It didn't seem to be after our lives, wich was strange. It could have killed all of us quietly and we wouldn't have had the time or ability to react, instead it choose the slow and difficult task of taking everyone alive. I had two options, surrender to that thing, or wait for the guards when the homeowner returned. It was a clear choice in my mind, the guards are lazy, it might be days before they get off there lazy asses and respond, no there was only one choice in this situation. I move the broom from its position before opening the door and putting my hands on my head, I step out the door and see it standing at the end of the hall. The bodies of my teammates are sprawled around its feet, bruised but breathing. It stares at me with a look that can only be described as cold and calculating looked through me. All I hear is a metallic chuckle before a sudden burst of movement occurs and my vision fades to dark. I don't know how much time passed until I woke back up, we were outside, on the roof of some building, looking around, I see five people around me. Our equipment is sitting next to the creature that hunted us down. It sat there staring at us, not doing anything. My teammates hadn't woken up yet, I had probably received the lightest injuries. We just stared at each other before a sudden feeling of discomfort washed over me, time seemed to slow as a set of glowing red veins spread out over the creature's chest, flowing over the smooth grey surface of its body, painting it a crimson hue. It decorated it's entire body before those cold grey eyes started to turn red, the cold calculating feeling they gave off was replaced by something else, something worse. Spikes started to protrude from it's shoulders, knees, forearms and even the shins, each one looked slick with a viscous fluid. The cold aura the creature gave off earlier was completely gone, instead it had been replaced with a sense of rage and insanity. The world seemed to close up around me, I couldn't look away. The monster in front of me stood up and walked forward, not even death himself could compare to the aura released by this monstrous entity, it seemed to snuff out all other emotions except fear and despair. It stood over me like a giant over an ant. But before it could do anything, the spikes diapered and the red veins that crisscrossed its body started to sink back into it's body, the last thing to go was the red eyes, they fought to stay and the creature's eyes repeatedly flickered from red to grey, over and over again. Eventually, the grey calculating eyes one the bout and returned. It stared at me for a moment before turning around and jumping off the side of the roof and disappeared. I will no longer go out and steal pillage or theive, and I will suggest to anyone to follow my footsteps steps, as nothing is worth betting on that things good will. But to those who ignore my warnings l, pay close attention to the dark spots in the streets, listen to your gut when it says something is wrong. If you don't, you might just find yourself staring into cold calculating eyes, and at that point, all you can do is pray that those eyes don't loose their nature. - written on a notice pinned to a board in the Burnt Rat inn in the outer layer.
