Chapter 3: there is no such thing as a fair fight

After finally opening that wretched can (at the cost of breaking my brittle claws multiple times) and devouring the corned beef, I felt a tad bit better as my skill was now level 3 from my struggle with the can.

So I decided to see if I can repair myself, first thing first was my face.

As I removed the excess skin, my head felt lighter and itchy.

During this process, Rain, my zombie companion, I named her after the current weather as she was sitting at a corner as she held me in her bosom, still unable to figure out as to why this zombie seems so human-like compared to the others.

This girl was currently licking my head like a cat does as she purred like one too.

Sometimes I can already imagine her with cat ears and a cat's tail.

In contrast, I did try to pet her.

It led me to be hugged, nearly smothered at first from the size of her breasts, and now going through my current predicament.

Don't get me wrong while this kinda sucks being covered in saliva, it feels somewhat comfortable, nice, and comfy, as the natural pillows are rather cold they felt like marshmallows.

It reminds me of something I have long forgotten about but can't seem to put my finger on what it might be.

But the peaceful moment got ruined due to the noise that grew louder from not very far from us.

"GGGRRAAAAAAAOOOOORRRRRRR*

During this moment, the roars of the battle between the two groups of zombies have escalated to the point that the building was beginning to shake and crack.

It has been half a day, and these two haven't finished fighting or killed one or the other yet.

It would make one wonder how much stronger they can get?

But you know what, I need to get stronger, and these guys will be perfect for increasing my level.

It took me a few tries to finally get out of her grasp as Rain hand a finger in her mouth with a sad look and tears on the edges of her eyes.

When I managed to wriggle out of Rain's grasp reluctantly as I evoke my ability to envelop my body with a layer of hardened bone and flesh while it is a thin one, at least it can help even a little now to take down some zombies.

I sneaked into the area where the battle between the strongest ones is occurring at this moment, and interestingly enough.

Both sides are still doing well as they are clashing armored arms against bladed arms.

Both seem to have numerous cracks from their clashes.

They pushed each other away as they prepared to fight yet again.

As for the other weaker ones, it looks like they were all killed by being smashed or torn up or diced up.

One of the mighty blows from the armored one sent a stray piece of zombie's arm at me and Rain, which she happily tore in half with delight, as she tried stuffing my mouth with the more significant part to eat which I desperately avoided.

But before I get about their battle, let us name the armored one Tank and the sword one Blade, ok? That would make things a whole lot easier.

Tank charged again as it roared and Blade met the charge with its own then attacked like a spear with a quick yet powerful thrust as it aimed for the eyes of Tank, upon perceiving this, Tank tilted its head as much as it could, however, Blade's attack managed to pierce through the left eye and out through the left temple.

Tank roared in pain however it stayed true to its charge and tackled Blade to the ground with a grunt, this however caused Blade's attack to rip out from the left temple spreading flesh and blood towards the area and let what remained of an eyeball fly into a wall with a splat.

With Blade pinned down, Tank released a smirk as it raised its arms then it interlocked its fingers and slammed down towards Blade's head.

BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM CRACK

Tank released six powerful strikes that sunk Blade's head into the ground as it cracked from the blows rendering blade immobile.

Tank stands up, looking at its defeated opponent, then releases a roar, a roar of victory as it crushed a worthy foe. (literally in this sense)

*Shwink*

.....the sound of a blade passing through briefly enough for those nearby to hear and Tank got sent flying with a pained howl as its right arm went in a separate direction.

The 'flying' zombie crashed into some debris as its weight caused the area to shake.

Blade stumbles to its feet with a caved-in head, like a small sack of meat it was hanging to the side as if it was boneless despite this a face began to form on its chest that was nearly identical to its head. Well, at least before it got pummeled to a pulp.

The eyes on Blade's chest opened as it stared at Tank, waiting for the next attack.

The next scene was bizarre, yet it gave me ideas as Tank stood up, and the damage was just wow!

Its spine was what was holding the upper body and lower body together as that last slash from Blade cleaved through Tank's armor and tore through everything from the lower left abdomen towards the right elbow at an angle with its blood dripping to the ground quickly forming a small purple puddle of blood at its feet!

Despite that kind of damage, Tank looked around then bent down, grabbing one of the carcasses of their former minions that got caught during their clash, and Tank's armor began to chip off of it as vein-like protrusions emerged; throughout its arm, as it ate? The zombie corpse.

During this process, Tank's body was expanding and repeatedly shrinking as a new arm popped out of its stub covered in some kind of membrane, and Tank's belly was forming back like a pack of worms warping up each other until it looked as good as new.

As Tank let out a satisfied sigh like one would after a nice meal blade was also making its terrifying preparations as its arms split into two, then 4 showing an eight-armed blade as the face on the chest was hideous as both sides failed to end this battle.

However, This time it was evident that Tank was extremely pissed yet made a somewhat smarter choice of attack as it used its new arm and grabbed a large rock from the damage that the two powerhouses caused.

Then with an animalistic roar flung the debris towards Blade.

It didn't stop with just one it threw as many as it could.

As it got closer to Blade as it did, it began to throw smaller things then eventually the leftovers of zombies that got killed by them.

Both sides minions were annihilated, and the finale was coming up.

Blade was preparing as well when he made a low growl his weapons began to vibrate, releasing a heavy ringing sound as it slashed away at all of the projectiles all eight of Blade's arms were busy chopping up, and things that Tank threw as every one of them was packing weight as bullets would.

Every projectile that got diverted tore through the areas they hit.

When they were close enough to each other this time, it was like watching two fighters beating each other senseless, not caring for the damage they received, and the monsters just wanted to deliver as many blows as they could muster.

As for those strikes that hit, Blade managed to get rid of left some lasting damage. However, Tank wasn't looking any better as He was now missing its jaw and had holes in its torso.

As parts of Tank's arms were missing bits and pieces from the attacks that he received upon delivering a blow, including some fingers, As Tank tried scrounging up whatever he can to attack since he was somewhat slower than Blade.

Despite the damage, Tank was slowly healing as was Blade, but strangely enough, as Blade got more damaged, the damage caused by him also grew, and while watching them from afar, one could see that, despite the being near death.

Despite how much the two are trying to kill each other, one could see a battle-hungry smile on their faces as if this was just a game to them, entertainment.

Seeing how badly they were beating and slashing each other, I was waiting for the chance to charge in and claim my prize at a nearby pillar about 10 meters or so.

However, Rain thought otherwise well if she could even plan for sneak attacks at least.

As I hid in the dark nearby, waiting for both of these powerful zombies to wear each other down with devastating attacks So that I may get the last hit in to boost my level.

Rain charged at Blade from behind, holding the left arms with legs and the right side with her arms as she tried to rend down at the lumbar spine with her now razor-like teeth creating an opening for Tank to find an opportunity and try to deliver a finishing blow.

So I, too, came out from hiding and desperately charged to save Rain somehow as my bladed hand penetrates the soft area of the abdomen that was healing at an angle.

At the same time, my attack manages to reach rather deep what followed was a powerful smack that not only sent me flying to a pillar in pain, but my left arm that I used to attack got mangled.

While I did manage to help in a staggering manner, then next scene made my heart go cold as Blade manages to break free from Rain and splits her body in half sideways from the hip area then resumes its battle with Tank.

Sadly for me, Tank delivers his last strike through Blade's body and gets skewered by Blade in multiple angles through the head and chest, causing both to kill each other.

However, that was not my primary concern now as Rain was dragging what's left of her body towards my direction as she held the arm of Tank that went flying earlier apparently she wanted to give me food?

Despite what has happened to her.

Rain tried to reach me as her entrails were being dragged on the ground leaving a bloody trail behind.

I struggle to get to her;

however, the damage from Tank was too heavy, and I was feeling tired, so tired that I need to close my eyes for just a moment as today was just so tiring.....

I need a quick nap...
