The Truth

"So, your brother... is he okay?" Jason asked her. He looked so curious, since she left his house hurriedly before.

She nodded, "Yeah"

"O...kay" Jason scratched his neck awkwardly, "I thought you will never come back, after that flying toy accident"

"You're overthink, that's not good" She said flatly.

Kariel brought a pizza when she came back to Jason's house. She felt bad because she left them like that. They ate together with Matt, and yes... Matt made a little mess. So, Kariel had to help him do the cleaning.

They were in the kitchen, she was washing the dishes while Jason was standing beside her.

"Tell me about Matt." She looked at him in the eye. The way she looked at him made everything more awkward. Jason realised that she had no intention on him.

It was obvious that she like him the way she like other humans. Nothing more.

Jason stayed silent for a while.

"Jason?" She snapped.

"Matt... has been through a lot of things, I was studied in California when he was born, my parents took him to California to see me, but they never make it to my place."

She stayed silent, she could feel his pain.

He shook his head slowly then took a deep breath, "So, I got phone call, they told me that my family caught on an accident. Matt was comma for 2 days, doctors told me that was a miracle, because he survived after that kind of accident. He was still a baby. Since that day, I always took care of him."

It must be hard for him. He didn't cry but, eyes will never lie. He felt guilty for what happen.

"I knew Matt was different since a long time ago, and there was a time when I want to give up on him but, I can't. He only have me, and that was my fault."

She put her hand in his shoulder. "not your fault, God's fault"

He chuckled a little, he furrowed his brows, "I can't believe you just blame God."

She shrugged, then smile "sometimes it's easier to blame it on Him. What happened to your family is not your fault at all."

He looked at her then put a little smile on his face, suddenly he looked up to the ceilings, it seems like he was trying to remember something.

"Leah, is your brother a doctor?"

"Uh... I don't know, why?" She asked.

"I think I saw him in the hospital when Matt was in a comma. I'm not sure but, I think I remember his face."

She frowned. "tell me more about it."

Jason leaned to refrigerator behind him. His thought flied away, tried to remembering things.

"He was an apperentice doctor as far as I remember. He was the one who had to keep an eye on Matt. We were waiting outside Matt's room that time. The other doctors said that Matt won't make it, I saw your brother got inside the room, he said he want to check on Matt, then he came back and he told us that Matt is awake."

It made sense for her now. Zarakiel helped the kid. But why? Why he even worked in hospital as apperentice doctor?

"They said my brother must be touched by an angel" he chuckle a little.

"I'm sure he is." She mumbled. She finished her last plate then she faced him.

"You're so lu–"

She couldn't finish her words because they heard a loud noise on the living room followed by the sound of Matt's cry.

They ran to the living room then found two men standing in front of the front door. One of them had Matt in his arm.

Those two men didn't leave, they looked at Kariel and Jason in the eye.

"Take everything you want but don't hurt him!" Jason was so panicked. He move slowly toward them but, she grabbed his arm and stop him.

"You shouldn't come here at the first place." Said one of the guy, "we have been looking for this kid since years ago, thank you for leading us here."

"What are you talking about?" Jason was confused and stressed at the same time. Matt was still crying, and Jason couldn't do anything. He was too afraid they might hurt his brother if he do something.

"Let him go." Kariel said, "Now."

"Why should we let him go? We were looking for him since one betrayal do something stupid."

"Leah? You know those guys?" Jason glanced at Kariel.

"So, it's Leah now? I thought it was still Zoe" They had smirked on their face, "why don't you tell them the truth, Kariel?"

"Kariel who?! answer me, Leah!" His face expression hardened. He had no idea about what happen.

She couldn't even look at him. Hey eyes focused on those two guys and Matt. She thought that if God was a producer and she was the actor, this is the worst scenario ever had.

She knew them, Josiel and Zariel, they are Michael's army.

"Josiel and Zariel, I'm gonna ask you one more time, put that kid down now before I kill you" She stayed calm, she didn't wanna do things that unnecessary.

"Come home, and he's gonna be yours again" Josiel said as both of them dissapeared with Matt. The sounds of flapped wings echoing in that room for a few seconds.

"What the f– Where the hell is Matt?!! Leah what is happening here?!" He grabbed her shoulders so she faced him now. He couldn't stop yelling at her knowing that she knew something.

"Jason... calm down" she tried to calm him down while she tried to find the right words to say.

"I won't get any calmer than this before I know where the hell they took my brother!!"

"I'll start to explain if you stop acting out like this!"

Jason growled then let away her shoulders. He took a deep breath, "tell me now, Leah."

She sighed then she turned her back. She couldn't look at him, it was her fault.

"My name is Kariel, I was an angel, a seraphim." She said "Those guys are angels, they're following me here."

"angel?"

She could hear mocking voice from his words. Funny but true.

"I know that sounds stupid but that's the truth"

"Okay, lets just say that you and those people are really angels, then why? They were after you, then why did they take my brother instead of you?!"

She turned to him then looked at him in the eye.

"they're not targeting on me, not directly. It was true that they will always keep their eyes on me but, your brother is what they want, maybe as a bait for me too."

Jason raked his hand over his face. Nothing of this make any sense for him.

"They wanna take your brother home, and they want to make me come back home too. it's like walking and chewing gum at the same time."

"Your brother is different, he was really touch by an angel, more than just a touch. He have angels grace in him, that is the thing that keep your brother alive after the accident, and if a human have angel's grace in them, that would be the last thing that heaven want."

"You're joking" he laughed sarcastically "my brother is just a regular kid. There is now way he can have angel grace or whatev–"

"My brother, Zarakiel... You've met him, and I guess it was his grace since he is graceless now, he tried to save your brother."

"Your brother huh? So he's an angel too? I think that makes me I'm an angel too"

"Could you please stop that fucking attitude?" She glared at him.

"They can do it anytime, but why now?"

"Zarakiel put a lot of warding around this house, so angels couldn't find him as long as he stay at home, and I guess you didn't take him outside a lot, right?"

"Then how could they found him now?!"

"I think I broke those warding."

"So it was because of y—"

"No! I mean... I don't know! I didn't know that it's gonna be like this! I'm sorry..."

"bring him back, and I'll forgive you..." Jason sat at the nearest sofa, his hands was on his face. He was so frustrated.

"I only have one way ticket, so if I go there, I might not come back, and maybe it's gonna be impossible to bring your brother back."

"THEN FIND ANOTHER TICKETS!!!"
