Time carried on, Jez continued to study magic along with other subjects like history, language, and herbal medicine from his mother, mathematics, anatomy, and social order from his father.
In the world of Grask, the societal cast start at citizen, then first class citizen, and social worker, these are the non-noble classes, the noble class start with governors, then the barons, viscounts, then the ministers, and eventually the emperor or empress. Jez's family was in the social worker class, not quite a noble but still rather high. There where lower classes than the citizen, but those were classified as slaves, which had their own structures.
When Jez learned of slavery, he was appalled, he didn't learn of it because of the massive amount of fluid funds needed to keep a group of slaves and the city of Morris was rather backroads, so no one had brought any slaves to the city. Later that night he lay in bed, still thinking about slavery, his mood could only be described as livid. His anger at the idea of how people could be treated as objects made him furious, and slowly the pieces started to take place in his mind, slowly allowing him to grasp more energy, the energy of chaos, and slowly a physical change could be seen, a mess of red veins slowly appeared on his for arm, not big, but clearly there. 'looks like some of my personality rubbed off on you, not much but its there', the same tone and style as the previous thought that entered his head, but this time he was too distracted to trace it back.
At this point, Jez was almost ten, and his understanding of his magic was starting to develop, he could change the shape of metal that already was glowing red hot, and his fire magic could turn sand to glass, it was truly much stronger but he didn't want to show that to anyone. Jez had advanced on the path of chaos as well, able to use it to recharge his mana and strengthen his body. His understanding of Math, politics, herbal medicine were all above average but not to an unreasonable degree.
As Jez trained, his parents argued over how they should further his education. His father was saying that he should go to a mage academy, but his mother was rather skeptical about the idea of sending him away. Mage academies teach young mages how to use their powers causing a quantitative change in them, the path to a true mage and magic. But since these academies aren't government sponsored, nobles tend to draft their students into their wars, the biggest threat to a mage at the academies is death on a battlefield, which was a common occurrence because said mages were usually young some being 14 or 15 and the oldest being 30. Nobles draft students because they don't want to lose their mages in the wars they started. So it was with reason why Olivia didn't want to send Jez to a mage school, but eventually, she gave into the better opportunity that going to the mage school provided. Late that night Jez was called to the living room, "Jez, we want to talk to you about the future, me and your mom have talked. We believe that it would be best for us to send you to a mage academy.", when Jez heard this he was ecstatic, but his mood was quickly shot down. "Mage academies are very dangerous places, nobles usually draft their cannon fodder from them for their pointless wars. So we have agreed to change the focus of your studies to combat, strategy, and as many forms of medicine we can teach." Gram said, his face was solemn, "the end result of this is to hopefully prepare you for the event that you are pulled Into a war and must fight.". Jez's fists tighten behind his back, a very familiar emotion wells up from inside him.
In bed that night, Jez constantly mutters to himself, "children, they take children from schools and force them to fight wars that they don't understand and die for causes that have no meaning", he was furious, this anger spread throughout his body, fueling him with chaos. The chaos that had built up into him throughout the night, he woke up from his meditation-like trance to find that his body had changed massively, his veins were very red and very visible, not to mention the change in his skin color from its usual peach to the crimson it was now. "How the hell am I going to go outside now,", the timing was terrible, any moment Gram was going to come into his room to start combat training but now when he did, he would be greeted by some kind of demon. 'This won't do, I must find a way to turn back, this can't be permanent', Jez quickly ran through his options, "wait doesn't the book of chaos describe something like this, and it does look like the cover of the book.". Jez leaped over his bed and to his desk quickly digging out the book of chaos. After finding the page he was looking for he read it aloud, "After a certain point, a practitioner of chaos will unlock the chaos form, at first the practitioner won't be able to activate it on will but ceasing it is simple enough. Simply imagine the chaos energy that is being emitted from your body and forcibly compress it back into yourself.", when Jez read those lines, he became aware of a familiar feeling that covered his skin it was chaos energy, and it was seeping out of him. It took but a second to compress it back into himself, except for a small segment on his right forearm, which he covered with a bandage. He got fully dressed and headed down towards the dining room, it was time to start training.
