Murdered Paintings (Part3)

His heart beating fast.

He can see those paintings and Noel can see ghosts, this was a incredible coincidence. He thought to himself.

If he told Noel about his ability, will Noel dislike him because of this? "Should I tell him?"

It's better not to. He thought.

Then, Noel stood up and went to the bathroom.

He took this chance to see what was there at the bottom of the pool.

It was a little boy, drowning. But the little boy did not jumped into the pool by himself.

But someone that had pushed him in.

Chills ran down his spine.

The murder drowned the little boy and smiled.

Then, he went back to the surface to find Noel standing there, smiling at him.

"What are you doing crouching there?"

"That was the spot where my brother drowned." Noel said pointing at where he was standing, "is it coincidence? What are you looking at? From the first day of school, you stared at the classroom floor. What are you doing exactly?"

"I just wanted to see how long I can hold my breath under water" he said, forcing a smile on his face, "its starting to rain, let's go"

As he was showering, he heard a small whisper "Noel killed his own brother, looking at him with a smile of satisfaction."

"Are you done?" said Noel, "let's talk."

His heart was beating faster.

"What did my brother say to you?"

He froze.

"What?"

"I told you before, I can see ghosts." Noel said as he leaned his head on the door, "I saw him standing beside you and whispered something"

"After what he said, you looked at me differently." Noel said coldly, "what did he tell you?"

He closed his eyes, trying hard to not shiver.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Noel said.

He quickly got dressed and opened the door.

"I was just practicing how long I can hold my breath under water, I can't see or hear ghosts." he said with a strict tone.

Noel glared at him, as if he wanted to read what's on his mind.

Noel said lightly "you're looking at me differently, do you know something?"

"Maybe you're just too worried about your little brother."

"I left something in the classroom, can you go with me?" said Noel.

Don't go! His gut told him.

"It's raining, I better get back home soon"

"Do you not want to go with me?"

He sighed.

"Fine, let's go" he said as he tried to force a smile.

It was raining heavily when we arrived school.

The classroom was quite dark, but it got darker when Noel closed the door.

"What did you left anyway?"

"I didn't leave anything behind" Noel said.

He froze and asked, "then, you...."

"I don't care if you know the truth or not... I just don't feel safe with you around." Noel's face turning pale as he said, "you knew what I had done, right?"

"That's good then, that I don't need to pretend anymore." He sighed, "you killed him."

"I knew it, he told you that" Noed said grinning.

"I only saw the truth, anywhere that happened something unfortunate, I can see the a painting on the ground"

"Oh, so that's how it is" Noel said, clapping his hands as he smiled, "so you saw that it was me who pushed him in. You knew more than I expected."

Feeling scared, he took a few steps back.

"You don't need to kill me. I never thought of exposing you. No one would believe me anyway."

Noel shook his head, "I'm glad to be your friend, but I can't risk anything."

"Why did you do that to your own brother? How can you be so cruel." His legs were shaking. Trying to buy more time and run.

Noel laughed "my little brother was a hateful guy. He was flattered by everyone at a very young age, pushing me to the dark and empty corners."

"No matter how hard I tried, I can't catch up with him, making all my hard work go to waste. In front of others, he treated me kindly, but when we were alone, he kept pointing at me to do things for him." Noel said furiously.

He didn't know how to react.

" The only way for me to 'reborn' was by killing him." Noel said sitting on a table," the moment I tried to drown him, I still wasn't sure if I should do it, he was still my own brother in any way. But when I saw he was struggling and the look in his eyes made me laugh out of happiness. He shouted for me to save him, it wasn't a request, but a command. "

" Since you can see ghosts, aren't you scared? "

Noel sneered.

"He can't do anything to me. I go to the pool everyday to let him see the life I'm living, how happy I was, and that he can only stay there all alone. He can't even touch me, that's why I'm not afraid of ghosts."

He stood up and took a few steps towards Noel.

" You're afraid, aren't you? "

" Why would I be afraid? "

" Afriad that people would learn the truth about you. "

" I'll just kill you then," Noel said as he pulls out a box cutter," it's not even the first time I killed someone."

"It was great knowing you" Noel stabbed him in the stomach as he finished the sentence.

"Why won't you believe me? I won't tell anyone...!" he said, huffing.

Holding the box cutter, Noel got closer to him.

He ran towards the corner of the classroom and threw a chair at Noel but he dodged it.

"Keep running! I'll see where can you run to. I've locked all the doors. It's either you or me that's going to die tonight."

"I really won't tell anyone! I swear!" he shouted.

He never thought that Noel would do this to him.

If it's not for the stupid paintings, this would never have happened.

"I don't care if you swear or not. In this world, the only one that is trustworthy, is yourself," Noel said as he threw a chair at him.

He didn't dodged it and hurt his arm.

Bleeding, he crouched down and went under the table.

When he was about to throw the table at Noel, he heard Noel shouting," go away! I'm not afraid of you"

He crawled out and saw Noel shouting at the door furiously "what are you doing? You can't even touch me."

This was his chance, he told himself as he threw a chair at Noel. It hit Noel's arm.

Holding the injured arm as Noel stands up.

He then threw another table at Noel. And that, hit him in the head and crashed to the ground.

Silence...

It was as if time stopped. It was still raining heavily outside, but he can't hear anything.

Is...Noel dead?

He froze.

He didn't know how he got back home.

He sat on his bed for almost ten minutes until he went into the shower. He turned on the water to the fullest. Kneeling, as he cried.

It was at the evening that the janitor found Noel's body.

The school was shut down for about a month because of this incident.

Did he kill Noel?

He wanted to find out if he had really killed him, so he went back to the school at midnight.

He was looking for the painting. He turned on his flashlight and started looking around.

Nothing.

Even the one that has appeared before is now gone.

He lost his ability.

He sighed.

He then looked around the classroom without any intentions. He didn't think that he'd see something that looks like a person.

He was shocked, and dropped the flashlight on the floor.

They, aren't they....

He quickly grabbed his flashlight and looked again. Nothing was found.

He sighed heavily and quickly got out of this school.

While he was walking down the street back to his house, he kept on thinking about the incident, Noel was holding hands with the three children, looking at him.

The three children had no head.

He lost his ability to see murdered paintings, but he got the ability to see ghosts like Noel's.

The street was full of ghosts. He went running, hoping to reach home as soon as possible....
