TO RECOGNIZE

Mei didn't utter a word as she stood there staring a hole at Xue. Not knowing what to do Xue just pulled out an awkward smile before continuing with the phone call.

Mei ignored it as she walked to the kitchen to grab a glass of water.

"How is Mei?" asked Su Lin from the other end.

"What do you think? You should have an idea?"

"It was my mistake."

"You are always ready to apologize but also the first one to hurt her. How could you even think of something like that? I really don't want to spend another minute on you. If you wanted to know about her you called up the wrong person. I'll leave you here."

She hung up the phone and looked around to see Mei exit the kitchen.

"Mei!"

Mei turned around to see her walking towards her. "What did he call for? Routine Checkup or what?"

"You could probably say that. Anyways what are you up to."

"I am heading back."

"What? It's late. Why don't you just stay back and rest a little bit more?"

"No, I am leaving. I have things to work on."

"You are not going outside tonight? Right?"

"Yeah, I am not. So, you don't have to worry about it."

"That's a relief."

"So, I will head out now."

"Ok, Take care."

Mei left the apartment and headed home. She walked back home. The cool night wind caressed her with its light movements. It helped to calm herself down. She enjoyed the short walk back home.

She entered her apartment and went straight to wash herself up. Once she was done showering and dressing herself up, she went to check her phone. She saw the usual missed calls. She ignored them and sat down for a moment.

Slowly, the thoughts that were bugging her started to creep back in. She thought about Hui and Liling. She just couldn't ignore it. As she went along with her train of thoughts, she saw a similarity between the two.

She thought, 'When I met Liling she was in danger of getting abducted. And when I met Hui, he was being tailed and he was also in danger. Is this a coincidence? Are they related by any chance? Let's change track. Why was he being followed? Or why was she being abducted? Either they are in debt, or they offended someone big, or they could simply be powerful. Wait. So, if he is from a powerful background just a name should be enough to pull him out. Right.'

She suddenly got up and went into the black room to dig up more details. It didn't take a while as a few results came up.

'Ah… Now I see why I thought he was familiar. Liling's Uncle.'

Hui sat down and opened the folder. He looked at the few details of people who had tailed him. As expected, they were unfamiliar names that lead to dead ends. He would have to do an extensive search on these guys. He then looked at the details about the jeep. 'Blue chaos? Was it theirs? Has she got a feud with them or what? How did she end up getting involved there?'

'Knock-Knock'

"Come in" Hui said.

Seeing Lei, Hui asked, "Did you find something?"

"We did find a footage for Liling's incident."

"That's good. So, what is up with the face?"

"The footage quality is poor."

"We could just do a bit of clearing."

"It won't help also there is no way of recognising the person."

"Why?"

"The person seems to be fully covered."

Hui got up and went to take a look. Indeed, it was not of great use. As disappointment creeped in again, he turned around and asked, "Anything else?"

"Yes Boss, we looked up for Mei. We found that the address was not Mei's but under someone named Xue."

"Ah.. I see so it was Xue's house anyway so what did you find about Mei?"

"She works at Blue Chaos. She is leading the designing department-"

"She works at Blue Chaos. Give me the folder" demanded Hui.

He read through the details and said, "This won't do. I want more details about her. No, I want to know every single detail about her. And don't come back until you have some solid information. Do you get me?"

"Yes Boss."

"Now get going."

"Yes Boss."

Hui thought for a moment, 'She works at Blue Chaos so why did she say it was not hers? It could really have not been hers but still. Maybe I should drop by her address and hand it back. Or should I just call her?'
