The Test

Looking at the rapier, it was by far the most beautiful weapon I've seen so far. Which wasn't saying much considering I haven't seen too many weapons. After looking at it, I thought about my sword which is pretty poor compared to the [Avenger's Secret]. I decided to wait till I was actually in need of a good weapon before getting something so extravagant.

Ais, happy about her new sword, decided to try it out immediately. She went over to the area she was at before and started to experiment with it. She stared at it, channeling all of her focus into shifting the sword. A small smile lit up her face as it changed form and turned into a one-handed sword. The blade didn't lose any of its majesty. She walked over to a training dummy and tried to swing at it with a moderately powerful swing.

The momentum caused the sword to come clean out of the other side of the dummy, the upper half flying and cracking the wall behind it. At the same time, a shockwave was released with a boom while dust and dirt got shot outwards causing me to cover my eyes with my hands.

Ais looked at the sword and smiled radiantly when she saw that the blade wasn't cracked anywhere and wasn't shaking from the stress. The rest of us were dumbstruck.

The door flew open, revealing a startled Loki. Her head poked into the door, looking around cautiously.

Loki: Hey quick question... what the hell was that?

We all still had our jaws dropped, but it seemed Riveria recovered enough to answer her.

Riveria: Nothing, it was just Ais testing the sword she just got from Aelita.

Loki nodded slowly, taking in the damage around her. She turned her gaze to me with an odd gleam in her eyes.

Loki: May I see your sword Aelita?

I knew where this was heading and handed my sword over anyways. Curious eyes inspected the blade before handing it back.

Loki: If you have something as great as the one you gave Ais, why don't you use one better?

I shrugged and sheathed the sword bac

Me: It's not meant for me. Most of the weapons like hers require a certain amount of strength. Others require additional requirements like the sword recognizing you as its wielder. It stayed dormant the whole time I held it, so it meant it wasn't for me.

A nod from Loki had me relaxing slightly. I hadn't even realized I was nervous.

Me: I don't think any weapons I have are well suited for anyone else here, but I'm glad I was able to help Ais at least.

Suddenly, a shiver crawled up my back, but I kept my face straight. I glanced around, but I couldn't see anything outright suspicious.

Me: 'System, did you feel that?'

I wasn't sure if that was how our connection worked, but System gave the affirmative.

System: {No you didn't imagine that Aelita, someone is spying on you from afar. Would you like to purchase something to-}

It was at this moment that the system was cut off by Loki.

Loki: Aeltia, what's wrong?

I must have made a face when the System confirmed my suspicions. I looked around before answering in a low voice.

Me: I felt like someone was watching me.

Loki's smile dropped and her face turned serious.

Loki: Do you have any idea as to who it was?

I held up a finger to request for her to wait. She nodded her head as I let the system finish.

System: {Would you like to purchase something to deal with this sort of thing?}

Me: 'Yes.'
