I woke up at the sound of my phone as it dinged, an indication that a message had been received. I clicked through my phone and saw that it was already 5AM London time. I received an email from one of the observers. And it was about Elijah Jaden Edwards.
"Took you long enough," I pressed my earpiece so that the observers could hear. I heard no response. I opened the email and read through the details, my nose scrunching up now and then. He's not what I think he is.
The file showed that Edwards has been in the academy since last year and he was well known in the campus. He loves art and music and many more and I didn't care. I ran my eyes through his family background and I choked. His grandfather was a retired head security of the Royal Family. What a lucky family eh? Does that mean that he had seen the Queen? I almost snickered. I'll remind myself to ask him once they bump into each other again. I continued reading the email and I was quite surprised to know that his father is currently seating as the academy's school director. Cool. My suspicions about Edwards had lowered, but I still didn't trust him. He's too friendly. Talking to the me and my siblings when he should be avoiding us. The siblings and I emits a dangerous aura whenever were together. I could tell because the other students in the halls or in the locker would whisper things that we heard clearly through our earpieces. We could also lipread anyone's mouth and a word cannot escape. It was evident that they find us mysterious, others find us weird or scary. Some even had doubts because how could five exchange students became close on seeing each other on the first day that easy? Quite reasonable. Some were cheeky as men noticed us girls having good looks. Me on my part, hated being appreciated because of my good looks. I hated my good looks. Its as if without it, I would be nothing, I'd be useless. People only care for looks, they don't care who you really are inside.
I sighed and put my phone in the nightstand. Classes starts in three hours because of the different schedule so I decided to have a jog. I changed into a simple black running attire and put a cap on. I was particularly in an all black outfit and I liked it this way.
"I need an isolated route to jog," I requested through my earpiece. The message will be automatically sent to the assassins since they were the ones in charge for our safety.
My phone beeped and I saw the screen lit up, route on the map displayed. I drank a cup of ice cold water and I put a few hundreds in my pants pocket in case I ever get hungry after jogging. I thank the assassins for mazo ng sure that we had our money converted into the current currency here in London. A euro is almost a hundred converted into Philippine money.
I pulled the cap down my face and picked up phone as I attached it to my phone carrier in my shoulder. I also connected it to my earpiece and watch so I don't have to click nonstop and just listen to my ears or look at the watch. I stalked outside and followed the path that my phone instructed me. It was a little foggy outside because its still early and the trees surrounding the dormitories gave off a heavy atmosphere to the place. Fair enough, I was instructed to get to the back part of the dormitory where a good foliage grew. I observed the mini forest first before continuing. A sign at the tree trunk instructed students that they are not allowed to step beyond the point where the tree grew. What a bad idea to have a dormitory near a forest. I wonder what crimes this mini forest hides. I clicked my tongue and stopped myself from thinking such things. But in case, I'll have to work on my computer soon so I could move without needing help from my assassins or observers.
I started the jog through the forest and made my own path, following the route on my watch screen. The cheeky assassins must have made up a route and not a real one. Typical assholes. Fifteen minutes through the jog, I observed that the surroundings have become quieter. The buzzing of various myriads have been silenced the birds have gone quiet. I listened for any signs of life but found none. I only heard my own breathing and the thump thump of my heart beat. I noticed that the trees in this part of the forest have gone mossy, unlike the dried trees I saw on the way back. The temperature have dropped, the fog thicker. I must have jogged faster than expected. I always get lost to the world when I jog, until it turns into a run. And now I'm in the fucking middle of no where. Without the map on my watch, I could almost feel like I'm in another world.
"Can anyone hear me?" I breathed to my earpiece, fog coming out my mouth. My skin felt ice cold. Good thing I was trained to endure the harshest temperatures way back.
My heart dropped as a static sound answered me. That meant there's no reception here. How stupid eh? What would I expect from a forest? Well this looks like a mini forest to me, at least. Smaller compared to other forest that I've been to, this one being the back of a school campus. I better head back now. The siblings must be worried if they knew that I've been out of the radar again. I looked around and enjoyed the few beautiful views I saw. I found new treasured places here while jogging and I intend to come back soon. I looked at my watch and pressed a button for the route to be displayed again but all I saw was an 'X' indicating that it had failed to load the data.
My back turned cold as sweat poured harder from my already sweating forehead and face palmed.
I zoned out while jogging. I made a few turns out of the route. Last time I checked my watch was five minutes ago and I had made five turns completely off the route because I saw something eye catching, not noticing that there is no signal already. How stupid could I be?
I groaned inwardly and I felt stupider than ever. What the fuck did I put myself into?!
I jumped out of my skin when I heard a tree branch snapped behind me....
