Battle of Liguang: Sacrifice (9)

Fortunately for Cardinal Yongyu and Thousand Storms, they managed to avoid a fatal strike. It would have been too embarrassing if they were defeated by Sir Winstin and Mingyu Loon at the same time as Cardinal Loujin. No matter what, they were still apex combatants of the human world, Perception Realm Masters! They had their own pride. Despite that, their injuries were nothing to scoff at. Cardinal Yongyu had a deep cut across her chest, while Thousand Storms was nearly cut in half from the shoulder. They could no longer fight. Sir Winstin and Mingyu Loon were about to turn around and deliver the final blow when their expressions soured. They immediately jumped out of the way as several flying strikes rained down on their previous location. People came to reinforce Cardinal Yongyu and Thousand Storms! Then what about the rest of their allies? They took a quick glance around and realized the severity of the situation.

The remnants of the Spider Seven tried their best to hold on, but their combat strength suffered again because of Reverent Monk. With only the three of them left, they could not maintain their stronger formations. A Perception Realm dove in and decapitated one with a flick of their saber. Some crossbowmen made quick work of the other two, finally eliminating the Spider Seven. Humming Swordsman was also not having a good time. He was poisoned by Poisoned Widow in a surprise attack, which left him drained of energy. His lethargic state was a death sentence on this battlefield, and without surprise, Poisoned Widow came back to execute him. The Humming Swordsmen were no more! Blind Snake wanted to temporarily retreat and reorganize, except they were besieged by a dozen Perception Realms at once. They fought fiercely and lasted longer, but they were ultimately cornered and cut down. Like this, the various experts from the Li Family fell consecutively as the Phoenix Division advanced!

Sir Winstin and Mingyu Loon were also instantly surrounded by a swarm of Half-Perception or Perception Realms. They smiled wryly. At their peak, they would still succumb to these numbers, much less when they were missing an arm and a leg. The situation had developed so fast that even they, Perception Realm Masters, could not react in time! Although their sight was filled with enemies, their eyes did not waver. They knew they were going to die here, so they should at least grace their journey to the underworld with as many of their enemies as possible! They would fight to the bitter end! Perhaps Mingyu Loon had finally snapped, or maybe she had always snapped to begin with, but her expression turned more frenzied and crazier. The desperate situation spurred her on and ignited her feral instincts for battle. Sir Winstin had to wonder how he got stuck with such a bizarre partner. Still, her 'optimism' was not a bad thing. It was even a little refreshing. They were about to fearlessly charge forward when a group of people broke through the encirclement. It was unexpectedly the three other members of the Four Dragons of the Loon Family!

Mingyu Loon was dumbfounded. Since the Featherwind Sect's last attack, two of them went missing, while the third was heavily injured. She had little hopes that they survived, but they managed to fight their way here. However, it was clear that their conditions were poor. Their bodies were bloodied and mangled, causing their combat strength to decline. They were nowhere near their peak state but, as they say, a lean camel was bigger than a horse. As the Loon Family's strongest combatants, they were only slightly weaker than the Four Cardinals! Wei Loon wielded his two sabers heroically, Jinhai Loon suppressed people with his staff, and Liqin Loon swept her halberd grandly. The three of them pushed back against the hordes of inexperienced Perception Realms and pierced through the encirclement! Their presence instantly raised the pressure on their enemies. Mingyu Loon had a rare genuine smile on her face, as she joined up with her comrades. Together, they fully unleashed the might of the Four Dragons of the Loon Family! With Sir Winstin's help, they moved to regroup with the rest of their allies.

At the same time, Elizabeth and her friends huddled up into a tight formation as they retreated. Since the final defensive line collapsed, their losses accelerated. Their side had less than a hundred people now, and that number plummeted every second. The remaining Royal Guards and Grand Knights worked together to protect Elizabeth. Sir Velgon lashed out with his sword, Sir Lexus crushed his opponents with his two-handed war hammer, Lady Sirius weaved between with her spear, and Lady Bellin dismembered people with her large battle axe. Although their reputations might not be as great and renown as those other experts from the Four Great Nobility Families, that did not mean they were any weaker. They were also Perception Realm Masters! When the Royal Guards worked together, they could almost contest with the Four Dragons of the Loon Family! Despite that, they could not stop the endless swarm of enemies. Reverent Monk and Poisoned Widow collaborated with the Phoenix Division and pressured them.

Ten Dawn Yvonne and Rosemary could no longer remain as bystanders. Originally, they were devoting their energy into breaking the Featherwind Sect's large-scale beguilement array which trapped them inside Liguang. It was their only chance at escaping this impossible situation! However, that was the least of their worries now because they were going to be annihilated first. Furthermore, Ten Dawn Krogan's sacrifice made them a little emotional. They had to step in! Ten Dawn Yvonne and Rosemary dispelled their defensive spells, Moon Cricket Bowl and Mist Shroud Ghost, and began conjuring different spells. Since the battlefield shrunk, they did not have to worry about accidentally hitting their allies anymore. They could go all out! Ten Dawn Yvonne and Rosemary activated their Bloodline Abilities: Celestial Inversion and Myriad Manifestations!

Ten Dawn Rosemary casted the first spell, Mist Shroud Battlefield. A large Magic Circle was projected onto the ground, covering all her allies inside. Light radiated from below as the woman's Core depleted rapidly. Soon, a shimmering wall of water rose, shifting and transforming into a million crisscrossing plants. Whenever someone attacked these plants, the plants would collectively absorb and disperse the force harmlessly. Water could take any shape so it could adapt to anything depending on the circumstances. Ten Dawn Rosemary's Bloodline Ability, Myriad Manifestations, was the encapsulation of this principle! But it was not all-powerful. Just like any spell, its Magic Energy expenditure was directly proportional to the scale. This was not a spell she could maintain for long. However, that was fine. Its main purpose was not to defend against the Imperial Council's attack, but something else.

Ten Dawn Yvonne pointed her wand to the sky and casted the second spell, Solar Butterfly Wing. Above Liguang, a large series of complex Magic Circles appeared, creating a blindingly bright ball of Magic Energy. As the spell progressed, the ball slowly condensed into a gigantic butterfly the size of a carriage. Its wings were even larger with many mesmerizing patterns inscribed on them. It loomed over the skies majestically like a monarch! Then, as if day had arrived, it released a blinding light! Although it was incredibly uncomfortable to look at, it did not have any destructive power. To Perception Realms, whose senses transcended common sense, tricks to blind them did very little. They could more than compensate with their other senses, so it was nothing more than an annoyance. Everyone was prepared to ignore it when Ten Dawn Yvonne smiled.

The light created by Solar Butterfly Wing was special and when shadows grew under someone's feet, shadow spikes abruptly appeared! They were razor-sharp, capable of instantly piercing through armor, as they flew towards the butterfly in the sky. The light shone over a massive area, so it created several hundred shadows at once! Several hundred people were attacked simultaneously without warning! That said, these 'shadow spikes' were more akin to needles than spikes, so their lethality was quite limited if they could not hit a vital spot. Half-Perception Realms struggled to avoid them, but many Perception Realms could evade with their heightened senses.

Upon first glance, it might seem that this spell was unimpressive, but the truly frightening thing was its sheer number of attacks. Avoid one attack, and two more would take its place! In the blink of an eye, the spell attacked more than five hundred times! Furthermore, since they came from the shadows, it made continuously dodging grow in difficulty. Even Perception Realms would succumb eventually! The battlefield was filled with innumerable shadows flashing in and out of existence. However, as the spikes reached the butterfly, the butterfly would dim a little, as if absorbing the shadows. When the light finally faded, the spell ended. The battlefield grew quiet. Ten Dawn Yvonne nearly dropped to her knees out of exhaustion, while she struggled to maintain her other spell, Yearning Dawn Owl. Neither she nor Ten Dawn Rosemary forgot about their primary objective to break the large-scale beguilement array. Yet, through her Solar Butterfly Wing, she managed to kill over two hundred soldiers! It was an indiscriminate mass murdering spell!
