Prelude to Introduction Day.

It had been a few days since the discovery of the berserk entity and Jez had been busy, he had been constantly strengthening his chaos abilities to try and awaken the entity. He was running out of time, he had wanted to wake it up before the introduction day, the day in which classes would begin and he could no longer hide in his room like he was now, he hadn't left his room in around five days. He was close, on the cusp of success, but something was holding him back, it was a principle of chaos, something it did to the world around him, the book described the phenomenon as disruption, but refused to give any details about it, the information was there but it was something that prevented him from reading into the subject. Form the context, he could tell that disruption was a sort of milestone in chaos, a point were the path of abilities of chaos starts to branch out from each other. It was the point that shows a quantitative change in a chaos user and required a sort of breakthrough, inspiration. He had kept the lights off to make it seem like his room was empty, when he got up and flicked the light switch to turn on the magic lights, only to witness nothing happen, the lights stayed off. The lights worked 5 day ago when he started to practice his chaos abilities, meaning that the issue had to have been born within the five days, and he had to consciously suppress the panic welling up within him. The light system is self contained, it's mechanisms were only in his room, which means that the problem also has to be within his room, the lights were working 5 days ago so the issue manifested itself within that time frame. He had been in his room all five days so he was aware of the events that happened to the room in those five days. Any system with a failure in it should be first broken down into it constitute parts, in this case the modules of the mana light is broken down into the power source, the trigger switch, the conduit that carries the power to the light bulb, and the light bulb itself. Logically speaking, the easiest way to find the issue was to follow the power, as it shows were the problem would occur. Jez made his way back to the light switch and took the panel off of the wall, behind it was a small stone and a line of runes that were then wrapped around the switch and to a thin metal rod that left the box, that would be the conduit to the lightbulb, the small stone was probably the power supply, Jez reached out and put a hand near it before pushing I thin stream of mana into the system to check on it, he discovered that the stone was charged and had power, but the mana wasn't able to leave the stone. This meant the rest of the system had no power, something inside the room was preventing the out flow of power to the lights. Jez sat back down on his bed, thinking about what had changed over the past five days that could have this affect, it took him only a second to understand what happened. The practicing of chaos had raised the ambient energy available in the room, but it wasn't the regular mana that was common, but chaos energy. It was most likely the reason for the disruption of the mana. Jez started to absorb the chaos from the room and normalizing the energy of the room. When the chaos in the room reached a point where it was no longer higher than the mana in the room, the lights flickered back on. Chaos can apparently disrupte normal mana functions, that probably is the disruption principle of chaos, the idea that chaos in general has more to it than just destruction. Before he could put more thought into the subject, sharp piercing pain developed in his chest, his veins started to glow and swell, Jez fell to his knees before falling unconscious. His heart had begun to light up and glow, luckily he had turned on the lights in his roo because if he didn't, Jez's room would be bathed in crimson light. Inside his body, his heart had begun to harden, forming a thin crystal shell around it, it's movement became more mechanical and stiff, relying on joints and pivots instead of flexibility. It looked like a purpose cut gemstone, it shape had barely changed, but the movement it produce was unsettling, but as it was hidden behind his other organs, it couldn't effect anyone. After a while, a voice popped up, "Were am I?" it asked puzzlement clear on it's voice, "Welcome to reality." Jake answered before proposing his own question, "Do you have a name?". While those two were catching up, Jez was waking up. The pain in his chest had subsided but he was still worried about his heart, as he peered into his body with minds eye, he saw the mechanized organ filling him with shock. He didn't know what it was, and he would have to talk to Jake about it, however it seemed that he was busy at the moment. Jez decided that if it was to become a issue, he would deal with it then. But that wasn't the most pressing concern, Introduction day was less than a day away, and Jez hadn't even left his room in 5 days, much less bathed.

After the sneaky shower, Jez tried on the uniform, it was made of four pieces, a outer cloak, an inner coat, a shirt and a pair of pants. The pants were made of a thick gauge cloth, dyed back with holding straps across the outer thigh and decorated with silver buttons. The shirt was a long sleeve with a collar made of a thin material and was a pale white, it had a set of loops on the breast, designed to hold three vials. The inner coat was made of the same thick fabric as the pants and dyed the same color, it had an off center design to it as the jacket buttoned up on the side just in front of the right arm, it had a set of silver epaulets on the shoulders and a set of six vial holders on each arm and a pouch underneath the right armpit to hold a small medkit. The cloak seemed to be simply made, built from dyed black fabric and had a single silver button to clasp it shut. It looked more like a military uniform than a school uniform. He took off the uniform and hung it up, before heading to the canteen to get something to eat, a warrior can go months without food, but they still would suffer from hunger. It was rather late at the moment, around 12 in the morning, so the canteen was abandoned. This suited Jez fine as he picked through the remnants of last night's dinner a stew that used beef as a base and was rather good, He picked up a steel bowl and sat down at one of the stone tables, he suspended the metal bowl with a set of metal rods next to the bowls. There were two set of silverware for diffrent types of students, a wood set for those who didn't practice fire magic and metal ones for those who do. The metal set allowed students to reheat their food and made life considerably easier. Jez thought about this as he ignited a small fire in the palm of his hand and let the bowl of soup slowly come to a simmer before taking the bowl off of the stand and setting it down on the stone table, he then got up and walked over to a set of baskets with rolls of bread in it and retrieved a roll before sitting back down in front of his bowl of soup and dipping the bread into it. The bread had gone stale and became hard, Jez had been using the hot soup to soften it up by dipping it, he sat in silence as he ate. After polishing off the bowl he set it down in a sink before leaving the canteen. As he got back to his room and got ready for bed, he thought about what classes he wanted to take, he didn't even know what classes there are.
