Amora's P.O.V.
"Shit. Could have been worse." I muttered. There are lots of things that I've been thinking about lately. One is that I have to finish my problems before this week ends or else I'm going to be doomed. I have to make sure that things are in order before we go to London. Its currently dry season here in the Philippines, which the people mostly refer to as summer days. And believe me, summer in the Philippines is no mercy. I feels like you're walking and melting at the same time even if you've got an umbrella. Its also the time where commoners complain for the heat and worries with the threat of El Nino. Not so surprising eh. Filipinos always complain. We love to do that. But we don't really complain. We just want others to know what we feel and we like to say the obvious but other people thinks that its a complain. Its not just the heat that we "complain" about. We also complain about the rainy seasons because of the cold and the flooding, together with tons of typhoons that seem to love visiting this poor country in the tropics.
*Sighs.
Anyways, its not the weather that I'm pissed about, I mean yes, I am pissed with the weather because it just adds to my headaches. What I'm really pissed is that I'm stuck in this office making sure things are in order while the Hood is out making preps for the London escapade. The air-conditioning system in the office does helps a lot with the temperature but it can't sate my want to go out and shop. Sometimes I regret that I'm the vice president of old man's company. He could have given the position to someone else who's very willing to grab the opportunity. It could have been one from the Hood but those co-bastards of mine just wouldn't want to be tied with responsibilities.
I sighed again as I continued typing on the laptop in front of me. I emailed all the board members that were going to be gone for a month or more, depending on the circumstances. One month or more is too long to be away, yes but I already made the perfect arrangements and cover ups for our presence while were away. I'm sure no big problems will arise. Fingers crossed. The board already knew about this of course. I already held a meeting regarding this matter and to say that they didn't like it is an understatement. They were livid. The Hood is the company's main assets, without us, the company will crumble. It could survive for a few years but not that long especially now that the CEO is preparing to retire, the burden will surely fall on us. Which is good because I'll be the boss and of course the Hood will work under me. And I'll make them suffer like I do today. Hmm.
After a few minutes, I heard a tap on the glass door. It was my secretary.
"Come in" I told her.
"Miss Hildegarde, your siblings have arrived." she said reffering go the Hood.
"Let them in." I told her while I continued typing.
"Yes, Miss" she said and exited.
After a while I heard laughter at the hallway. It was my first rule on the company being broken. 'SILENCE'
"Something must be hilariously funny, eh?" I said without looking up from my laptop. These fiends could hear me even if I'm miles away and they'll know that I'm speaking to them.
"Yeah. You are funny. Being stuck in this dungeon of an office." Brandon said while sitting on the L-shaped sofa at the center of my office.
My ears sprang up with anger. I imagined throwing the vase at him so I could see him bleed. I looked up from my laptop so I could stare at him dead in the eye to show him how much I didn't care being stuck up in here. At least that's what my pride told my brain.
"Heck. This office is the coldest place in this building. Just look at the air-con in full blast." Nessa muttered before I could confront Brandon.
What does she mean cold? I'm even sweating right now.
"Geez, good thing I've got my jacket on." she added.
How could these devils come in here and talk about me in front of me?! I mean would I rather they talk about me behind my back? I guess this is better.
"PSH. Shut up you cold hearted twins. How could you complain about the cold when you've got no blood in your veins but ice?" Golden retorted rolling her eyes.
My mouth opened in surprise. How bitchy could Golden be?
The twins fell silent after that and I pretended to keep on typing on the damned laptop. Anyway, a few more emails and I'll be done. Brandon smirked whiled Nessa snorted.
"Could have been worse," Dean muttered in the air as he dropped their bags on the floor.
"Hey, looks like you've shopped a lot." I said, not looking up from the laptop.
"Yeah. We've doubled it. Just in case." Dean added.
"Just in case, huh." I replied. "Okay I'm done."
"That was quick," Brandon grinned jumping from the sofa.
"Can't we stay? Its so hot outside I just want to take a nap in here.
"Oh sure. Why not stay here for a month till we return. There's food in the pantry including your favorites. You can be my proxy and I'll thank you very much." I told her as I slipped my blazer and picked up my purse.
"No thanks!" she half shouted and ran to the door.
"Hey! Dont make me carry all these!" Golden shouted. She picked up three shopping bags then ran after Nessa.
"Boys?" I asked arching my eyebrows.
"Ugh" Dean shrugged.
"Come on its 2 PM we have to keep moving. I urged them as I picked up a ton of shopping bags.
"How did you guys manage to get these up in here? You could've left these on the trunk!" I complained.
"Ask Dean" Brandon snorted.
"Dont look at me like that, Hildegarde. I just wanted to make sure that everything is safe." He explained.
"Jesus! You could have dropped something without noticing! Come on now lets go." I said
"Could have been worse" we muttered.
*Sigh
That must be the word of the day.,...
