Kiara woke up the next day with a little smile which turned into a frown the moment she remembered her past. She mentally cursed herself for going there again, but memories they take time.
Once a routine becomes a nightmare later - a feeling you don't want to give entrance to. After her break-up, she craved for her parents, their care and love were all she needed at that time, but due to their back to back surgeries, they were hardly available.
Yes, her mom and dad were the best parents, they dolled her with everything she ever wanted, they'd spend their weekends with her where they would be together doing stuff yet she felt devoid of their parent's presence most of the times. Yet, she cannot blame them, the world needs more doctors to heal and help a patient.
Her home was home only when they were around, rest it served as a mansion with four walls with high ceilings. Yes, she was a homely person, she did like her space but what she liked the most was her mumma and papa with her. It just completed her.
Kiara had just graduated in Mass Media and Communications and was aspiring to be a Copywriter. She did some freelancing along with her graduation just to shape up her career and add more essence to her profile.
Apart from this, she loved to dance and helped little children to learn some quirky moves. She also loved to manage events, parties as she had that creative hat always on. She stopped all this just to keep her relationship healthy and happy, kept her passion at bay to give him all her time, yet he ditched her.
Closing her eyes to stop tears from flowing, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Looking at the hand, she slowly lifted her gaze to find Rita standing there beaming a wide smile with a tray full of fruits and a newspaper underneath it.
Rita, her nanny, her half-parent, her sister sometimes even her second-best friend.Rita being single and orphan, just two years older than Kiara, was adopted by Kiara's parents.
She stayed with them helping with household chores and managed to study as well. As Kiara's parents thought, that every girl should study, be independent and create her own identity, Rita was more than a house-help.
'What happened Kia, are you alright? Did I do anything? Did I forget anything? Sorry, Kia'.
'Calm Down. Never in the records Ri, you are all I have. You would never do anything to hurt me ever, I know that for sure', replied Kiara, placing her hand on hers for affirmation.
'That's what I love about you girl. You're like a silent sea sometimes, tsunami the other. By the way, what's that little drop on your cheek? Were you crying?', she asked in a hurried tone.
Having stayed together since 5, they both knew each other like sisters and shared a mutual relationship of understanding even without conversing. They could read each other's face and tell, what was on other's mind.
'Okay I know what it is about, but let's just drop it, for now, I need you to tell me everything after your meeting '.
'Meeting, which meeting?', questioned Kiara.
'Something is definitely up otherwise you wouldn't forget the First Job Interview you have today', she replied folding her hands.
She deadpanned, 'OMG, how can I forget about this meeting, Ri you are a life saver, get me the files and my laptop and the documents...
'Kia, I made sure everything is where it should be', she said plainly, 'in your car' finishing the sentence.
Grabbing an apple from the tray and of course her daily dose of the news feed, Kiara hurried towards her dressing room to get ready. She cannot be late for the meeting, as this was her first attempt after her traumatic breakup, of trying something on her own.
While dressing, she smacked herself on her head for being so irresponsible, how can she forget such an important day? Everything was planned for the other night, but her daily travel to and fro in her past ruined her present.
She mentally decided that she would never let him hamper herself anymore, she is responsible for her present now and no one else gets to enter that zone. No one!
Passing through the rack of clothes, she saw her yesterday's clothes hanging and a subtle smile made its way on her face. She blushed thinking about him, how can a man be caring, humble, and down-to-earth.
Was he even real?
Do such people exist?
Will she find him ever?
He sure looked like a Greek God from whatever she could make out of him. Someone capable of ruining her inside-out from just one glance, someone making her feel breathless.
She smacked herself again for thinking about him, her past would never allow him in her future. She would never repeat her mistakes and get hurt again. Never is she allowing an unknown person to take away her sanity.
Kiara heard a voice from outside her room, breaking her trance, "Kia Darling, you are getting late, do you need any help".
Kia shouted, 'No Rita, I am on my way', she quickly took a last look at the mirror, did her usual self-talk,"Kia, you are the best, you'll do it", gave herself a flying kiss, grabbed her phone and made her way out of her room towards the main door and found Rita there with her car keys.
'I hope I make it Ri, I am so nervous yet excited. This is so important for my career. This company is the top most company in the communications sector with ace copywriters and editors'.
'You'll definitely Kia, as always. You are born to stand apart from the crowd girl. I am waiting for the party after', she hugged Kiara handling the keys.
'Bring it on', yells Kiara quickly fishing out of the door towards the parking.
Her red Audi, stood there gleaming in the sunlight, it was her 21st birthday present from her parents. Perks of having rich parents!
She wore a pink colored formal shirt with a white scarf around her neck, white formal pant to go with the office look, Gucci bag in one hand, while laptop bag on her shoulder with documents in it and her iPhone in other and a pair of sunglasses to compliment the look. She tied her hair in a ponytail, giving her a professional look and made her way to the driver's seat and pushed herself inside in a go.
Way to a Fresh Start!
