"I don't see why I would be scared of my sweetheart's pet. Let's give it a shot," replied Raiyen, glitching to Mavislin to give her a sneaky peck.
Since Mavislin was not used to having a romantic partner, she roughly pushed Raiyen away when he did that. Luckily for the Time Mage's quick reflex, he did not fly to his destination prematurely.
"Sorry, I just don't like being jump scared. My survival instinct kicks in," replied Mavislin, turning away from her partner.
"Alright. Let's head outside to summon your Familiar," said Raiyen, glitching once more to the front door.
They opened automatically, revealing two boys dueling. As Bryan and Tomoe fought each other, Mavislin noticed that Bryan had learned some of the moves that Tomoe usually uses back in the day. Those were starting moves, easy to maneuver and control.
The moves require the user's body, hands, and weapon to flow perfectly in sync, like a river flowing through the forest. But even if it was a beginner's technique, Bryan was pulling it off as an expert, striking and defending Tomoe's more advanced moves.
The two backed away and found the couple staring at them. Raiyen walked towards the two while Mavislin followed by a few steps behind.
"You're going out to do the spell?" asked Bryan.
"Yes, Mavislin is about to summon her Relic for us to head over there," replied Raiyen, looking at Mavislin.
Tomoe folded his arms across his chest and faced away from his owner. It was apparent that he was still salty over the fact that Mavislin chose Raiyen instead of him. Mavislin paid no attention and clicked her tongue, quickly summoning Ciel to her side.
But the creature had appeared with a very confused look on his face, with a few kids hugging his tail. Mavislin blinked a few times before plucking off the children. Bryan and Raiyen helped to get the kids to a safe place before returning to the spot.
"Alright then, let's get on with it," said Mavislin, mounting on her Familiar.
"Hang on, I thought you'd said that Cetus can't fly? How are you going to get there?" asked Bryan, tilting his head.
"It has legs, doesn't it?" asked Mavislin, looking confused and tired of Bryan's questions.
Tomoe whacked the back of the poor boy's head with his fan. Raiyen hopped on, despite his resistance. With that last reply, Cetus took off, dashing out of the Old Chapel's domain. But he did so by running straight into the vines, causing Raiyen to shut his eyes out of fear.
All he could hear was his girlfriend screaming in happiness and joy as Ciel leaped towards their destination. When the Time Mage finally mustered his courage to open his eyes, he had his breath taken away on how far that they had traveled in just a few minutes.
The leaps weren't too frequent so it wasn't possible to induce any motion sickness. But they were high enough for Raiyen to see most of the forest surrounding the Old Chapel. He had never liked heights, so looking at such a beautiful piece of land from an aerial seemed almost impossible.
But with Ciel, Raiyen was flabbergasted as he saw how wonderful the place could be at such an angle. Now he knew why Mavislin loved being airborne so much.
"Like the view?" asked Mavislin, turning to look at Raiyen.
He shyly nodded, still holding onto Ciel.
"The higher you fly, the more you see. Take a look around, you'll find things that you don't normally see when you are on the ground. That's why we take to the skies. The same goes for humans too, at least, that's what I know for the ones around me," explained Mavislin.
"That's is true, now I get why you love your wings so much..."
As they got nearer to their destination, Ciel's leaps became higher and finally landed with a huge thump on the ground.
"Well, that was one way of transportation. You feeling alright there?" asked Mavislin, getting from Ciel.
"Never felt better," said Raiyen, shakily getting down from the creature.
Mavislin patted the creature and rubbed its belly before sending him back to play with the kids. Raiyen was still in a daze, but not from the Cetus transport. His eyes grew wide as he looked at the rundown building that Tomoe had suggested. He took a step back.
"You don't have to lie, you could at least tell me that you were feeling uncomfortable," said Mavislin, arching her back.
"I enjoyed the ride but that's not why I am shaky..." murmured Raiyen, as he tapped on Mavislin's shoulders.
The Valkyrie turned to look at the dilapidated building from the distant future. This was much worse than she thought. As she took a step forward, Raiyen stopped her.
