Chapter 2: skill that seemed useless

A certain amount of time has passed, and a young boy that had collapsed twitched as he woke up in somewhat of a daze the child looks at his surroundings and there where three things that he saw.

One, a decent-sized lizard, was eating the carcass of the zombie that he killed.

Two, the fiend of an uncle was just bones now as if the lizard around 2 meters long and half a meter in height somehow ate him and was halfway through the zombie.

Three he might be next on the menu thus decision?

RUN!!!

And that he did, not noticing as he ran his little legs were changing as well as his insides to support his current action.

As well as the lizard was dragging along what was left of the zombie corpse as it followed him, and the gaze it gave him was a very peculiar one.

Once he got away from the lizard, the boy found himself deep into the town where most of the undead roamed about.

As the boy ran, he noticed a strange thing.

None of the zombies were targeting the weak child as if they were ignoring him are they disregarding him due to his skinny stature or... There was one thing to do to check which was 'Status' then the screen appeared in front of his face showing both the good stuff and the bad stuff.

Flesh Manipulation(1) (7/10)*

-----Hiei's pov-----

Hmm from the look of things I am strong yet at the same time weak didn't think it'd be open about the info very straight forward but it looks like I need to eat to boost my stats up although some things are rather bad a half-human...?

how did that happen?

But first things first let us check the skill as it with be what decides my fate hmhmhm.

Flesh Manipulation(1) (7/10)*: grants the ability to manipulate flesh at the cost of Health and Mana, the higher the level, the lesser the price.

.... I wonder this skill is pretty dangerous as if by chance I use it too much I'll be killing my self....

*gruuu* uh, ok first things first food, water, and a place to stay.

Despite that that I am looking for a place to find stuff to eat, there was one major issue.

Since I was always locked up and never able to go out well, I don't even know where to start.

Meh, let's go towards the most prominent building since I remember my "loving" uncle complain about the place having large amounts of food yet was run down by the zombies.

The route I took was pretty crowded with abandoned or torn-up cars, patches of dried up blood caked the roads, buildings and the occasional posts that I walked by, they were covered up by some plants the popped out of the occasional cracks as the smell of mold and wet ground filled my nostrils.

As I made my way there, the groups of zombies were in different shapes and sizes. Some were lean upper-bodied yet had large legs, and some were vice versa, there were seemingly female?

At least the ones that had sharp claws on their hands and feet, as well as some, had some nifty bone-like armor, tails, wings, broadheads.

Though I think that the scariest one is the one that is noticeable from a distance was currently scaling one of the buildings.

As for why it was doing so?

There was a continuous echo of the same sounds of when my disgusting uncle decided to ditch the old hideout and carry me like a sack of potatoes on his shoulder.

Well back to the humongous monster so far away...

It was huge, taller than the rest, and its body looked like it was put together by numerous amounts of the regular zombies only to cause the building to break from its sheer weight and fall with pieces of the building landing on it.

Using the beast-like ones as a reference, I changed my fingers into claws while watching my health to make sure it doesn't fall too low.

The cool thing about it was I have to continually use the skill for 2 seconds before it starts to eat up my health and mana, so I tried changing my fingers little by little.

The result was well somewhat brittle blades on my fingers and slightly armored arms.

I looked like a bony grayish goblin that late uncle always compared me to then again with the damage he has done to my face.

I could scare off a goblin with a simple smile.

I should probably fix my face later when I get a chance.

After a grueling two hours of keeping myself busy with trying to learn more about my skill, I finally reached the building.

I haven't come across any people just hundreds upon hundreds of zombies, although for some reason, a female zombie seems to be following me, as for why?

I don't know...

Why haven't I killed it?

It hasn't attacked me or has done anything threatening, although it groaned and purred at me, and if I had to describe how it looked kinda reminds me of a cat.

Then again, she moved like one now kind of hard not to imagine the cat ears and tail sprouting out and then whenever a zombie tries to get too close.

She currently has a zombie arm dangling from her mouth as this girl was munching on it little by little.

The zombie girl looked around late teens despite the dirt on her face and in her hair, I'd say a gorgeous one. Like the kind on those magazines, my late fiend of an uncle huffed and puffed at.

Her clothes were torn. I'd say from wear and tear the blackish tube top had several holes that exposed the nipple on the left breast as its edges dug into it.

The pants that she wore were very frayed jeans so much that the waistband was barely holding it up.

Fare skinned seemingly hard to tell with all the dirt, which made me think that she really wasn't a zombie due to the lack of rotting flesh.

With reddish hair can't tell if it was from blood or natural, grey eyes that show a tint of red whenever she looks at the lesser zombies but changes back whenever she looked at me, it was as if she gained some unnerving clarity.

Well, regardless, as I entered the building. It was even worse than outside as for why?

There seem to be two groups of zombies one group that had bone armor covering its whole body like a tank.

I heard my late uncle mumble about in his drunken stupor before all this happened. And as for the other group, their arms were blades..... like uhh.... what was that saying again?

meh, I don't remember. However, I can say like a knight versus a swordsman.

As they charged at each other, I looked for food as my new companion was getting rather antsy from the fight.

Thanks to This is one of the reasons why I left, as I certainly don't wanna lose my new friend, we found a store that looked like it had a tornado go through it with signs of a bloody fight some time ago with some leftovers of someone or something.

Upon looking down, I find pieces of metal that had a tint of gold colors on them covered in dried blood and hollow on the inside, I kicked it to the side and resumed my search for food.

At the same time, the other stuff was inedible or expired, spoiled, and rotten.

I got a hold of some canned food some corned beef and some other goods that can last for a while as for why I know that heh having a narcissistic uncle that bragged on and on about his superior mind leaves a few facts to remember.

As the sounds of battle echoed about, I now had a significant problem.... how the hell do I open this thing?
