Sat at his desk, Jez stared at the veined book on his table, he reached a hand out to touch the cover and flip it open, but the moment he made contact with the book, the veins started to glow and pulsates, and a soft beating sound could be heard. thump, thump, thump, it continued, THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, louder and louder until it stopped and released a vibrant red light that bathed Jez's room, 'well I'm glad I didn't do this in the living room', though Jez. He reached out towards the book again and gently opened the book, it was warm, the book was warm to the touch. On the inside cover were the words, The Book Of Chaos, in simple text, no author, no date, just the name. The next page showed a mantra, All system have their beginnings, and all systems must meet their end. The points between each the end of one system and the beginning of another are chaos, all is derived from it and all end in it.
It was a book that described the energy that wipes the slate clean, that destroys everything it comes in contact with, the energy of chaos. It is primordial energy that is the predecessor to all magic that was used presently. The use of chaos magic would allow the mage a near infinite amount of mana, it could also be used to impart temporary storage of mana into an object similar to a battery. That was only the basic use of chaos magic, there are more powerful uses for chaos magic but that requires a deeper understanding of the principle of magic. Chaos magic was by all means an extremely powerful type of magic, but it had its own downfalls, specifically there was a specific prerequisite to Use Chaos, the incorporating of Chaos energy into the soul, but because of the energies principles of going berserk makes doing this extremely risky. If the process fails, the soul would be shredded and destroyed, but if successful, the energy will stick with your soul permanently, meaning that if a previous reincarnation of you did it than the current version of you dosen't need to redo the process.
The book suggests that a quick test can be used to identify if one has a soul that already has been fused to Chaos. Think of something that you want to destroy, something small, focus on how much you want it to be reduced to nothing, close your eyes and still focus on the desire to destroy it, when you open your eyes again, if you have any aptitude for Chaos, then you should see a red glow surround the object. Imagine that red aura permeating the object, then realese the aura you have in your mind, if successful, the object should crumble to dust.
Jez focused on a pencil on his desk, and closed his eyes, when he opened his eyes again there was a red aura surrounding the pencil, this was followed by a short but loud chuckle from Jez. After some starting at the pencil, the light grew dimmer, it was at this moment when Jez realised his mental image and the pencil broke into a black dust. He continued to practice this until he could cause small objects to crumble to dust in a mere thought, he would have predicted more, but he ran out of pencils. After quickly sweeping up the dust all over his desk did he close the Chaos book and pick up one of his others. Specifically the book on metal manipulation and its underlying principles. It seemed to have a lot less in depth uses of the magic, a more generalized approach to it. As the name sugested, it was a book about metal manipulation, a very basic form of metal magic, that would eventually advance to what was discribed as true metal magic, the creation temporary creation of metals.
In comparison to the levels of metal magic, fire magic was much simpler, with only one level, fire magic. Similar to the metal magic theory book, the fire magic theory book was also rather generalized about the use of fire magic, stating that fire magic is a path that the mage descover for themselves. Because the theory book for fire list suggested practices on how to start learning how to use fire.
Because he had ran out of things to practice chaos on and the complexity of metal manipulation wasn't something he wanted to get into at the moment, Jez decided to practice fire magic. The book suggested that to start using fire magic, one should think of heat focused and compressed into a single point, and in practice, Jez made a small flickering flame, 'that's not real fire, it's just compressed air heating up, there's no power behind it. there's no reactions going on, no chemistry'. A thought that contained information Jez had never heard before popped into his head, it wasn't his thoughts, but if it wasn't his then whose was it? He pushed towards where the thought had come from, he was in a sea of darkness, nothing there l but blank space, but all of it was himself. He tried to push more on where the thought came from, but was instead pushed back by something, foriegn knowledge on fire, it pushed it self into his sea of conciousness, found a spot and stitched itself into it, as if it found were it was always supposed to have been. It was a strange foreign knowledge about fire, specifically the principle behind it, the exchange of thing called atoms and molecules that were bonded together with energy, and the release of those bonds would release energy with them, he had unknowingly discovered combustion reactions.
Jez eventually came back from his sea of conciousness, and realized he had been moved to his bed. Siting up he eventually went over to his desk and sat back down, thinking about the principles of combustion reactions, he brought his hand up, palms to the air. He pictured the reaction over and over before picturing large numbers of the reaction occurring at once, looking down he noticed that there were week white licks of flames coming from his palms, the light produced was week but the heat produced was intense, to the point that Jez almost imediatly put the fire out, as everything in line of site to the fire had risen in tempature by several degrees. This was a week small flame, what would happen if he scaled it up? something terrifying most likely, Jez chose at this moment to keep his fire magic in check. As he cleaned up his room and put up his books, he took one last look at the book of chaos, rested his hand on it before turning around and leaving the room. He was wondering what was going to be for dinner.
