I Spy With My Goddess Eyes...

'Name: Freya

Current location: Tower of Babel

Race: Goddess

Divinities: Sex, Beauty, War, Death

Intent: Desiring'

I turned my gaze to the Tower of Babel. I could see it out of the window, since being the tallest building in the city meant you could see it from anywhere. There was no way I would have been alerted if not for the skills I possessed and I narrowed my eyes.

I did not like being spied on.

System: {Just a little reminder, Aelita, the most important information is always listed first in the Skills you purchased. And that includes Goddess's main Divinities.}

It felt like oil slipping down my spine at that remark from System and I shuddered. Before I could even ask if there was a way to block spying, System had already pulled up the skill.

[Shielded]

Grade-S

You cannot be spied on from a distance by skills or items. Other skills related to being spied on are not hindered.

Cost-1,000,000

Me: 'You're getting very good at predicting me, System. Yeah, please buy that. I don't like this feeling of being watched.'

System gave an affirmative chirp before the Skill automatically went into effect. I felt the tension ease out of my shoulders slightly at the knowledge that I wouldn't be scryed on, but boy did that raise some red flags for my own wellbeing. The slimy feeling also slipped off of me, but the lingering memory of it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Turning to Loki, I edited down the information that I had learned.

Me: I don't know who, and I don't know why, but I think someone from the tower is watching me. That's all I could get a read on.

Loki's worried expression shifted to one of annoyance. I raised one of my brows at her before she sighed.

Loki: It's probably Freya. She's very prominent in the "scouting" of talent and keeps an eye out for new recruits. She honestly spends most of her time in that tower satiating her own curiosity and desire for strong recruits. That's how she's able to maintain the second top familia in the City.

Loki's face changed from annoyance to a frown, torn between worry and disgust.

Loki: But she always breaks her adventurers. She says it's so they'll reach their greatest potential or something, but people also forget that while she's the goddess of sex and beauty, she also has domain over war and death. Freya has a... sadistic streak, if you will.

I shuddered a bit at the darkness that crept into Loki's tone. The trickster goddess turned her gaze from the tower to meet my own. A hand landed on my shoulder as Loki spoke her next warning lowly.

Loki: Stay away from her if you can, Aelita, for your own good. You're strong, and she wants that. And she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

System gave a gentle nudge, reminding me I wasn't alone, but I knew that Loki was only looking out for my best interests. I nodded at the goddess.

I was going to have to be careful.

-Location: Tower of Bable-

On the 39th floor of the Tower of Babel, a woman frowned at the crystal ball in front of her. Long silver hair cascaded down her back, clinging to the skin where skimpy black leather didn't cover. Long legs were crossed underneath the table where the crystal ball sat as her slender fingers hovered above the glass.

She was searching for the source of a tremor, powerful enough to be felt through the tower when she found her. A pink haired anomaly in the Loki Familia's training ground, speaking directly to Loki herself.

At first, she hadn't thought much of it, curious only as to the reason she was with the most elite team in the familia. It wasn't until she focused, using the power of her Discerning Eye to look into the soul of the young girl, that awe curiosity crept into her. The more she looked, though, the more that curiousity turned to desire.

It burned brightly, fluctuating strangely with a small blue spark flitting in and out of view. If the luminosity of the soul weren't enough, the possibility and potential she saw in it would be enough to catch her attention.

As she allowed herself to bask in the light of the girls soul, she almost missed the slight shudder and frown before she spoke something and turned to look in the direction of the tower. The goddess knew the crystal was a one way view, but she still leaned back in surprise anyways. Then, pink eyes narrowed and her crystal ball went dark.

Shock sat her still for a moment before she swirled her fingers over the glass again, trying to coax it into showing her the strange girl once more. When that didn't work, she frowned and tried one of her own men, then someone from the general populace, and finally someone from Loki's familia. As she flicked through each one, they came in crystal clear. But when she tried to look at the girl once more, nothing happened. She couldn't even scry on those around her to get a second view.

Sitting back with narrowed eyes, nimble fingers scooped up the discarded wineglass from the table beside her. She took a sip as she thought before calling out.

Freya: Ottar, dear. I have a quest for you...

A smirk crossed her lips as beauty and war came to the surface of her eyes, truly a terrifying sight to behold.

-Back in Aelita's World-

I felt little pings notifying me as Freya kept trying to scry. Doing a little victory dance with System, I pushed away the nagging worry at her persistence. Finally, the notifications went silent.

Thanking the Gods and Goddesses above, I allowed myself to relax. That didn't stop the small bit of unease settling in the back of my mind at Loki's warning, but it let me return to my day.
