Kai ran. He didn't look back. No way, never again. It was too much.
Luckily, no demon had seen him dash into the forest. Except for the mutilated corpse of the Child Demon, but that didn't matter anymore.
He held his med-kit to his chest, and the food and empty water bottle. These three items were exactly what he needed. It was perfect.
Nothing could get better than this.
Kai heard the sounds of demons screeching and howls coming from behind him, no matter what though, he would never look back again.
Even if a demon began to chase him, he would only look straight forward. His eyes were wide open, Kai looked down at the food bag,
His hand was shaking.
In fact, his entire body was shaking from fear. Pain too. Extraordinary pain. His hand was covered his blood, as the bag and med-kit was too.
His stomach was still the same, covered in patches of blood. The dagger's cold blade brushed against his leg every step he would take.
Kai looked down, to see the dagger glowing anonymously, a bright purple. But this was different than it's usual glow, it was stronger. The purple glow was lighting his pants, making them glow the same color.
The dagger began to shake violently upon his leg. It was moving around inside his pants, trying to move towards the demon massacre.
Some of the demons noticed this light and stopped, beginning to stare at Kai's direction. But nothing was there...
Kai had dived into a bush, gathering all his un-torn clothing and wrapped it around his pants, making the glow less vibrant.
However, if he didn't do this, the demons would definitely go after him. I mean, the demons would probably prefer a human boy rather than it's own kind.
Kai laughed to himself silently, it was practically a mumble. He lifted his head, and began to crawl and walk slowly to another bush, trying his hardest to not reveal his position.
That would mean death.
He continued walking, still hearing the terror and screams from the village. But, it was toning down quite a bit. As Kai walked further, fewer screeches and screams could be heard.
It was another escape, but more dangerous. If he hadn't ran out of that house, he would've been devoured by now.
Disgusting.
Kai spat on the ground beside him in disgust. He wouldn't die to these demons, no way.
He felt a sense of pride thinking that way, like it was some kind of reward for his bravery. His escape plan had worked, he got a nice place to rest, and finally, he now has a med-kit and food. A water bottle also.
Everything was working out, hopefully. One mistake could ruin his chances of complete success in running away.
Once he leaves and finds a good shelter, will be the time he uses the med-kit and eats a snack. He could also use the water bottle if there's water nearby, possibly a lake or pond.
Kai smiled to himself, proud of his accomplishments. But at the same time, he was petrified. All the stuff he had to go through for these items, it was killing him.
I just want to go home...
These thoughts ringed through his mind like a bullet. He just wanted to go home, and see his grandparents. Their nice, soft smiles as he came back from school made him feel a sense of security and protection.
But now that was gone. He had no idea if he could go back. His grandparents are probably worried. Kai felt a sense of grief and misfortune for his situation.
But, it was all his fault. All his fault.
His grandparents worry? His fault, hell, he's the one who went into the cave. The horrible things he saw? His fault. If he didn't enter that stupid cave!
FUCK!
Kai busted his fist into the tree beside of him, annoyed and pissed off. He did this to himself, in a way. And he didn't even think it would be this bad. He thought it would be a fun little adventure, exploring a "Haunted Cave."
He had thought it was cool, and he could brag to his friends at school. Yet, this all happened. He was stupid.
The sense of regret and pity for himself filled his mind, locking him in a cage. A cage he couldn't escape, as the key had been destroyed. He was lost in his mind, filled with all these emotions and conflicts.
That he brought upon himself...
It was all his fault.
Such stupid thing to do, yet he did them anyway. He was a dumbass teen that thought it would be cool, after all.
Kai threw the thoughts to the side however, trying to focus on escaping right now. His legs were burning as usual, and he was silently skipping from bush to bush, running quickly and soundlessly.
The branches from the tree's yanked up and down each bush run, causing some of the bugs and animals living in the tree to either scatter or scurry in fright.
His entire body was shaking, he was cold on his upper-body half, yet burning his legs off on the bottom.
He was scared too, adding to the shaking sensation. Right now, the environment around him was quite possibly the most dangerous part of his escape.
Rocks, sticks, animals, everything could make a sound to alert another huge animal, like a bear or something. One little mistake could ruin everything.
So, Kai was very cautious and careful each time he ran from bush to bush. He continued running for over 20 minutes until finally realizing he was far enough away to leave the bushes.
Ahhh...
The moon was lowering, as the sun began to rise. The nice breeze filled his legs and body. The morning was coming to him, finally.
It had been pitch-black that night, only blood lighting up the area along with some small lanterns that stood outside the village.
Damn!
Kai slapped himself in the face.
Why hadn't he grabbed a lantern?! He had only realized there were lanterns now, as he was thinking about the scene at the village, as he remembered though, the image of lanterns lighting up the village was dominant.
He could've used that to light up the area at night.
Stupid.
Kai slapped himself once again, and continued walking. He had gone to self harm as a way to remind himself to not do anything stupid next time. He used it as a reminder that he was stupid, unwilling to think during those types of situations. A reminder that he was useless, stupid, and most of all, hopeless.
Kai coughed, blood spat out on the cold forest floor. The grass whistled through the cold breeze, it's dark green color shining. He stopped.
He realized he had lost his direction.
Kai had been trying to guess what direction he was running in, but only to forget it now. He slapped himself once again and continued running.
Finally, he stopped. Something had happened. Something...weird.
The white particles that lit up the forest was now thicker and stronger. It was, bigger. Oddly big. It was almost as large as Kai's hand.
He looked up, the entire sky was filled with them. White particles. It was very odd.
But, Kai continued walking, staring blindly at the beautiful particles. He accidentally ran into a tree though, as he was so intent on staring at the particles.
He tried to grab them, only for them for fall apart inside his hand and fly through the air in specks. This entire world, it was beautiful, yet so deadly.
The forest, if it wasn't invested with exotic creatures and demons, it would be beautiful.
As Kai walked through the forest, he noticed something even stranger. Yellow particles had begun to pop up and fly through the air.
Then, in contrast with each other, the yellow and white particles coexisted with each other, glistening beautifully.
Suddenly, a massive swarm of particles swarmed through the air, covering the entire area. The plain white particles faded, now all the colors of the spectrum were in front of him, all lighting up the night and glowing the surrounding area.
Blue, red, yellow, violent, every color of the spectrum was soaring through the air, peacefully flying. Some of the particles began to combine, as they got closer and closer to each other.
Plop!
A blue and red particle combined, forming purple. The two blue and red particles got smaller, as the purple one got bigger. The purple particles parents seemed to have given the purple their mass.
This both extraordinary and strange, Kai had no idea what was going on, but he just stared in astonishment and beauty. This scene, just like the cliff view, was full of pure beauty.
The plopping sounds of the particles combing, the nice, cold breeze that flew through the forest, everything was all so calming and beautiful.
Kai plopped down on the forest floor and examined the med-kit and bag of food. The med-kit was covered in dirt and old, spoiled blood seemingly from the previous people to have owned it. Now that old blood was covered by Kai's blood, as the gaping, torn open stomach of his had dripped into the kit.
The dirt remained however, as it was as hard as a rock. The dirt seemed to have been stuck to the med-kit for ages, despite being hung on a wall.
The food bag and water bottle was the same. Covered in mud and blood.
But, the only difference was that the bag was filled with delicious food. Kai was severely dehydrated and dizzy. His mouth was watering at the thought of water and food. He was starving too, tempted to eat the hideous animals as nutrition.
Kai viciously ripped open the bag, devouring the 5 sandwiches stored inside it. Also, inside the bag was a water bottle, filled with nice, old, hot water. Kai jugged down the water and ate the entire thing in less than a minute.
He was so hungry that he couldn't contain the urge anymore. He had planned to save the food, but after that first bite,w he couldn't stop.
Finally, Kai was left with an empty bag and empty water bottle. He now had two water bottles, which he could use to get even more water from a lake or pond.
Lucky.
Despite that, he had eaten all of his food. He closed the bag and opened the med-kit.
Inside it was bandages, medicine, needles, everything needed for a med-kit. But, something was different. There was a small glass bottle, shaped like a potion. It was glowing green, and bubbles could clearly be seen popping inside the bottle.
It had a cap on, and layed beside the bandages.
Kai looked aside from the bottle, and grabbed all the bandages. He began covering himself with them, while also using the napkins to dry himself clean of blood.
There was still blood left on his body, but was greatly reduced and replaced with bandages. But, still, there was one problem.
He was sick.
Kai coughed, blood spat out once again. He was sick. He had no experience with medicine or anything related to it, and he had no idea what was wrong with him.
What caused his sickness? Well, that's easy.
Probably from the stick, or all the other wounds I got from that damn demon. Everything was from that demon, everything.
His situation, everything. All this stupid, annoying demons fault.
Kai was now shifting the blame from himself to the demon, he was in denial. Who should he blame but himself? He came to the demon after all...
Kai was still in denial for a couple of minutes before continuing his bandages. Finally, Kai stopped the bandages and grabbed the stitches inside the kit.
He had no idea how to sew or use stitches. All he had to do was try. So, Kai began to stitch up his stomach.
He lifted the needles and pierced his opened wound, trying to close it. Kai yelped in pain, but continued. He stuck the needles through his skin and began the sewing.
He would stab the needles through, then get the string to wrap around it.
The entire thing was a bloody mess.
Blood covered his pants and body, Kai began to puke. Finally, after a minute or so he continued sewing, doing a awful job. The entire thing was uneven, barely holding together.
But, he continued sewing until finally, it was finished. His side had been stitched back together, barely holding on. But it was good enough.
Kai stood, feeling one of the stitches breaking apart. He bent down, feeling even more coming undone.
Kai grabbed his stuff, put it all up, and began walking, still feeling some of his hard work coming off. He felt his stomach begin to tear again slightly, but no matter, they were still holding together.
For Now.
His recovery so far was great, as he had gotten food, kind of proper treatment to his wounds, and finally, water.
His recovery was a success. Kai continued walking through the rainbow forest, staring at all the particles as they whizzed by, making plopping noises as they combined with each other, producing new colors.
He could walk straight through them, as they would break apart and later combine together once again.
He had done it, a successful recovery.
