closer.
He crept among the bushes, watching for signs of something following him. Although, the forest's particles made him feel safe, he couldn't forget about the dangers and lose all sense of security.
He had to be careful.
No matter what happens, if you mess up once, your dead. Kai kept repeating this in his head, trying to remind himself to always check his surroundings for any signs of danger.
As he limped through the forest, his eyes dazzled in the bright particles. He could continuously hear the plop noise coming from all directions, almost clouding his mind.
The colorful particles just kept getting thicker and thicker as Kai walked, he didn't even know the reason as to why he walked through the particles. It just felt.. like that was what he was suppose to do.
No demons or animals appeared, anywhere.
It was, peculiar...
Kai felt his side starting to rip again, and decided to take a small break. He sat at the edge of a tree, examining both his surrounds and the particles.
Plop! Plop!
He closed his eyes, listening to the plopping noise. It was almost soothing, as he felt his body becoming tired.
He fell over, his eyes completely closed. he was silently laying there, still awake, just barely. He did realize that it would be dangerous to sleep outside, but he had been doing that for ages.
Furthermore, he felt tired from his walking and his entire body was sore. He could finally, get some rest after a long day.
He had spent the entire day stitching his body up, eating, drinking, and finally, walking through the forest.
Kai passed out.
The Next Day...
He woke up, his hair was in a frenzy. Kai slept on his med-kit as a pillow. Although it was hard, it was something.
He looked down at his stomach. Suddenly, his face turned from neutral to horrified immediately. All his stitches had been ripped off, his skin along with it.
Kai's face turned purple, and he quickly grabbed the kit and began working. Blood covered all his clothes, going over the old blood like a blanket.
It was messy, just as before.
5 Minutes Later..
Kai finished patching up his stuff and stood up, feeling all his hard work begin to fall apart. Some stitches began to break, but most were holding on.
When he began to limp, he felt the pain immediately shoot up from his legs, all the way up his body. It felt awful. The feeling of pain going through your entire body was pure agony.
Kai withstood the pain though, and continued trotting though the forest, holding his kit, bags, and water bottles.
But, Kai noticed something extremely odd. The particles, they were bigger, and denser. The closer he got, the bigger they seemed to be. The biggest particles would run into the smaller particles, eating them and gaining size.
The colors the big particles had contrasted with the colors it ate. The particles filled the air, like giant storm clouds. Despite that, they still looked glorious.
The sheer sight of the particles still filled Kai with happiness, and he began to follow it. He continued through the forest, hoarding his items by the side.
That was, until he fell back, paralyzed.
As Kai was walking through the forest as usual, the particles became so big that going through them created several smaller, yet still large particles behind him. They became stronger until, suddenly, Kai hit a wall. It was not visible, and insanely odd. Once Kai hit the invisible wall, it enlightened itself with a dark green, showering over the forest, shining. Although, it was still light outside, the shine it left behind was still very high.
Once he hit the wall, a sudden extremely strong gust of wind splashed him, causing him to fall back paralyzed. All the air in his body had dissipated upon getting hit by the blast. He simply layed there, scared to death and violently gasping for air. He immediately thought it was a demon coming to finally devour him, but something was different.
Nothing was coming.
That's when Kai also noticed, something else was different. Despite being paralyzed he could still move his fingers slightly, but the rest of his body was frozen.
Kai just layed there, upon 20 minutes later did Kai hear the vicious footsteps running towards him.
He had been laying there for over 20 minutes, as he felt both the stitches tear apart, and all the bugs gather on his frozen body, crawling over his skin. It was awful.
He even had an itch that he couldn't get to, as he was paralyzed. But every step of the way, Kai layed there, believing he was going to die sooner or later.
Until he heard footsteps, running footsteps. Kai opened his eyes, trying to imagine what demon had come for him now.
But these footsteps were, odd. It wasn't the usual 4-legged demon running through the forest, but rather, 2 legs running through the forest.
Now, all he could do was wait, until someone, or something comes to eat him. That was, until all his worries faded into the forest. Kai stared, wide eyed, filled with happiness.
As he waited there, and opened his eyes, he saw a elderly man scouring the forest, running around frantically. The man looked around quickly, finally seeing Kai's motionless body on the ground.
His face was chubby, yet his entire body was very muscular. Kai's eyes were blurry, so he couldn't see the mans clothing clearly, but it seemed ripped. The elderly man ran towards Kai's body. Once he reached him, the man quickly turned his body around, examining it.
The elderly man looked at him, upon seeing his eyes open the old man began to speak softly, muttering, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
The man then looked at Kai's stitches and his face turned from sorrow to horrified. He quickly looked over at the med-kit and bottles and grabbed them, stuffing them into his backpack. Kai hadn't even noticed the backpack the man was wearing.
Then the elderly man grabbed Kai's body and picked him up, throwing his useless body over his shoulder. The old man quickly began to sprint through the forest, running around the invisible wall.
Kai couldn't do anything. He couldn't speak, nothing. He could only let this elderly man do whatever he wanted.
But as hid body flopped around, he was filled with delight and happiness, he had finally seen another human being, after so long. He quickly tried to move to thank the man, only to fail and not move an inch.
The elderly man's face was stern, and his white mustache and beard jumped up and down as he ran.
He felt a sense of security, knowing that another person was here. As they ran through the forest however, something felt... lost.
There were no sounds of animals, demons, nothing. No sounds whatsoever. The only sounds being heard from him was from the old man huffing and puffing as he ran through the forest, muttering to himself something inaudible.
Kai closed his eyes, beginning to pass out. He had no idea why, but he suddenly felt tired, extremely tired. He closed his eyes, falling asleep.
