The Left Behind

My eyes suddenly watering, I kneel in front of the two dead bodies. It was mama Cathleen and grandpa Vince, in their last moments they had despair and shocks on their face. So I close their eyes, I'm still weeping. As for Jill since she was still an infant , I don't know what's going on. Because I cried out loud she also cried loudly. And we both cried loudly and the memory I have for them by the time they adopt me and take for me for two years even tho is just so short but i have the best loving family with them.

We cried and cried, until I heard growling sounds. I stopped crying and wiped my tears and I tried to suppress Jill and cried "Oh baby Jill please can you not cry out loud" I said to her. "Sorry baby Jill," I apologize to her cause I'm covering her mouth. I tried to look at the pocket of grandpa and also mama Cathleen to find the keys for their rooms. It might help us out if they have something inside their rooms. 

I found grandpa's keys and mama Cathleen's keys. I started walking to the grandpa room because it was closer to one in the kitchens just ten feet away from his room. I tip toe not to make any sounds while Jill was still weeping. "baby Jill please shhhh... for a little while," I guess Jill understands me or so. 

Once we were grandpa's rooms I unlocked the door and went inside. For all things happening in the shops only grandpa rooms haven't been affected by the crush of debris or wall pillars. "We are in Jill, we are safe grandpa room now" since my arms are getting numb I put Jill on grandpa's bed. The smell of this room is like grandpa and smells like bread. 

I started to mourn 'Not now Jack' I said to myself "first we need to find an escape and food source for Jill. I'm sure grandpa Vince has stored something here or his hiding stash" I look around from his book shelf where all bake recipes and some training menu how to bake bread. And also I saw beginner training of all smart weapons, physical exercise and hand to hand combats. I also check in grandpa cabinets where his clothes at and his drawer desk too, even in his under his bed or his chairs. 

In his drawer desk I found letters I haven't opened yet but have already opened and also three rings that have different designs. The one has a plane looking ring, the second one has black stone on the ring, the third ring has a pattern of curling snakes with wings. I don't know what it is but I took it with me. 

Under his bed I found a big wooden box that was coated with the skin of a beast of snakes. I opened the box and saw different tools and weapons. Tools for his baking breads, maintenance of this house and a black smith hammer. I also saw sort of weapons like swords, daggers, small shields, small bow, and crossbow. Wo grandpa was really hiding a treasure weapon in his room. I wonder what he was back then before he became a baker. I felt excited that grandpa was hiding from us. But the table will never be full. 

As for his cabinets, I found sort of clothes of his, I also found a hidden passage going down stairs. It also has a torch at the side of the wall. The wall has a tick of three foot this would be pretty sturdy. Later a growling sound I heard, I rushed to ward Jill who was playing something or chewing grandpa bed sheets in her mouth and she was full sticky saliva. I picked her up along the grandpa bed sheet right away and went inside the cabinet where the hidden passage. I closed the cabinets but before that a monster busting the door tried to get into. I looked at the door and saw it was a cat in half or a smash by brute force. 

I saw a monster standing there and looking around if there was one here(of course there was someone here). Sniffing around, when he saw me in eye to eye contact. The monster dash toward us and my instinct told me to get away right away so I tried busted out the mechanism of this passage since it can unlock and lock either inside or outside. For god sake of how many seconds I wasted just to bust the mechanism but the monster almost got me by scratch on my arm and enough to bleed a lot. The stone door was shot in right away so I made a sign to myself. 

Thank goodness grandpa's backpack I found previously in the cabinet, it was made of leather snakes skin. Now that I think about it why grandpa was obsess a skin snakes. Ohh I just live like that as memento for grandpa skin snake. My arm was bleeding forcefully, I to took bandages inside the shoulder bag. I found the bandage or first aid kit at the top shelf of grandpa's cabinet and came along with the matches. I light up the torch that way I can bandage my arms while I holding Jill in my lap. I also made a backpack made out of grandpa bed sheets for Jill that way I can carry her easily in my back.

 I could still hear banging on the walls or scratches, I guess that monster was still mad because his prey got escaped. What monster do you ask? It was a freaking werewolf that could stand on two feets and have sharp long nails. 

Once I'm done tending my injury I cary Jill on my arms. And then she suddenly crying loudly my ears was like being adapted by the sound serene, it made me deft. "Oi oi Jill what wrong," I asked to her of course she can only answer with his cry. I thought my self she might missed mama Cathleen embrace. "Don't worry Jill, your big brother is here for you. You won't be alone" I said to her while I'm trying to swing her slowly up and down just like how other parents do when they try to stop crying or.make them sleep. 

But she was still crying until it hit my nose. I smell stinking around here. I thought to myself but it wasn't the passage. But instead until I pinch my nose with my hands. My hand smells poop, "Ahh Jill you poop yourself, it's so stink" I cried out loud to myself. "JUst bear me a little for me Jill until we get out here at the staircase"  and she is still crying until she has no tears to get it out. "Fyi... I'm really going to deft for this" told myself. 

Once we were at the end of the stairs case I saw another torch so light it up about six of them and it illuminated the room with a light. And there, I saw big barrels around dozens of barrels. Each barrel has labels and names. So I notice right away some are flours, milks, water, dried meat, and fruits. Wow this place is really for baking except for the meets. This will be enough for me to stay here for a year or so. But I won't start here underground for so long, thoughts of myself. 

"Alright Jill let's clean you up," I put Jill on the floor with her grandpa 's bed sheet. I also ripped some grandpa bed sheets for Jill diaper. And I start cleaning her up.

On the surface, people were running towards the city lord gate castles. While the knights build their own fences to defend any monster trying to get into people and also the people start queuing in the portals where they can transport where their city lord other cities. Alex's father has 2 cities he owns and build one was connected to the country and that where Jack lives in and the other one has no affiliation to any kingdoms it was a desolate place. And there Alex was being escorted by high ranking knights. And some were in the shadow of Alex. 

She was looking around if she could find Jack but to no avail, and then she asked the knights who were guarding the pose. The only find to the answer of knights was shaking their heads. And she made a request if they can find a boy the same age and she described the features of the boy to send to her or leave a message that she was okay thanking him. 

The next day the place became a home base for the best but some were already left and others were still scavenging whatever body they could find and eat. The city had become desolate and ruins. There's still a knight patrolling around the portals and just waiting for their superior that can destroy the portal or get inside that way they can destroy it with a self destruct time bomb. And the order came out an hour later they went inside the portals. 

The last shadow also went inside without noticing by the knights and magic detection. "What the fvck... I lost him... urge this troublesome... wait you know what I can stay here or go the other side he might be there already and his adopted parents too..." he was doubting his decision. "Urge whatever I can to go back to the place again... that would be a long trip again about half a month because it would save a lot of money." He was grambling and he was talking About the city that had been invaded by monsters and unknown groups if either he was going back there again.

At the end he follows the knights to the portals.
