Chapter 4: house arrest

The fire in the library was put out but not before half of the building was taken down by it, the authorities arrived and found Cecile and Damien at the scene. Damien was rushed to a hospital with the police supervising him while Cecile was left in the back of a cop car, Damien pulled through but was then taken to court with Cecile for being suspects to this major crime. The trial carried out and due to there not being enough evidence to conflict because half of the evidence was burned in the fire and the rest of the evidence was mysteriously removed, Damien and Cecile were put under house arrest for two months. After everything that Cecile has read from that book and everything that she has witnessed she is now inclined to believe everything she knew about the thirteen realms the realms that she and no one else knew about or believed in. but since she now believes that there is a demon living inside her brother and she needs to find a way to remove it or kill it if she can, lucky for her she and Damien will have lots of time to figure out how to kill it. While the judge ordered them to continue attending school it was the only place they had left to look for answers so far and yet they still found no hints. They continued their search in the school library this time the librarian was not in the room.

"This would have been much easier if we still had that damn book!" yelled Damien,

"Don't yell at me about it your the one that destroyed it or banished it or some crap like that." argued Cecile,

"That wasn't me it was Volkar using me, so maybe technically it was me but also not me. I don't even know, Cecile I don't want to be possessed by a demon." screamed Damien as he threw a book to the ground.

"I know you don't, I don't want you to be possessed either, you think your the only one who is scared about what's going to happen to you if this thing continues to possess you." replied Cecile in a shaking and worried voice "I'm so desperate to find a way to help you that I have resorted to looking through the damn school library and there is absolutely nothing we can do considering our current situation with the whole house arrest and stuff. You don't think I even considered how much easier this would be if we still had the book.". Little did either of them know that Angelina was around the corner returning a book but also eavesdropping on their conversation curious about whether they are telling the truth or if they are both crazy.

"I'm sorry Cecile, like I said I'm scared and I don't want this to keep happening I want this to end even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice.". When Angelina heard Damien say this she drew the line and turned the corner to interrupt them,

"Damien don't you dare talk about that." Angelina blurted out scaring them both.

"Angelina what are you doing here?" asked Cecile,

"Angelina look it's not what you think Let me explain myself and what is going on." Damien responded

"It better be good Damien and it should probably be short because lunch is almost over." said Angelina, Damien and her walked out of the library and began to walk down the hall as Cecile gave up on searching through the school library as she figured out how much of a waste of time it was.

"I'm sorry I haven't been keeping in touch lately it's just things have been getting really out of hand in the past few days because I've recently found out that I am possessed by a demon."

"Damien I need you to start making sense before I walk out of here."

"How can I be any more specific a demon has taken possession of me and the only thing that we could have used to stop it has been destroyed, and look I'm sorry about all of this and I know that you probably don't believe a single thing that I'm saying but I have trusted you with my life for all these years and I ask you to believe me and trust me on this."

"Damien I want to believe you but I just can't because you're saying is a whole new level of weird and crazy which is why I don't want to date you, you've changed so much since we were young kids, you used to be so sweet and kind now you just, I don't even know how to describe you now. I don't even know how I feel about you now."

"Angelina I asked you out a while ago I might have moved on by now but I'm not saying I have I mean I do still love you but it's just.."

"Damien this is what I mean this is how you've changed, I think we need to spend some time to ourselves for now and figure things out.". Angelina didn't even wait for a response from Damien before she walked away from him, and Damien didn't even know how to respond, while he does accept his part of the blame and that this whole thing is mostly his fault he still feels hurt but Volkar chose not to show himself at this time but Damien didn't question why. He finished the rest of the day with a frown on his face both Cecile and Damien came home with sour faces, Cecile because she had no idea and no way to help her brother, and Damien because he just lost the only girl in his life that he truly did love. When they both came home they both went to their rooms and Cecile burst into tears worried about her brother, Damien just lay down on his bed and watched YouTube until his phone died and as he lay back staring at the ceiling he then began to cry not just one tear he cried many tears when he opened his eyes back up they once again glowed red, and since a broken heart takes a long time to heal Volkar will be here to stay for a while.

He rises from the bed walking to the door but he turned around and raised his hand in front of the bed and fire began to spray from his fingers and didn't just burn the bed he set the entire room and himself on fire. He walked out the door of his bedroom nothing but fire surrounding him and only seconds after he stepped out of the room the smoke detector found the smoke coming from the fire and went off loudly. Cecile walked out of her room to the sound of the smoke alarm and looked in the direction of the flames and saw Damien looking the exact same as he did back at the library, Damien then began to walk towards her slowly leaving behind footprints of fire holding his hands out and setting flames to anything that touched his fingertips.

"Cecile, Damien, come on now we need to get outside." yelled their mother as she ran up the stairs, and Damien hid himself within the fire and his mother grabbed Ceciles hand and dragged her down the stairs and out the door. No matter how much she bragged for her to let her go by the time she managed to say that Damien was still inside she was already outside with her mom and dad, their dad started to run back inside to find Damien until the entrance to the house collapsed and there was no way in. Thankfully Cecile had stepped outside the house boundary so the police have already been informed but by the time they arrived there wouldn't be much of a house left to search. The firemen arrived a while afterwards both Cecile and their mother were in tears afraid and upset that Damien was still in the house, their mother, Rebecca was afraid that Damien was killed by the fire, meanwhile Cecile was afraid that Volkar may have taken Damiens and soul and done something horrible to him. The fire was put out the firemen police and their father, James, were all looking through the ruins to find any trace of Damien, and while they did not find Damien they did find another body, a cat body, peter pan was trapped in the fire and crushed by a large piece of wood.

Damien or Volkar did in fact manage to sneak off during all of the chaos that happened during the fire he melted and broke off the tracer put on his leg in case he broke the barrier, but it was too late the police had already found him but did not inform his family for some reason, three police cars arrived at the entrance to the alley way that he was hiding in. They began to say to him,

"Come out with you hands up!". He jumped onto the fire escape of the building next to him, their flashlights followed him up and when they caught sight of him, he jumped from thee fire escape right onto the closest officer to him. He pinned the officer to the ground and began to beat him to death,

"Jesus Christ what is that thing?" they screamed as they started to shoot at him trying to get him off of their fellow officer, they sadly did not succeed and the officer was killed as he stood up from the dead body. They kept their flashlights on him noticing how much they had shot at him, and questioned how he was still standing,

"Your bullets only cause pain to him and make me stronger." Volkar said as Damiens veins once again start to glow red and the smoke-like vapor once again starts to radiate from not just his body but from his hands, legs, head and red vapor radiated from his eyes. Not knowing what kind of monster they were facing they continued to shoot not even caring that they were making him stronger. He runs towards them quickly and knocks the whole front line with a single right cross, he grabs the leg of on the officers on the ground and uses him as a bat to knock down the remaining officers he looks around at what he has done.

"You are all very strong and the strong must be feasted on to make me the strongest of all." he then began to rip apart the officers devouring them one by one, he ate the ones that were still alive first even as they screamed for mercy, he didn't even finish most of them before Damiens broken heart began to heal. He took Damiens body to the top of the building next to him then Damien tried to regain control but he could still barely heal his broken heart.

"What do you want from me?" asks Damien desperately struggling for control,

"I want to live again and to do that I need your body to release me." replied Volkar.

"Why did you make me eat those people?"

"Did you not hear me the first time, feasting upon the strong mortals will make me the strongest and it gives me more time to be in control of you."

"Well I don't care how many strong mortals you eat, I will not give you control."

"Oh I won't need to."

"What do you mean?"

"All you need to give up control is a little push in the wrong direction" Volkar then turns Damien in the direction of the smoke from the fire, that used to be his house. Without hesitation Damien instantly took back control, by impulse or did Volkar let him. Damien made his way down the fire escape and he ran in the direction of the fire but he should've left Volkar in control because another squad of police are about to be hot on his tail only time will tell whether he will make it back in time or whether he will be caught.
