Gunfire erupted across the plains as the mercenaries threw themselves under cover and began opening up with their rifles. It wasn't just guns – mages were flinging ranged spells from a distance and incinerating vast swathes of Killer Bees.

But there were just too many of them.

Hissing to Adrian and Melina, I had them crouch behind the tall grass and flowers for cover, and slowly led them behind mercenary lines.
